RE-IMAGINING NECKLACE ROAD
-Enhancing the experience of Hussain Sagar
BACKGROUND:
Necklace Road is a prominent boulevard that runs parallel to the Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad,
Telangana. The road is an important cultural and recreational hub in the city, surrounding the
iconic Hussain Sagar. However, the design and current infrastructure of Necklace Road needs
improvement as it does not fully leverage the potential of the lake and its surroundings.
The objective of this design competition is to reimagine and enhance the Necklace Road and its
surroundings to make it a world-class urban waterfront that offers a rich and diverse range of
social, cultural, and recreational activities. The design should be sustainable, innovative, and
people-centric, and should complement the natural and historic beauty of the Hussain Sagar Lake.
The proposed design should cover the stretch of Necklace Road –Approx-4.2Km, starting from the
Indira Gandhi statue near IMAX circle to Sanjeevaiah park which includes improvement of the
pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.
The design proposal should be considered in width till existing railway track to shore line of the
lake abiding Central railway rules, Local Government by laws and Statutory Environmental and
National by laws for Development.
The participants are required to give Innovative Approach to “Reimagine Necklace Road -
Enhancing the Experience of Hussain Sagar” by giving a futuristic and sustainable design solution.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: This design competition is open to all students of Architecture from
institutions across India.
COMPETITION CRITERIA:
• Participants can register as a team of maximum 5 members.
• Maximum number of entries per institution - 3 Nos.
• Each entry can be associated with 1 faculty/guide at institution level.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS - Participants should submit a digital presentation (PDF format) that
includes the following:
• Design proposal and concept statement (not exceeding 500 words)
• Site plan, including the proposed land use, circulation, and public spaces
• Illustrative sketches, diagrams, and renderings of the proposed design
• Sustainable Design strategies -Including details on the proposed features and technologies.
• Mode of submission - Online

• All the sheets to be maintained a regular A1 size.
JUDGING CRITERIA: Entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Innovation, creativity, and originality of the design proposal
Sustainability, resilience, and adaptability of the design
Integration of cultural and social aspects into the design
Feasibility and practicality of the proposed design
Aesthetic and functional excellence of the proposed design
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS:
1st prize : INR 25,000 and certificate of recognition to team & guide
2nd prize : INR 15,000 and certificate of recognition to team & guide
3rd prize : INR 10,000 and certificate of recognition to team & guide
Honorable mentions for 2 teams : Certificate of recognition to team and guide
Certificate of participation : Digital certificate to all participating teams

Participants can register by scanning QR code and by filling the registration form.
Registration fee - 1000 INR for each team.

All the entries should be uploaded separately during the time of online submission.
Late Registration and submission will not be entertained and henceforth the defaulters shall
be disqualified.
The timeline is subject to change as per the discretion of the organizers.
Any kind of canvassing/ misconduct on part of the participants such as exposing identity
through college name, participant(s) name on the sheets will disqualify them from the
competition.
