It is significant because it entertains, informs, and sustains cultural traditions. WHAT IS FOLKLORE?
Folklore is the collection of stories that people
tell - folk stories, fairy tales, "tall tales," and
even urban legends. Folklore is typically
passed down orally rather than written down
in books (although sometimes people write
down collections of folklore in order to
preserve the stories of a particular
community).
In general, folk literature's primary
significance is that they are shared to
entertain, inform, and sustain the culture
of every society.

Likewise, they are valued for both


national and global culture.
Folktales can be used in a variety of ways
to help children:

Develop stronger reading skills


Study other cultures
Model character traits
Appreciate other traditions
Learn about decision making
Explore new ways of seeing the world
Discover a love of stories

Some of the themes in Beowulf include courage, good versus evil, loyalty, generosity, reputation, and the heroic code.
Beowulf is the perfect example of courage, always charging into battle even though the odds are steeply against him.
 Folklore studies have the benefit of
assisting us in comprehending the rich
folklore and mystic legacy of our
ancestors.
 Folk culture can be a way of establishing
unity among the different people living in
the same country.
They promote simple, logical thinking,
and this education will develop an
awareness in children  of the
environment, which is important in the
world today.

Folklore and folktales offer a deeper and


more comprehensive understanding of
life and living.
