Chapter I
Introduction
This chapter presents the Introduction of the study. The
introduction show the background of the study, statement of
the problem, hypothesis, significance of the study, and scope
and delimition of the study.
Background of the Study
• Nowadays, people become more environmental conscious and try to
recycle or reuse the waste they generated
• Typical kitchen waste such as orange peel can be converted to a valuable
product which known as “homemade enzyme” by Undergoing fermentation
process.
• Almost every households contains cleaning solutions with harmful
chemicals that they used in kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms
• Some of the products that many households bought at the market
are containing chemicals that are bad for our health and also having
an expensive price.
Statement of the Problem
• This study aims to produce a tile cleaner out of kamias extract and orange peel. Specially it answers the following
questions:
1. What characteristics of kamias extract it effective to be used as tile
cleaner?
2.What are the difference between the made tile cleaner and the commercial ones in terms of odor, texture and
color?
3.What is the effect of the homamade product on the tile?
3.1 Tile on the sink
3.2 Tile on the bathroom
3.3 Tile on the terrace
3.4 Tile on the living room
Hypothesis
• There is no significant difference between the natural tile cleaner and
the commercial ones
Significance of the Study
• The study aims to produce a natural tile cleaner out of orange peel and kamias extract.
Natural tile cleaner is safe to use because it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals. The
beneficiaries of this product are school, households and the future researchers.
•
• To school, this natural tile cleaner helps the students that are having problems in
buying cleaning products that are not suitable for their budget.
•
• To households, this homamade product will help every households who need an
effective and inexpensive tile cleaner that they can use for everyday cleaning
•
• To future researchers, this natural tile cleaner out of kamias extract and orange peel
will help the future researchers as basis for their research.
•
•
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
• This study focuses on the characteristics of kamias extract to be
effective in making natural tile cleaner, This study also focuses on the
difference between the homemade product and the commercial ones
in terms of odor, texture, and color. The proposed study also shows
the effect of the tile cleaner in the tile of the sink, bathroom, terrace,
and living room. Furthermore, there is no indication of how long the
product will last. Also, this study will not cover any medicinal property
of orange peel and kamias extract.

Review of Related Literature
Kamias Extract
• Kamias has high oxalic acid content, fruit used to remove stains from
clothing and for washing hands, removing rust and stains from metal
blades. Kamias has properties that can make rough skin turn back to
its normal and supple condition which makes it a better alternative
stain remover . Kamias juice is rich in oxalic acid making it deal for
keeping a knife blade clean or restoring the luster to rusted brass.
Kamias juice can also effectively clean handstains when soap and
water cant get the job done.
Orange Peel
• Orange peel, which is the primary waste fraction in the production of orange juice,
contains flavonoids associated with antioxidant activity (Kanaze et al 2008). The
glycosides hesperidin and naringin are mainly responsible for the purported antioxidant
activity of citrus peel extracts (Kanaze et al 2008). Coniferin and phlorin are additional
phenols in orange peels that have been found to aid in radical scavenging when
administered in the form of orange peel molasses (Manthey 2004).Orange peel extract
contains citrus–derived polymethoxylated flavones that have an inhibitory effect on
TNF–α expression in horses. One study in exercising horses reported that 30 g orange
peel extract administered via nasogastric tube decreased IFN–γ expression at fatigue,
and decreased the recovery time of cardiovascular parameters as compared to control
(Fig. 19.4; Streltsova et al 2006). In a companion study, horses administered the orange
peel extract one hour before exercise had significantly lower concentrations of plasma
retinol compared to the control group (Smarsh et al 2010).

Research Methodology
Research Design
Materials and Method
• Kamias
• Orange Peel
The materials needed in extracting the kamias is blender and for
the preparation of the tile cleaner are blender and clean container. First procedure
is preparing all the materials and ingredients needed in making the study. Second,
squeeze the kamias into the squeezer to get the extract. Third, put all the
orange peel in a clean container. Next, after getting the extract of the kamias, put
the extract in a clean container together with to orange peel. Lastly, soak the
orange peel and kamias extract together for 2-3 weeks.
