Ecotel certification
introduction
Ecotels or green hotels are environment friendly
hotels that means crucial envionmental for
consuming natural resources,minimising pollution,
maximising sustainability. Some ecotels consist of
recycled or rennovated buliding with upgrades to
conserve energy and water,minimise waste or
utilise recovered building materials.
• Various properties support local
environment,efforts or groups or offer
environmental groups r expedition.ECOTEL
hotel support local environment ,offer
environmental education or expeditions.
ECOTEL CERTIFICATION
CRITERIA

• They follow the three R’s of the environment:


• REDUCE
• REUSE
• RECYCLE
• Popular ecotels in india include the ORCHID
MUMBAI, FERN HOTELS AND RESORTS,etc.
• There are certain hotels in india even though there
are not ecotel certified ,they are following ecotel
rules and regulations for example…ITC WELCOME
• Energy efficeiency: hotel should be designed
in such a manner that it should conserve the
energy. For example we will use LED bulb
instead of normal tubelight,the key should be
designed in such a way that when we are
coming out of the room then all the lights
inside the room should be switch off.
• Environment commitment:the mission statement of
the hotel should say ‘‘WE ARE COMMITED TO THE
ENVIRONMENT’’
• Employ education and community
development:T.his means the involvement of the
employees to contribute towards the environment
AND THE TRAINING Module to teach the employees.
The community name is HVS INTERNATIONAL which
is responsible for giving a hotel the ECOTEL
CERTICIFATION.
• Water conservation: this includes recycling of
water and thus reuse of water. Don’t waste
water.
• Solid waste management: The hotel must
recycle and manage waste wherever
generated.
ECOTEL HOTEL COMPARISON WITH NORMAL
HOTEL
• Eotel hotels are the hotels that have
enviormental improvements to their
environment whereas the normal hotels
basically provide the paid accomodatiion.

• The main aim of ecotel is to build environment


friendly hotels along with profit maximisation
along with customer satisfaction
• Ecotels mainly used products that are safer to the
environment and cause minimum harm to the
society and environment. Normal hotels preferred
branded or known products in order to maintain
their image.
• The generated waste is differentiated as dry and wet
garbage and they are recycled and used properly.
Usually the waste which is generated in hotels are
thrown away as garbbage and no recycle systems
are are adopted.
• Ecotel hotels are constructed based on eco
friendly aspects and eco norms
Effects on the environment

• No or minimal harmful effects on the environ


ment,ecology always protects the ecology. No
hotels indirectly cause harm to the
environment friendly. Any hotel applying for
the certification need to fulfill the criteria and
norms set by authorities before they are
awarded the 5 globe certification award.
The 5 GLOBES

• The ecotel hotel can also be considered as a


hallmark for environment sensitive hotels.
Having an ecotel certification that the hotel is
completely environment friendly. Any hotel
applying for the certification need to fulfill
