therefore the primary classification of

The exclamatory sentence
The declarative sentence
Declarative sentences are simply statements
that relay information.
A declarative sentence states the facts or an
opinion and lets the reader know something
specific. It always ends with a period.
Ex:
All they need do would be to walk round me, and, after
that, take their diploma
I got down the book, and read all I came to read; and then, in
an unthinking moment, I idly turned the leaves, and began
to indolently study diseases, generally.
The imperative sentence
The imperative sentence expresses
inducement, either affirmative or negative.
That is, it urges the listener, in the form of
request or command, to perform or not to
perform a certain action
Ex:
"Why, you skulking little devil, you," they would say, "get
up and do something for your living, can't you?
"Hi! come further in," I said, shaking him by the shoulder.
"You'll be overboard."
The interrogative sentence
The interrogative sentence expresses a question, i.e. a
request for information wanted by the speaker from
the listener
The interrogative sentence is naturally connected with an
answer, forming together with it a question-answer
dialogue unity
Ex:
"What can I get you, sir?"
"Weren't you a little shaky by Southend Pier one day, and
wanted to be thrown overboard?"
The exclamatory sentence
The exclamatory sentences do not possess any complete set
of qualities that could place them on one and the same
level with the three cardinal communicative types of
sentences.
An exclamatory sentence makes a statement that
conveys strong emotion or excitement.
Ex:
What I suffer in that way no tongue can tell!
"Southend Pier!" he replied, with a puzzled
expression.
