Sacramen TS: Baptism

Baptism is a Christian rite of admission into Christianity that is usually performed with water. It is considered a sacrament in most churches. Baptism transforms believers into God's people, gives them salvation and new life, and forgives original sin. The trinitarian formula "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" is used along with water as the matter during baptism celebrations. In emergencies, anyone can perform a baptism to glorify God.

invariably with the use of water,

gospels recount that John the Baptist
baptized Jesus.
• Baptism is considered a sacrament in most
churches, and as an ordinance in others and
a channel of God’s grace to his people.

• Baptism is also called christening, although

some reserve the word "christening" for
the baptism of infants. It has also given its
name to the Baptist churches and
denominations.
