WHAT
IS
BAPTISM?
• Baptism (from the Greek noun
βάπτισμα baptisma) is a Christian
rite of admission and adoption, almost
invariably with the use of water,
into Christianity. The synoptic
gospels recount that John the Baptist
baptized Jesus.
• Baptism is considered a sacrament in most
churches, and as an ordinance in others and
a channel of God’s grace to his people.
• Baptism is also called christening, although
some reserve the word "christening" for
the baptism of infants. It has also given its
name to the Baptist churches and
denominations.
Why Baptism is the most important
sacrament?
Because it transforms us into God’s people.
We receive Christ’s Salvation and new life.
It gives us the promise of eternal life.
Forgives us and it removes the original sin done
by our first parent (Adam & Eve).
