The Story of the Love of God

for Man

LETS START AT THE VERY

BEGINNING.

On the first day

God created light and
darkness

On the second day

God created the sky and the
sea

On the third day

God created the land, the trees
and
the flowers
Genesis 1: 9-13

On the fourth day

God created the the sun, the
moon
and the stars
Genesis 1:14-19

On the fifth day

God created the the birds and
sea creatures Genesis 1:20-23

On the sixth day

God created the land animals,
Man (Adam) and Woman (Eve)
Genesis 1:24-26

When God created Man

Man was made from Gods image and
likeness.
Above all creatures in dignity. (Gen 1:26-27)
There was no illness.
There was no death.
Man became the caretaker or steward of
all creation. (Genesis 1:28)
Man and Woman were happy and they had
everything they needed which were provided
by God. (Genesis 1:29)

THERE WERE MANY TREES IN THE

GARDEN BUT THERE WERE TWO
SPECIAL ONES

The LORD God made all kinds

of trees grow out of the
ground--trees that were
pleasing to the eye and good
for food. In the middle of the
garden were the tree of life
and the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil.

The Tree of Life

The Tree of Knowledge

of Good and Evil

And the Lord God commanded the

man, You may freely eat of every tree
of the garden; but of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil you shall
not eat, for in the day that you eat of it
you shall die.
Genesis 2:16-17

But the serpent said to

the woman, You will not
die; for God knows that
when you eat of it your
eyes will be opened, and
you will be like God,[a]
knowing good and evil.
Genesis 3:4-5

Original Sin

He drove out the man; and at the

east of the garden of Eden he
placed the cherubim, and a sword
flaming and turning to guard the
way to the tree of life.

BUT GOD HAD A PLAN TO

SAVE MANKIND

For the wages of sin is death,

but the free gift of God is
eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord.

Jesus is the Bread of Life

from the Gospel of St. John
51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the
bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.
52 The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying,
How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 So Jesus said to them, Very truly, I tell you, unless
you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his
blood, you have no life in you. 54 Those who eat my
flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise
them up on the last day;
John 6:51-53

What is the Eucharist?

Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus
In this Sacrament, Jesus feeds us His flesh and
lets us drink of His blood as He promised the
Jews. >>> Because Jesus said that if we do not
eat of this bread (which is His Body), and drink
the wine (which is His Blood), we shall have no
life in us.
Jesus Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity are

WHAT IS THE MASS?

THE MASS IS A SACRIFICE

Sacrifice =
Worship
A sacrifice is a gift to God
In the Old Testament, a priest offered
sacrifices to God on behalf of the people.
The priest is like a bridge between the
people and God.
The animal that is sacrificed is called
VICTIM

THE MASS IS A SACRIFICE

Jesus gives
Himself as a GIFT
to God and we
join Him in giving
ourselves as Gifts
to God, too.
In the Mass, Jesus
is the PRIEST and
He is also the
VICTIM that is
offered to God.

The Mass is a Reminder

It reminds us of the Sacrifice of Jesus on
the cross to conquer death and return
us to being children of God.
He did this out of His great love for us.
The Mass is a living reminder because it
actually IS the SAME ACT OF LOVE.
We are brought back to that event, and
we look up to Jesus on the Cross on the
Mount of Calvary.

The Mass is Like a Family

Meal

When you are invited to a party with your

big family, you go exchange stories with
your relatives, then the host invites all to eat
dinner. First he leads everyone in prayer to
bless the food. And then he signals the
beginning of the dinner so everyone lines up
at the buffet table and eats the food.

The Mass is Like a Family

Meal

In the Mass, we also listen to stories

about God and His people. This is
called the LITURGY OF THE WORD.

The Mass is a Ceremony

Jesus wanted His sacrifice on the Cross to

be continued so the night before He died,
He ate the Last Supper with His apostles.
There He gave them the ceremony we
now call the Mass.

The
Mass
is
a
Ceremony
The Mass is a Ceremony

Through the Mass, Jesus, by His power, turns

the bread into His Body and the wine into His
Blood. The priest is just a representative. It is
truly Jesus who changes the wine and bread.

Holy Eucharist, Holy Mass,

Holy Communion
Holy Eucharist is the Body and Blood of
Christ; the food and drink we eat/drink for
eternal life
Holy Mass is the family meal that God
invites us to come to, like the family party.
This dinner party is the ceremony where we
share in the Holy Eucharist as children of God.
Holy Communion When we receive the
Eucharist, Jesus unites Himself to us. He
enters our hearts and souls.

The ancient Hebrews shared

the Passover lamb that was

Then God fed them manna from

heaven when He led them out of

Jesus fed the apostles His Body and

Blood.

Today, we receive Jesus in the

Eucharist,, the Body and Blood of
Jesus, which is our food for eternal
life.

bodies strong

into the Body and Blood of Jesus?

when the priest says the words
Jesus said during the Last Supper,
which was the First Mass.

When Bread Turns into
