Process Leader – Procurement (Purchase):
Role Summary:
Responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for raw materials,
consumables, chemicals, packaging, and capital items required for medical textile
production. The role ensures cost-effective procurement, quality compliance, supplier
reliability, and adherence to medical / healthcare industry standards. The position also
oversees vendor management, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination with
Production, QA, Maintenance and Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities:
a. Procurement Strategy & Planning
Develop annual and monthly procurement plans aligned with production schedules
and business targets.
Analyse market trends, price movements, and supply risks for key materials such as
medical fabrics, PP/PE polymers, elastic, non-woven materials, adhesives,
chemicals, and sterilization supplies.
Establish sourcing strategies for imported raw materials and high-spec
components.
b. Supplier Management & Development
Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified vendors meeting medical textile /
healthcare standards.
Conduct supplier audits in coordination with QA and compliance teams.
Build long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and negotiate competitive
rates, delivery, and payment terms.
Maintain supplier database, performance scorecards, and risk assessments.
c. Cost Control & Negotiation
Achieve cost savings through effective negotiations, alternative sourcing, and long-
term supply contracts.
Monitor price fluctuations of polymers, specialized fabrics, chemicals, and
packaging materials.
Implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality and compliance.
d. Procurement Operations & Compliance
Oversee the entire purchase cycle – PR review, RFQ issuance, quote comparison,
approvals, PO release, and follow-up.
Ensure strict adherence to procurement SOPs, quality standards, and medical
regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Maintenance and Quality to
ensure availability of materials on time.
Manage import procurement including customs documentation, lead time planning,
and freight optimization.
e. Inventory & Supply Risk Management
Monitor inventory levels and set minimum stock thresholds for critical items.
Work with PPC to avoid stock-outs, overstocking, or material expiry.
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks—single vendor dependency, geopolitical
risks, fluctuations in availability of specialized medical raw materials.
f. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
Publish weekly / monthly procurement dashboards, cost reports, and savings
trackers.
Track supplier performance (OTD, quality issues, service levels, compliance).
Participate in cross-functional meetings to review production plans and material
availability.
Support budget preparation and variance analysis.
g. Team Leadership
Lead a team of procurement executives and officers.
Provide training on procurement processes, ERP usage, contract management, and
supplier evaluation.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement department.
