SEMI-INDUSTRIAL OVERLOCK MACHINE GN1

PREFACE

This three-thread 'OVERLOCK' machine is a general-purpose machine for

knitting machines that execute 'overlock' stitches on clothing, such as: sweaters, knits
of cotton, knit shirts, and wool clothes, etc.

The most important technical specifications of this machine are:

1. Main shaft rotation: 3000 rpm (depending on the fabric being used)
stitched).

2. Stitch: the 'overlock' stitch is formed by a needle and two loopers.

a. Point length: between 2.5 and 3.2 mm.

b. Point width: between 2.5 and 3.5 mm.

Maximum thickness for the fabric: 3.5 mm.

4. Needle type: CAT No. 6120−01 Sizes 07 to 14.

5. Motor power: less than 0.25 KW.

Dimensions of the head: 250x210x270 mm (including the oil reservoir).

7. Net weight of the cylinder head: approximately 13 kg.

Before the machine leaves the factory, it undergoes a thorough examination, to ensure
ensure that it meets the requirements and product specifications.
It is recommended that the user read the instructions described in this manual, with the
objective of achieving the best machine performance, as well as becoming familiar with it
with its mechanisms.

After the machine is removed from its packaging and before starting its
functioning, one should proceed as follows:

a. Removal of grease and dirt:

Before being packed, all parts receive a layer of grease.
the goal of protecting it against rust.
This grease may harden during storage or transport.
therefore, it is necessary to remove it, as well as the dirt that settles on the parts
external to the machine.

b. Inspection:
The machine parts may become loose during transport and therefore, after
It should be properly cleaned, and the machine must undergo an inspection.
careful.

c. Lubrication:
Apply oil to the points indicated by the arrows, in figures 1 to 3.
Turn the machine's steering wheel so that the oil drains through its parts.
Wipe off the excess oil and then run the machine at low speed.
(without sewing).
The operation of the machine is confirmed to be free. Let it run for some time.
2500 r.p.m. After that, check all the parts again and if the result is
satisfactory, start the sewing work.

HOW TO USE AND ADJUST THE MACHINE

WORK SPEED:

To ensure that the machine has a prolonged lifespan, initially it

it must operate at a speed not exceeding 2500 r.p.m.
After using it for a month, the speed can be increased to 3000.
r.p.m.
The machine's wheel should turn in the opposite direction to that used in machines of
sewing
conventional, that is, looking at the steering wheel from the front, the turn should be in the direction
schedule (see arrow in figure 1).

2. CHOICE OF LINE AND NEEDLE:

The needles of gauge 07 to 09 are used for sewing fine and soft fabrics.
while the gauge needles of 11 to 14 are used for sewing fabrics
thicker and more resistant.
The needles and threads must be chosen in two ways:
Or by choosing a needle suitable for the thread that will be used.
Or by choosing a line suitable for the needle.
The threads must be able to easily pass through the eye of the needle and through the holes of the
lassos.
The following table provides suggestions regarding the most appropriate use of needles and
lines, according to the fabric.

Next, loosen the screw (5) using the wrench (2) (both shown in figure 5).
So, move this screw along with the augmenter connecting rod (6). along the
feature of the point regulator. to obtain in this way, a longer point or
shorter. Move this screw and the connecting rod out, when you want a point
longer or move them in when you want a shorter point.
After that, tighten the screw (5) again.

5. HOW TO ADJUST THE WIDTH OF THE DOT:

The point width can also be changed within the specified range.
Using figure 1 as a reference, loosen screw (8) from the protector support.
remove the knife and move this protector (9) along with the protector (10) to the right.
Using a screwdriver, then loosen the screw (11) of the knife holder.
lower and turn with your hand your adjustment screw (12), in order to move
this lower knife support, to the left or right, until reaching the position
desired. Then tighten the screw (11).
Next, move the support (9) to the left until the tip of the protector (10),
gently touch the upper knife (13).
Tighten the screw (8).
To get a wider point, shift the lower knife support to the right.
And to obtain a narrower point, move this support to the left.
The change in the knife position will require an adjustment of the existing loop finger.

9. START AND END OF A SEWING:

When starting a sewing, first raise the presser foot allowing

thus, the fabric can be placed under the foot while always keeping the fabric
parallel to the right side of this foot.
Then lower the presser foot to start sewing. From this point on, the blades
they can cut the irregular edge of the fabric.
During sewing, one should not exert pressure on the fabric, whether by pulling or
pushing it forward, however, it should be guided during its progress.
After the sewing is finished, the machine must continue to operate until
a line chain should be formed, which will help to better secure the points.
previously applied to the tissue.
Cut this line of chain with a regular pair of scissors.
Never pull this line chain with the intention of breaking it, as the needle may
to be twisted.
To avoid damage to the driving tooth or the sewn clothing, one should not exert
pressure on the presser foot, in addition to that exerted by the machine itself.

10. HOW TO ADJUST THE TENSION ON THE LINES:

Before starting a sewing, it is necessary to do a test, with the aim of

adjust the tension on the lines to achieve appropriate firmness at the points.
The tying applied by an 'overlock' machine must be looped in the middle.
from the edge of the fabric (see figure 10).
A interwoven point at the top edge of the fabric can be attributed
to the tension in the line of the lasso (that is, the line on the surface of the fabric), which is
much beyond what is necessary, or it may be attributed to the tension in the line of
smaller weaver (that is, from the line at the bottom of the fabric), which is very
loose.
In addition, an intertwined point at the bottom edge of the fabric could be
caused by a very low tension in the main lasso line, or by a
very high tension on the smaller lasso line.
To adjust the tension on the needle line as well as on the hook lines,
the nut (59) (see figures 7 and 9), present in the three devices that control
the tension in the lines.
If even after adjusting the tension on the lasso lines, no points are obtained
with satisfactory results, it will be necessary to adjust the tension on the needle line,
since the lines of these binders will not intertwine in the middle of the edge of the fabric,
less than the needle line is sufficiently tight.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS

1. MAINTENANCE AND ROUTINE REPAIRS:

If the machine is in constant use, the points for applying oil

Those indicated by the arrows in figures 1 to 3 will need to receive oil every 4 hours.
All parts of the machine must always be kept clean.
It is advisable to also carry out a periodic inspection regarding the
temperature of the parts.
In the case of abnormal noises occurring, they should be checked and corrected, so that
don't become bigger problems.
The key to achieving a long and useful life for the machine is always taking care of the
repairs and maintenance.
Under normal operating conditions, the machine must undergo a
small revision every 1S days, while a larger revision should be
carried out every 6 months.
Before using the machine, after a long period of inactivity, one should adopt
the procedure that involves a greater review.
Sewing speeds are determined based on the fabric that will be used.
worked and therefore one should never exceed the maximum speed
specified by the manufacturer and the machine should not be overloaded.

2. HOW TO CHANGE THE BLADES

(See figure 1):

The knives will become dull after being used for a certain period.
over time and that is why they should be sharpened or replaced.
Before removing the knives, loosen the screw (8) of the knife guard support (see
Figure 1) and shift this support (9) to the right.
First, remove the top knife.
Gently push the lid (60) of the upper knife to the right until this knife
(13) stay out of contact with the lower blade (62).
With your right hand, loosen the screw (63) (with a recessed head).
Next. Disassemble, the lower knife (62).
Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw (65) (with a notched head).
Sharpen the knives using a fine grit wheel, following the cutting angle.
the original of these knives and avoid that during sharpening, the area in contact with the
the spindle overheats, which may lead to the annealing of the material.
When assembling the knives, first assemble the lower knife.
Mount the lower knife (62), leveling the cutting edge with the face of the
needle plate (66) and tighten the screw (65).
To mount the upper knife, turn the machine's handwheel to bring the bar of
needle to your lowest position.
Gently lift the lid (60) of the knife holder to the right and place it
