DESCRIPTION OF VISUALIZATION
PARAMETERS 3
Visualization and status parameters cannot be modified and display useful information about the inverter,
such as: current and voltage per phase, amount of energy generated by the inverter, fault messages and
many more.
Shows the current fault code in case there is any. An example is given below to
explain the interpretation of the parameter's faults.
Example:
The parameter returns a decimal number which needs to be transformed to
binary. Then, the last ten digits must be and converted back to decimal. If it is a
fault associated with a DC channel, the channel is indicated in the first six digits
of the binary value:
SV1.1.1-Current fault = NO FLT NONE
1. SV1.1.1-Current fault = 1069
2. Binary (1069) = 000001 0000101101
3. Decimal (0000101101) = 45 → F45: General Isolation
For this case, it is [F45: General Isolation] on channel 1.
Note: For further information about faults and warnings, please consult the Annex
01 – Troubleshooting (HEMG3SW01AN01).
When a module fault results in a system fault, this parameter shows the number
SV1.1.2-Current fault module = 0 NONE of the module that has produced the original fault. If several modules have
produced the fault, it will show the last module that reported it.
Shows the current warning code in case there is any. The interpretation of the
parameter warnings follows the same procedure as described in [SV1.1.1-Current
SV1.1.3-Current warning = NO WRN NONE fault].
Note: For further information about faults and warnings, please consult the Annex
01 – Troubleshooting (HEMG3SW01AN01).
Shows the current status of the inverter.

Parameters within this group show the state of each fault (0 = Not active; X = Active) in groups of 16
faults (being the lowest number the bit to the upmost right).
NONE
Displays the fault state 17 to 32.
This subgroup allows to visualise the list of the last ten faults of the system in chronological order. The
parameters that register the date contain two Modbus addresses corresponding to the date and time
of the fault history register. Refer to the Parameters table document (SW Manual HEMG3SW01) for
the Modbus registers of each parameter.
The following is an example of how the date and time registers for each fault are interpreted internally.
The parameters return decimal numbers recording the date and time of the fault occurred. This
information must be transformed into binary and then converted back to decimal. The process is as
follows. Example:
• Date: 5/9/2037
o Day (5): it is transformed into binary by shifting 11 bits to the left obtaining 0010 1000 0000 0000
0000. The decimal value is 10240.
o Month (9): transformed into binary by shifting 7 bits to the left to obtain 0100 1000 0000. The
decimal value is 1152.
o Year (2037): 2000 must be subtracted from the year. The decimal value is 37.
Once the decimal values of the date have been obtained, they are added together to obtain 11429.
This value is read by Modbus. For the time the process is similar:
• Time: 16:11
o Time (16): it is transformed into binary by shifting 8 bits to the left, obtaining 0001 0000 0000 0000
0000. The decimal value is 4096.
o Minutes (11): The decimal value is 11.
When adding the decimals that have come out of the hour and minute conversion, the value is 4107.
This value is read by Modbus.

the inverter is connected to the grid frequency cannot vary, but, if there is an island, the frequency will

If the SCADA or PPC does not update the value in the PPC Heartbeat variable and a time greater than
that indicated by parameter [G6.5.10- Ramp act time] elapses, the active and reactive power reference
is modified to those configured in parameters [G6.5.3-Home P ref] and [G6.5.4-Home Q ref]. The
gradients with which the inverter works to reach these references are those configured in parameters
[G6.5.5-P rec ramp] and [G6.5.6-Q rec ramp].
If before the time set in [G6.5.10-Ramp act time] expires, communications are re-established, the
equipment will go to the references indicated by the SCADA or PPC with the recovery ramps [G6.5.5- EN
P rec ramp] and [G6.5.6-Q rec ramp]. When the new references indicated by the SCADA or PPC are
reached, operation is resumed with the initially configured operating values.
If the time indicated by parameter [G6.5.10- Ramp act time] has expired and the time indicated by
[G6.5.1-Home refs timeout] has also expired, then the P and Q references are modified to those
configured in parameters [G6.5.3-Home P ref] and [G6.5.4-Home Q ref] according to the type of P and
Q control that is configured at that time, and the W152: PPC Communications warning is triggered. If
communications are re-established before the loss of communications time expires, proceed in the
same way as in the previous paragraph.
On the other hand, if the three times indicated in parameters [G6.5.10-Ramp act time], [G6.5.1-Home
refs timeout] and [G6.5.2-Comm timeout] expire, fault F51: PPC Communications is triggered. At this
point, the inverter stops. The equipment is configured to work with the operation references defined by
the SCADA or PPC. Once the fault has been resolved, the inverter will go to the references indicated
by means of the recovery ramps [G6.5.5-P rec ramp] and [G6.5.6-Q rec ramp].
If the PPC or SCADA writes a zero to the PPC Heartbeat variable, the system is disabled. This step is
equivalent to setting [G6.5.1-Timeout refs to home] and [G6.5.2-Timeout de com] to "Disabled".

Supported Modbus function codes
Serial communications protocol provided by FREESUN inverters adheres to Modicon's industrial
standard communications protocol, Modbus. The inverter uses the following two reading and writing
functions from the Modbus protocol:
The implementation of this function code in the inverter allows reading up to 120 registers of a parameter
group in a single frame. To access consecutive memory registers, but belonging to different groups, the
request should be performed using as many frames as groups are involved.
The implementation of this function code in the inverter allows reading up to 120 registers with
consecutive addresses of the inverter in a single frame.
In the next example, a frame is shown where the master tries to read the minimum DC voltage via
communications. The information that should be attached in the request frame is the following one:
