Pg. 16

1.Ans:
Robert Elliot Kahn and Vinton Gray Cerf developed TCP/IP in 1978.

2.Ans:
Two types of wired media:Twisted pair cable,Coaxial Cables.
Optical fibre cables are more durable.

E.Short Answer Questions.:

Pg. 16

1.Ans:
The term network topology refers to the way in which the nodes(computer or
other devices that need to communicate)of a network are linked together.

2.LAN:
a.Local Area Netwok.
b.It connects computers and devices located close to one another, such as
many computers in one building.
c.Example:computers connected in an office.

WAN:
a. Wide Area Netwok.
b. It connects LAN and MAN together.
c. Example:Internet and ATM facility.
3.Ans:
It helps by improving online ticket booking, real –time train tracking schedules
and passenger information.

E.Long Answer Questions.:

Pg. 16

1.Ans:
a.star topology
Advantages:
 It has minimal line cost.
 It any of the local computers fails, the remaining portion of the network
remains unaffected.
Disadvantages:
 The system entirely depends on the central switch. If it fails, the entire
network goes down.
b.mesh topology
Advantages:
 Failure of one node does not affect the rest of the network.
 Communication is very fast between any two nodes.
 Changes in the network are done easily without interrupting other
nodes.
Disadvantages:
 It is the most expensive network as ther are many redundant
connections.
 Maintenance of this network is very difficult.

2.Ans:
 Your computer is a workstation on the network. It is connected to the
other computers and devices by a communication channel, such as
cable.
 A file file server is a computer that distributes or serves application
programs and data files to the workstation.
 Printer is usually attached to the file server. It is referred to as a
nretwork printer.

3.Ans:
In a computer laboratory, information sharing works through a LAN
where all computers are connected, allowing students to sharefiles, printers
and resources securely within the group.

4.Ans:
There are many ways to transfer photos from a mobile phone to a computer
without using the internet. The easiest and fastest method is using a USB
cable. However, if you don’t have a cable, you can also use Bluetooth, a
memory card, or a pen drive with an OTG cable. All these methods are safe
and do not require any internet connection.
