Department of Industrial & Production Engineering
Course Code: EEE 1183 (Electrical Engineering-I)

Assignmet-1

1. For the following figures determine the values of

a) 𝐼𝑆𝑖 , 𝐼𝐺𝑎𝐴𝑠 , 𝐼𝑅𝐿 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑉𝑜 for the for the figure 1(i).
b) 𝐼𝑆𝑖 , 𝐼𝐺𝑎𝐴𝑠 , 𝐼𝑅𝐿 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑉𝑜 for the for the figure 1(ii).
c) Explain why 𝐼𝑆𝑖 , 𝐼𝐺𝑎𝐴𝑠 , 𝐼𝑅𝐿 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑉𝑜 values different in both the cases.
d) Break down the reason exactly what happens inside the circuit by adding an extra 2 kΩ resistance
in series with each diode so that current starts following through GaAs diode in Fig. 1(ii). Explain
the reason with an established theorem.

4. Write short notes on each of the following circuits. Analyze their working step by step, illustrate the input
and output waveforms, and derive the transfer function for each case:

a) Two level clippers.

b) Limiter.
c) Slicers.
d) Positive slicers.
e) Negative slicers.

5. Refer to Figure 5, find and draw the following voltage waveforms in relationship to the input waveforms:
VAB, VAD, and VCD. A double letter subscript indicates a voltage from one point to another.
