Slide 1: Introduction
Presenter: Jeremy
Hello everyone, and thank you for being here.
Today, we bring you a project titled "Unseen Suffering: Making Invisible Humanitarian Crises
Impossible to Ignore."
Around the world, millions of people endure unimaginable hardship yet their stories never make
headlines.
Through this project, we highlight three severely underreported crises and more importantly, how
technology can amplify their voices and drive global attention.
Slide 2: Rohingya Refugee Crisis
Presenter: Edric
Let's start with the Rohingya refugee crisis in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Despite being one of the world's largest displacements, it often goes unnoticed.
Why?
- It's overshadowed by other global events.
- Journalists have limited access to the affected areas.
Consequences:
- Over 900,000 people live in cramped refugee camps.
- They suffer from healthcare shortages, poor sanitation, and lack of education.
Technology solutions:
- Drone mapping for better camp planning
- Blockchain for secure aid
- AI to track public/media awareness
Slide 3: Madagascar Climate Drought
Presenter: Jianyi
Next, we turn to southern Madagascar, where climate change is silently devastating lives.
Why is it ignored?
- Lacks geopolitical interest
- Seen as a localized issue
Impact:
- Over 1 million people face severe food insecurity
- Children are suffering from malnutrition
Tech can help:
- Satellite imaging for real-time drought tracking
- AI crop prediction models
- Mobile alert systems for food aid
Slide 4: Tigray Conflict
Presenter: Weng Khooi
Now, to the Tigray region in Ethiopia.
This conflict is mostly unheard of due to:
- Information blackouts
- Political sensitivities
The humanitarian toll:
- Famine conditions
- Thousands dead or displaced
Technology solutions:
- Crowdsourced reporting platforms (like Ushahidi)
- Data dashboards for mapping
- Encrypted comms for NGOs
Slide 5: Why Crises Go Underreported
Presenter: Jeremy
Across these crises, patterns emerge:
- Media bias and prioritization
- Limited access to conflict zones
- Political suppression and censorship
- Public disaster fatigue
Just because it isn't reported, doesn't mean it isn't real.
Slide 6: How Tech Helps
Presenter: Edric
Awareness:
- Satellites, drones, and AI to detect unrest via social media
Aid Coordination:
- Blockchain ensures transparent aid
- Dashboards help coordinate response
Global Engagement:
- VR storytelling
- AI-powered advocacy campaigns with influencers
Slide 7: Visuals & Media
Presenter: Jianyi
Use strong imagery:
- Drone images of Rohingya camps
- Climate maps of Madagascar
- Infographics on aid gaps
Sources: UNHCR, Amnesty, Open-license platforms
Slide 8: Prompt Design
Presenter: Weng Khooi
We used focused prompts like:
1. 'Underreported crises in Southeast Asia'
2. 'Tech for displaced populations'
Prompt design helped us shift from regional to global, and from causes to tech solutions
Slide 9: Summary & Call to Action
Presenter: All
Jeremy: Let's recap millions are suffering in silence.
Edric: But with the right tools, we can shine a spotlight where the world has looked away.
Jianyi: Technology doesn't just connect people it can save lives.
Weng Khooi: So let's use innovation to give a voice to the voiceless.
All: Together, we can make invisible disasters impossible to ignore again.
