Today I Learned
Today I learned about Moses and the Ten Commandments. Today I learned the fifth commandment. Memory Verse:
Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, that your
days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
Questions to Ask:
1. Read Exodus 34:10. Discuss this verse with your child 2. What is the third commandment? 3. What is the fourth commandment? 4. What does honor mean? 5. What is the fifth commandment?
Family Time: Review with your child the memory verse everyday. Reward them and explain to them the importance of knowing Gods word!

Honor: Treating others as special, doing more than what is expected of you, having a good attitude
God always wanted everyone to honor their parents. He made the fifth commandment so no one would forget. Honor is when we do things without someone asking us, like picking up our toys. Honor is remembering house rules, like no hitting. Honor is when we see someone needs help, we go and help them with out them asking. When we honor our daddy and mommy, we are good to them, we obey them and we show them our love. When we honor daddy and mommy, we are honoring God. We show God we love Him when we listen to them, follow their rules, act nice and have a good attitude toward them and our brothers and/or sisters.

How to practice Honor
If its broken, fix it. If its empty, fill it up. If its open, close it. If its out, put it away. If its messy, clean it up. If you cant, then report it. Thats honor.

Crafts and Ideas: Chore/character pages (make enough copies for each child)
Create a poster titled This is How I Honor my Father and
Mother or My New Ways to Honor. Each child will cut out the chores that they can do at home and all the character printables. Make a collage and decorate the poster with their name and pictures. Encourage them to follow the chores and the way they need to act at home and in other places.
Chore/Character Reminder necklace: (Print on Cardstock)
Have the child cut out the chores that they can do at home and all the character printables. Color. Punch two holes on the top on each card. String a yarn or lanyard through all of them. Make it long enough to wear around their neck. Encourage them to wear it through out their day to remember how to honor God and their parents.
Honor Book: Have the child cut out the chores that they can
