II. Course Information

a) Course Objectives and Course Summary
Course Objectives
a) To understand the concept of alternating current waves.
b) To get the ability for analyzing various electrical networks with ac source.
c) To be familiar with the applications of ac networks.
Course Summary
This course introduces the students to alternating current sources especially on sinusoidal voltage and
current waveforms. It familiarizes the students with phasor diagram for the series and parallel ac
networks. To enable students for solving ac circuits, the course introduces the network theorems and
their applications. The course also focuses on the major applications of alternating current sources like
resonance and filter. Students will also be exposed to the magnetic circuits, balance and unbalance
polyphase system. The course ends with the discussion on two port network and its applications.
