GUEST FACULTY ADVERTISEMENT NO. 3 OF 2025

Applications are invited for engagement of Guest Faculty under Mizoram University
for Department as detailed under PART B: DETAILS OF DEPARTMENT. The engagement
shall be strictly on ‘per lecture basis’. Honorarium shall be at the rate of Rs 1,500/- per
lecture subject to a maximum of Rs 50,000/- per month for UGC Guest Faculty. Any
subsequent revision in the rate of honorarium shall be applicable only after a decision to
this effect is made by the Mizoram University.

The current advertisement is on the basis of the anticipated requirement. Conduct


of the interview and/or engagement as Guest Faculty shall be subject to the actual
requirement of the University from time to time. Interview, if scheduled is likely to be held
at short notice. Applicants should, therefore refer to the website of Mizoram University
(www.mzu.edu.in) regularly for any update in this regard.

PART A: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The prescribed format of application and other required materials may be downloaded
from Mizoram University website, www.mzu.edu.in.

2. Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least
the minimum essential qualifications, furnished with clarity, as laid down in the
advertisement.

3. Applications should be supported by relevant documents (self certified) in all respects.


Claims of educational qualifications should be supported by Certificates/Marksheets.

4. Application after the last date, incomplete in any respect and any fresh
paper/enclosures after the closing date, shall not be considered. Canvassing directly or
indirectly at any stages of the process will lead to disqualification.

5. The qualifications for Guest Faculty shall be the same as those prescribed for the
regular Assistant Professors of Universities/Colleges in the
UGC/AICTE/NCTE/COA/RCI Regulations as the case may be, and as decided by
Mizoram University.

6. The University reserves the right to verify the antecedents or documents submitted by
a candidate at any time. In case of fake documents, clandestine antecedents or
suppression of information, engagement in the University shall be terminated.

7. The crucial date for reckoning possession of educational and other qualifications,
possession of required experience, etc. is the last date of submission of application.

8. The National Eligibility Test (NET) or an accredited test (State Level Eligibility Test:
SLET/SET) shall remain the minimum eligibility wherever provided in the UGC
(Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in
Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in
Higher Education) Regulations, 2018. SLET/SET shall be valid as the minimum
eligibility in the respective state only.

Provided that candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with
the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of
M.Phil/Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their subsequent amendments
from time to time, as the case may be, shall be exempted from the requirement of the
minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET.

Provided further that the award of degree to candidates registered for the Ph.D
programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then
existing Ordinances/By-laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and
such Ph.D candidates shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET
subject to the fulfillment of the following conditions:-

a) The Ph.D degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode;
b) The Ph.D thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
c) An open Ph.D viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D work, out of
which at least one is in a refereed journal;
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in
conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or any
similar agency.

The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean (Academic
Affairs) of the University concerned).

9. Applicants awarded degrees by foreign Universities are required to submit Equivalence


Certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. The University
reserves the right to require Equivalence Certificate for various degrees from any of the
applicant.

10. The completeness of the submitted application is the sole responsibility of the
applicant. The University shall not be responsible for any delay/loss due to postal or
technical reasons.

11. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the advertisement and in the process of selection,
which may be detected at any stage, even after actual engagement as Guest Faculty, the
University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to
the candidate.

12. On any matters related to the current advertisement and in the subsequent process of
selection, any decision and/or interpretation of Mizoram University shall be final.

13. Experience Certificate: All claims of experience shall be supported by an experience
Certificate which is clear and complete in all respects.

(a) The experience certificate shall be in proper format i.e., it shall bear the
organisation’s letter-head, bear the date of issue , specific period of work, name
and designation of issuing authority along with signature and official seal.
(b) Appointment letter and such other documents issued at the initial stage of
appointment/engagement i.e., before completion of the experience under
consideration shall not be accepted as valid proof of the period of work.
(c) The experience certificate shall reflect the rate of
salary/honorarium/remuneration OR a separate supporting document
reflecting the rate of salary/honorarium/remuneration shall be enclosed.
(d) For the purpose of screening criteria for Guest Faculty, the teaching/post-
doctoral/professional experience shall be considered if the
salary/honorarium/remuneration is at least at the rate of Rs. 25,000 per month.
(e) The decision of Mizoram University in any matters related to
teaching/research/post-doctoral/professional experience shall be final.

14. Applicants are required to submit their ‘Application (Annexure I)’along with the
‘Criteria for Guest Faculty (Annexure II)’ with relevant supporting documents.

15. Last date of receipt of complete application is 7th August, 2025. Candidates applying
more than one Department should submit separate application.

16. Application should be submitted by email only. Scanned/PDF copy of the application
should be sent to the concerned Department as per email IDs provided in PART B:
DETAILS OF DEPARTMENT.

PART C: MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR GUEST FACULTY

Note: The time taken by candidates to acquire M.Phil and/or Ph.D degree shall not be
considered as teaching/research experience.

Note: For those disciplines in which the National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the
University Grants Commission or Council of Scientific and Industrial Research as the
case may be, or State level Eligibility Test (SLET) or the State Eligibility Test (SET) is
conducted by bodies accredited by the UGC for the said purpose, qualifying in
NET/SLET/SET shall be an additional requirement.

(I). For the Disciplines in Engineering & Technology

Eligibility:
B.E./B.Tech/B.S. and M.E./M. Tech/M.S. or Integrated M. Tech. in relevant branch with first
class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.

Note: Candidates who have done Ph.D after the Bachelor’s Degree from institution of National
importance with GATE/GPAT/CEED shall be eligible for engagement as Guest Faculty.

(II). For the Disciplines of Education & ITEP


Education:
i) Post Graduate degree in Social Science or Biological Science with minimum 55%
marks or equivalent grade with Post Graduate degree in Education (M.Ed) with
minimum 55% marks or equivalent grade
ii) Master’s Degree in Arts (Education) with minimum 55% marks or equivalent
grade.
iii) Sl. No. (i) and (ii) should also have NET/SLET or Ph.D in Education or any other
qualification prescribed by UGC for these categories of posts.

ITEP:
i) Post Graduate degree in Science (Physics or Chemistry or Botany or Zoology or
Life Sciences or Bio-Science) or Mathematics or Social Sciences (History or
Geography or Political Science or Economics) or Languages (English or Modern
Indian Languages or Classical Languages) with minimum fifty-five percent
marks.
ii) B.Ed degree with minimum fifty-five percent marks or equivalent grade.
iii) National Eligibility Test or State Level Eligibility Test or Doctor Philosophy in
Education or in the concerned subject as prescribed by the University Grants
Commission.
Desirable:
i) M.Ed or M.Ed. with specialisation in Elementary Education
ii) Ph.D in Education

(III). For the Disciplines of Sciences and Languages


Eligibility (A or B):
A.
(i) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale
wherever the grading system is followed) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject
from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign
university.

(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR or a similar test
accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D
Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards
and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and
their amendments from time to time as the case may be, shall be exempted from
NET/SLET/SET:

Provided, the candidates registered for the Ph.D programme prior to July 11, 2009,
shall be governed by the provisions of the then existing Ordinances/By-
laws/Regulations of the Institution awarding the degree and such Ph.D candidates
shall be exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET subject to the fulfillment
of the following conditions:-
a) The Ph.D degree of the candidate has been awarded in regular mode;
b) The Ph.D thesis has been evaluated by at least two external examiners;
c) An open Ph.D viva voce of the candidate has been conducted;
d) The candidate has published two research papers from his/her Ph.D work, out of
which at least one is in a refereed journal;
e) The candidate has presented at least two papers based on his/her Ph.D work in
conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or
any similar agency.
The fulfillment of these conditions is to be certified by the Registrar or the Dean

(iii) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in
disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar
test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.

B. The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with
a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one
of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education
(THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai
Jiao Tong University (Sanghai).
Note: Candidates who have done Ph.D after the Bachelor’s Degree from institution of National
importance with GATE/GPAT/CEED shall be eligible for engagement as Guest Faculty.
