The parables of Jesus.

What are they? When and why are they used? How many are there? Where are they found?

What are parables?
The parables are narratives, brief stories, clear, simple, and their purpose
It is to convey a lesson in the most understandable and easy to remember way.
all highlight the smallness of beginnings; and the gradual growth
of this Kingdom; its regenerative strength for those called by God to
the salvation, which they will attain if they respond to that vocation. Jesus preaches
using parables, that is, vivid examples, images taken from life
ordinary, providing them with rich and broad content. After a year of traveling
the ways of Palestine, preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom and confirming its
doctrine with countless miracles. Many believe, others do not. Jesus speaks
of the Kingdom of God with tact and uses parables in which, without hiding that it is
saying new things encourages listeners to become interested and warns them: "who
let him who has ears to hear, hear." Those who have a heart will understand.

The parables of Jesus.
The Kingdom (or the reign) speaks of the authority of God.
Matthew prefers to use the expression 'kingdom of heaven', for the Jews,
to whom he directed his gospel, avoided pronouncing the word God. Mark and

expressions. John the Baptist was the first to announce it. For a long time
time, the Jews hoped that God would intervene in a decisive way,
to free them from their enemies and restore Israel. The Messiah was to establish
the kingdom of God. One of the central themes of the prophecies of the Old
Testament was the future manifestation of the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom is present:
For Jesus, the Kingdom (the reign, the authority) of God was already present in
his person and in his ministry. The Kingdom of God was visibly manifested in
the expulsion of demons; the power of Satan was defeated.
The Kingdom is future:
Until now, the kingdom is only partially present in this world. The
miracles of Jesus were proofs and signs of another reality, which will return
still. In many of his parables, Jesus teaches that the kingdom extends
in secret, invisibly, but that will later impose its authority on the
kingdoms of the earth, when the end of the current order of the world arrives.
The Kingdom and the Church
The Kingdom and the Church are closely united, but they are not identical. The Church
it is the entirety of those who belong to Christ Jesus and who
they accepted Him as Lord and King of their lives. But the

manifested in the book of Acts, by the apostles filled with authority
and power, and that they continued to act as Jesus had done. In
the present, the Kingdom manifests in the life of all those who accepted
Christ as Savior and King and who were changed and made powerful by
the power of the Holy Spirit. In the parables of Matthew 13, Jesus revealed that his
The kingdom would not become visible right away. He spoke of a period of coexistence,
where the children of the Kingdom and the children of evil should coexist side by side
another. This revelation may have discouraged those who were expecting to see physically
the coming of the Kingdom.
Certainly some said, 'What is the use of an invisible kingdom?', or 'Who wants ...

these questions are found in the last two parables of Matthew 13:

A). THE PARABLE OF THE HIDDEN TREASURE.

A man is working in a field that does not belong to him. Suddenly,
find a treasure! The Greek word speaks of a 'place where goods are'
"precious things are preserved," "a chest." Open the chest, and what do you see?
is full of money, gold, and diamonds. Wow! So, seeing that no one
Havisto, quickly bury the chest again. Then, filled with joy,
sell everything that is necessary to buy this land, to be an owner
of the treasure! The parable teaches the immense value of the Kingdom! It is like a
treasure! Whoever discovers this treasure must understand that it is worth more than
anything else.

B). THE PARABLE OF THE PEARL OF GREAT PRICE.

At that time, pearls were considered the most expensive adornment. They were very
sought after by merchants, who were always willing to go far for
to look for them. The most expensive ones came from the Indian Ocean.
In the parable, Jesus shows us only three facts; He says, "a
merchant seeks good pearls; finds a precious pearl; goes and sells all that he has
what he has, and buys the pearl”; and this is enough for the message to pass.
The parable teaches, like the previous one, the value of the Kingdom and the fact that a
Once discovered, it is the most important thing in your life.

The message of the parables of the Kingdom:

The parables of the wheat and the tares (Matt. 13:24-30), of the hidden treasure (Matt.
13:44) and from the net (Mat. 13:47-50) are found only in the gospel

for them. The parables of the tares and the net revealed an aspect
of the Kingdom that had not yet been revealed, (Mat. 13:34-35). The Jews believed
that from the arrival of the Messiah, the kingdom of God would be established
immediately on the earth and that Israel would be restored. The apostles believed in
this, even after the death and resurrection of
Jesus. Acts 1:6 says,
Then those who had gathered asked him, saying: Lord,
Will you restore the kingdom to Israel at this time?
They were unaware that in God's plan there was a period between the arrival of
Messiah and the earthly establishment of the kingdom of God. The parables of the
tares, they talk about this period, between the rejection of Jesus and his
future return as King. This period includes the period of the church: these
parables then describe our time. They describe how the Kingdom of
God will be during this time, where the King is physically absent from the
earth. It is the period between the first coming of Christ and before Christ did not
come, to establish the kingdom promised to David.

Let's read the parable of the tares. Mat. 13:24-31 and the explanation given.
