By- Abhishek, City Reporter
Meerut, 10 March 2025– A major fire broke out in the busy local market area yesterday
afternoon, causing widespread panic among the people. The fire started at around 2:00
PM in one of the shops and quickly spread to nearby stores, damaging several
businesses. Firefighters rushed to the scene and worked for hours to control the blaze.
Thankfully, no casualties were reported, but many shops suffered significant damage,
and goods worth lakhs were destroyed in the flames.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick smoke rising from the market, with people running
for safety. "It was terrifying. The fire spread so fast, and we had to evacuate quickly,"
said one of the local vendors. The local police also reached the spot to help manage the
crowd and ensure that everyone stayed at a safe distance. The cause of the fire is still
under investigation, but experts believe it could have been triggered by an electrical
fault.
The authorities have promised to look into the safety measures in the area and ensure
that such incidents do not happen in the future. The local fire department is conducting
an investigation into the cause of the fire, and the affected shop owners are expected to
receive some compensation. The incident has once again highlighted the need for better
