ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES

To ensure fairness, integrity and consistency in in the examination process, the


following rules should be adhered to by all exam invigilators and markers:

Exam invigilation

• Ensure proper arrangement and spacing of the learners.


• Distribute exam papers and answer sheets promptly and ensure all learners
receive the correct question papers.
• Monitor learners closely to prevent cheating or misconduct. Walk around the
room periodically.
• Address any learner’s queries promptly, ensuring no unfair assistance is
provided.
• Record the start and end times of the exam visibly on the whiteboard.
• Remind learners the time remaining before the end of the exam.
• Guide learners in answering questions step by step to ensure proper answering
of questions without rushing to finish.
• Handle any disruptions such as noise calmly and professionally.
• Check the learners’ papers before collecting to ensure all questions have been
answered.

Marking of the assessment

• Mark assessments objectively and consistently. Only correct answers should be


given a mark.
• Ensure accuracy when marking.
• Correct spellings to be strictly followed.
• Provide clear and constructive feedback where necessary.
• Double check the marking and total marks to avoid errors.
• Compile mark lists accurately and timely. Write everything in capital letters.

General conduct

• Always maintain professionalism.


• Treat all learners fairly and without bias.
• Follow the exam invigilation and marking guidelines.
