Short Film Script
SCENE 1
DAY 1
The female lead- Aanya is rearranging food on her plate, and smiling faintly at friends during
lunch.
Tanisha - “is it another one of your new diets?”
Kriti- “Aanya you should eat more, maybe if you stop being picky, you’ll gain some weight.”
Priya - “let her be Kriti, it’s probably just a phase…every girl goes through one.”
Aanya sighs softly as the rest of the table gets engaged in conversation. “What if they are
right?”
Before she leaves home maybe we can show the scene of her vomiting so
after she eats her food, she rushes to the college bathroom and vomits ( edit a
scene of vomiting sounds)
Transition from Scene 1 to Scene 2( Filler scene) -
After her conversation with her friends, Aanya finds herself feeling lonely and sad after her
friends mention her eating habits ( and after she vomits) . She silently goes back home in
her car feeling blank and mundane ( She needs to look almost blank with sad emotions on
her face while shooting this scene, she needs to look zoned out while driving her car).
SCENE 2
DAY 1
Cut to Aanya in her room, staring at herself in the mirror. Her expression is neutral, almost
detached.
Aanya (Voiceover):
“Maybe it really is just a phase, even my mother said last week that I am just picky…so
many
people can’t be wrong.”
SCENE 3
DAY 2
[Flashback Scene: Aanya at a family dinner, when her mom called her
picky] She pushes food around her plate. Her mother worriedly looks at her.
Mother: “You’ve always been like this, so picky about food… stop playing with your food
and eat everything on your plate!
Aanya weakly nods, but couldn’t eat…pushes her plate away and goes to her room, leaving
her mother grumbling in the background.
[flashback over]
SCENE 4
2 weeks later…
DAY 3
[Scene: Aanya with friends at the campus eating food]
She orders a black coffee while her friends get full meals.
Tanisha: “Don't tell me you are still on that cleanse…You’re so disciplined. I wish I had your
willpower...because clearly whatever you are doing is working so well”
[Kriti and Priya nod in silent agreement]
Aanya shrugs, sipping her coffee. Her stomach growls quietly.
{In the background we will show soaumya’s character, where she is sitting next to their table
and shooting a video for her Instagram channel, Krisha will glance at Soaumya and sigh}
Narrator (Voiceover): [she is stirring her black coffee, staring in the cup like it would have
answers]
Discipline. Willpower. Control.
Words that sound like praise.
But they echo louder than her hunger.
Transition from Scene 4 to scene 5- We need to show the car scene where she is
driving and is almost sad/blank( kind of trying to show the repetition or monotonous
behaviour she has after hearing those words about her eating habits)
SCENE 5
DAY 3
[Scene: Aanya alone in her room after coming back home]
She weighs herself. Write numbers in a journal. Her face shows no joy, no relief—just
calculation.
lays down in the bed, staring at the ceiling [room is dark] and the voiceover starts.
Narrator (Voiceover):
She doesn’t know she’s sick.
Because no one told her she could be.
Because when pain wears a smile, it’s easy to miss.
The body keeps score.
Fatigue. Dizziness. Isolation.
But the mind keeps denying.
SCENE 6
DAY 4
Transition to part -2
Aanya sits on her bed, scrolling through fitness reels. Her stomach growls again. She
ignores it.
Narrator (Voiceover):
She’s not picky.
She’s not on a cleanse.
She’s not fine.
But no one sees it.
Not even her.
SCENE 7: BEDROOM – EVENING
DAY 5
(Aanya lies curled up on her bed, scrolling on Instagram absentmindedly. Her face is pale,
drawn. She skips a video of someone eating noodles, frowns at a “What I eat in a day: 600
calories” reel, and suddenly stops.)
REEL AUDIO (INFLUENCER – upbeat but real):
“Hey. If you’re terrified of gaining weight, skipping meals on purpose, over-exercising, or
feel like food is the enemy — that’s not ‘being healthy.’ That might be an eating disorder. And
no, drinking water instead of eating isn’t quirky. It’s dehydration.”
(Krisha blinks. Rewind. Watch again. Her face drops.)
SCENE 8: PHONE SCREEN – POV SCROLLING THROUGH INFLUENCER
ACCOUNT
DAY 5
🔹 🩷
@HealingHungries
Bio: “Eating disorder recovery. Not a diet page. Your healing buddy .”
REEL 1 – Influencer (Soaumya) in hoodie, holding coffee:
“Fun fact: Being called ‘too thin’ all the time while secretly crying over a piece of toast? Not
a flex. That’s called Anorexia Nervosa.”
REEL 2 – Sitting on bathroom floor, looking tired:
“Ever binge on a ton of food in secret and then force yourself to throw up or over-exercise
from guilt? Yeah. That’s not a lack of willpower. That’s called Bulimia Nervosa. And no, you
can’t sweat away shame.”
REEL 3 – Text overlay
“DSM-5 says: Eating disorders aren’t about food. They’re about fear, control, self-worth.”
REEL 4 – Sarcastic voiceover
“Reminder: Pinterest smoothie bowls won’t fix distorted body image. Therapy might.”
(watches reel 4 for 30 secs atleast)
(Aanya stares at the screen. Then at her reflection. Long silence.)
Aanya (whispers to herself)
Wait… this is… me?
Then she has a flashback- ( CHANGE OF CLOTHES)
(Aanya was having a comforting meal, and that person (relative/friend) is passing a
comment while she is having her comfort food)
Mean Friend/relative- beta you have changed na thoda, like thoda chubby-plum haina?
(This is the trigger to her ED)
Then a pattern of-
Pushing plates away, saying no to someone offering food, a friend offers from her tiffin, but
she refuses, feeling tired, etc.
No dialogues apart from the comment, just a montage. (can be shot from above, no
dialogue)
FOLLOWED BY THE NEXT SCENE 9
- DAY 6
Option-1
seeking advice from elder sister
BEDROOM – EVENING
Aanya sits on her bed, phone in hand, scrolling reels. One talks about therapy. She
hesitates, then looks at her elder sister, Ritika.
Aanya (quietly):
Didi… do you think I should try therapy? I saw people talking about it online.
Ritika (sits beside her):
If you feel it could help, then yes. It’s not weakness, Aanya, it’s courage.
Aanya (nervous):
But what if Maa-Papa don’t understand?
Ritika (gently):
Then we’ll help them understand. You’re not alone in this.
Aanya leans into her sister, comforted. The phone screen glows with the paused reel on
therapy.
FADE OUT.

OPTION 2 - SEEKING ADVICE FROM HER COLLEGE COUNSELLOR SCENE 9
DAY 6
College– morning
Aanya came to college, passed the corridor where the counsellor's cabin is, she
hesitates...but knocks anyways.
Knocks on the college counsellors door
(Nervously)
Ritika maam (calmly):
Come in!
Aanya (nervously):
Maam do you think i can talk to you for 2 mins?
Ritika maam ( calmly with a gentle smile):
Yes of course! I am here to help you guys after all.
Aanya (quietly):
Maam, do you think I should try therapy? I saw people talking about something online and I
have seen some similar patterns....
Ritika (sits beside her):
If you feel it could help, then yes. It’s not weakness, Aanya, it’s courage.
Aanya (nervous):
But what if Maa-Papa don’t understand?
Ritika (gently and says reassuringly):
Then we’ll help them understand. You’re not alone in this.
Aanya gives a gentle but unsure smile, still comforted. The teacher slides a card on the
table, a business card of a therapist.
Ritika (gently smiling):
Just in case you decide to reach out
FADE OUT.

SCENE 10: PSYCHIATRIST’S OFFICE –
DAY 7
(Calm, minimal room. Dr. Shah( Disha) , a friendly psychiatrist in glasses, sips coffee from a
mug that says “Diagnose, not dismiss.” Aanya sits nervously opposite.)
Dr. Shah (gently):
Tell me what’s been going on.
Aanya:
I skip meals. Sometimes I feel powerful when I do. Other times, I break and eat a lot… and
then punish myself with running or just… guilt. So much guilt.
Dr. Shah:
How often does the bingeing and compensation happen?
Aanya:
At least twice a week. For months now.
Dr. Shah (nods):
What you’re describing matches the criteria for Bulimia Nervosa. The symptoms for this
disorder include recurring binge-eating episodes, followed by compensatory behaviours like
vomiting, fasting, or excessive exercise — often with a sense of losing control.
Aanya (half-laughs, nervously):
I thought I just had no discipline.
Dr. Shah (reassuring):
If guilt is your workout partner and shame is your diet coach — it’s not discipline. It’s a
disorder. And it’s not your fault.
SCENE 11: GROUP THERAPY – SOFTLY LIT ROOM ( CAN BE SAME DAY OR EITHER
DAY 8)
(A circle of four girls – Aanya, Rhea, Mira, and Simran – sit with warm lighting, herbal
tea, and tissues nearby. A handmade poster reads: “You are more than your reflection.”)
Rhea (smirking):
I had Anorexia Nervosa.. My breakfast was a cup of air and a side of anxiety.
Mira (laughing softly):
Mine was the binge-eating type. I thought hiding snacks and secrets would keep me in
control. Joke’s on me — they controlled me.
Simran (quiet but firm):
Bulimia. I used to eat like a ghost — quickly, secretly, then disappear into guilt. My stomach
hurt.
But not as much as my self-worth.
Aanya (takes a breath):
Same here. I thought I was just… ‘bad at eating.’ Turns out I had a disorder with an actual
name. And help exists.
SCENE 12: CLOSING MONTAGE ( DAY 8 OR 9)
● Mira journals: “One meal at a time.”
● Rhea smiles at herself in the mirror and eats a slice of toast.
● Simran deletes her calorie-counting app.
● Aanya reposts the influencer’s reel, caption: “If this feels like you, it’s okay to ask for
Help.”
FINAL SHOT: GROUP IN UNISON
Each girl looks at the camera and says their line.
Mira:
“I had Anorexia. It didn’t make me strong. Recovery did.”
Rhea:
“Bingeing didn’t make me weak. Silence did.”
Simran:
“Bulimia isn’t about food. It’s about pain.”
Aanya:
“And healing? It’s messy. Slow. And beautiful.”
TEXT ON SCREEN:
Eating disorders are real. Recovery is possible. Don’t self-diagnose — seek professional
help.
You are worthy. Always.
