Alright everyone, Unit 3.3 – Melting and
let’s what we can Solidifying
learn from part one
of our lesson! Lesson Objectives
Learn about how the state of
matter can be changed.
Compare the melting points of
different solids.
Consolidate our understanding of
exam technique through practice
testing.
Success Criteria!
Frogs Can explain how energy is
related to the changes in
Exceeding the states of matter.
Tadpoles Can describe the
difference between melting
Meeting and solidifying.
Eggs Can state that there are
Approaching three states of matter.

Differentiation Levels!
To give them enough energy to melt.
Ice.
Chocolate.
As more energy (thermal) is provided, the particles in the solid move (vibrate
more). Eventually they have enough energy to move out of the solid structure.
The size of the substances had to be the same, same starting temperature etc.
The ice was the first to melt because it had the lowest melting
point and so needed the least amount of thermal energy to melt.
It would evaporate and become a gas.
We apply our learning to demonstrate understanding and then reflect on this.
