Position Title: Senior Engineer – Control Systems

Reporting to: Manager - Technology

Functions to be supervised directly:

Summary of work Environment and Work performed:

The Senior Engineer – Control Systems will be responsible for the design, development, and
implementation of control systems for solar power plants and/or energy storage systems. This role
involves PLC programming, HMI/SCADA design, and hardware engineering. The engineer will interface
with PV inverters, Lithium-ion batteries, and SCADA systems using various networks such as Modbus and
Ethernet.

Specific Duties:

 Design and develop control systems, including PLC programming and HMI/SCADA design.
 Map solar power plant I/O / BESS field devices as per customer requirements.
 Develop and customize programs using structured text and ladder logic.
 Test systems in a lab environment through simulation and obtain customer approval via factory
acceptance tests.
 Install and commission control systems, including tuning closed-loop regulators and
troubleshooting process application problems for PV power plant controllers.
 Provide training to customers and service teams.
 Prepare technical offers for power plant control systems by understanding customer
requirements.
 Develop system layouts and technical specifications for control panels, I/O, SCADA/HMI, and other
components.
 Generate supporting documentation as per project and customer requirements.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience

Education:

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering.

Desired: Master’s degree in Power Systems or Power Electronics

Skills and abilities:

 Strong fundamentals in control theory, C programming, and MATLAB simulation.


 Knowledge or training in AutoCAD or other electrical design software.
 Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and innovative.
 Proficiency in Excel.
 Good academic records.

Experience:

 5-7 years of experience in PLC programming (Preferably with MELCO PLC or Beckhoff PLC), SCADA,
hardware engineering, and commissioning.
 Field engineering and commissioning experience in the solar industry or battery storage systems.
