Definition, Process, and Application of Intersubjectivity to Society
According to Edmund Husserl, the term intersubjectivity simply defined as the interchange of
thoughts and feelings, both conscious and unconscious, between two different persons or subjects.
The term originated from the word "subjectivity" which means perception or experience of a person
based on his or her perspective limited by his or her point of view. In philosophy, intersubjectivity
means something that is shared between two minds. A common agreement in the definition of an
object or subject. It is usually used to give highlight or contrast personal experiences.
A common example of intersubjectivity is agreeing on the same definition of an object. People
experience intersubjectivity when asked to define a common word that they both experience like
"money" that has a universal term in use and definition. One of the basic principles of
intersubjectivity is called communarization, it’s a social process that provides the impression that
individuals are considered as a duplicate of others and apply the concept of understanding of being
in the position of others.
The idea of intersubjectivity promotes the view that all people in society are considered as equal.
It also reflects the notion that people from different sectors of the society such as those who are
physically disabled or socioeconomic challenged are also appreciated as individuals with the same
potentials and talents as anybody else. Intersubjectivity is also deliberated as unbiased because
people in society understand the relationship of individuals without thinking of any social and
physical deficiencies. As an outcome of this, even those who are in the marginalized sector were also
viewed as significant contributors to society.
Nicholas James Vujicic who has Tetra – Amelia Syndrome and currently a motivational speaker.
He doesn't have limbs on both arms and legs but still contributes as a motivational speaker to those
who feel that they are hopeless. He is considered one of the best examples of individuals who are
physically challenged but still contributing to society.

3. Let’s Study
The use of Authentic Dialogue
Authentic Dialogue is a process of acknowledging themselves that they are part of a greater
whole and they resonate with others within the whole. If an individual set aside their personal biases
and try to see themselves in others through the process of communarization authentic dialogue
happens. There are no biases or preferences during authentic dialogue because individuals have learned
to recognize and socialize with other members and exercise oneness in society. Listening to the opinion
of others such as in classroom, office, or even in your neighborhood is considered as authentic dialogue
because you understand that individuals have different experiences and you acknowledge the facts that
their opinion is also based on their ordeal in life.
Importance of Intersubjectivity
1. It enables interaction among individuals.
2. It confirms the subjective experiences of a person.
3. It promotes oneness in the community.
4. It shows an impartial outlook among members of the society, regardless of their physical and socio-
demographic status.
5. It emphasizes that all members contribute to society.
