Stake Holders Needs
Executives, financial planning analysts (FP&A), the finance department, operational managers, procurement
analysts and other users need several types of reports and data extracts to complete their tasks.
Figure 1. Stakeholders and their varied report needs
Executives and finance staff require financial statements for period end close reporting. Such insight helps them
strategize and plan for the future.
The finance department needs to reconcile data and perform financial analysis to assure accuracy of the financial
statements. They must reconcile data and drill-down to underlying details easily.
Finance and operational managers also require additional reporting to include:
identification of exceptions to be actioned daily for timely resolution and processing of pending transactions
operational processes (e.g., review payment batch before posting)
legal reports and submissions such as a VAT register
highly formatted documents such as customer invoices
Some of the reports are needed near-real time (e.g., during the close). Other reports can wait.
Some analysis may be performed in external systems or tools (such as MS Excel).

Operational Report Tools
Oracle Analytics Publisher (formerly BI Publisher)
Oracle Analytics Publisher was previously referred to as BI publisher.
You can create highly formatted, pixel perfect reports with Analytics Publisher.
Oracle delivers predefined reports for Oracle Cloud ERP. The reports can be easily submitted or scheduled to
run by end users. You can find list of predefined Oracle Cloud ERP reports via the hyperlinks listed below:
Financials
Procurement
Project Management
Figure 14. Predefined Analytics Publisher report: Account Analysis
You can also build your own Analytics Publisher reports to support statutory and operational report needs.
Use secured list views, catalog, and folder Security for custom analytics publisher reports.
To save time, you can modify a copy of a predefined report to create your own custom report, as outlined
below:
The Customize option automatically creates a copy of a predefined report and stores it in the Shared
Folders > Custom within the business intelligence (BI) catalog.
The copy includes the report definition, folder structure, and original report permissions, and is linked
internally to the original report.
You can edit the copy of the report, leaving the original report intact. When your users open or schedule
the original report, they are actually using your custom version.
18 Cloud ERP Report and Data Extract Tools Considerations / Version [1.0]
Copyright © 2025, Oracle and/or its affiliates / Public
In addition to conveniently copying a predefined report to the Custom folder, the Customize option:
Makes it unnecessary to update processes or applications that call the report. For example, if the
original report is set up to run as a scheduled process, you don't need to change the setup. When
users submit the same scheduled process, your custom report runs instead of the original.
Automatically copies the security settings of the original report.
Removes the risk of Oracle Cloud updates overwriting your edits. If there’s an update to the original
report, your custom report is not updated in any way.
Note: The report still references the original data model. The data model is not copied. A patch that
updates the data structure of the data model might affect your custom report.
You can schedule reports using Analytics Publisher scheduler or ESS scheduler.
Often these reports process a substantial amount of data, which require implementers and customers to
understand best practices. Refer to Cloud Oracle Support -> My Knowledge and search for Oracle BI Publisher

Table 1 highlights where the various key capabilities differ.
Advanced Formatting
You can configure Financial Reporting Web Studio (FRWS) reports for real-time financial and managerial reports.
Produce high quality pixel reporting with Analytics Publisher. FDI includes Analytics Publisher report tool as well.
All other Cloud ERP report tools outlined in table above are intended to be practical online tools for interactive
analysis.
Optimized Volumes for Tools
You can process medium to high volumes of GL journals and balances with FRWS, and Smart View (SV).
Infolets, Account Monitor, Inspector, Sunburst process low volumes of transactions. They are intended for online
analysis of selected accounts and selected data (exceptions/anomalies).
Oracle transactional business intelligence (OTBI) is intended for low volumes of transactions. It is meant to be an
ad-hoc query online time to analyze specific transactional data.
Analytics Publisher can process high volumes of data. However, it is a report tool. It is not intended to be used as a
data extract tool.
FDI can process very high volumes of data. This is due to the strength of autonomous database and use of star
schemas and data aggregation capabilities.
User Skills
Cloud ERP report tools are user friendly. If you want to copy an existing Analytics Publisher report to remove
columns in the report it is not that difficult. However, if you want to build a report from scratch that would require
deeper technical skills.
Near Real Time Reporting
All the Cloud ERP report tools deliver near real time reporting, except for FDI. FDI can ingest data from ERP and
third-party systems. The ingestion tends to be scheduled to run overnight, although some businesses may
choose to run the ingestion into FDI more frequently.
Interactive
All the Cloud ERP report tools deliver interactive user interfaces to enable varied and detailed analysis, except for
Analytics Publisher.
Scheduling Options
FRWS and Analytics Publisher reports are typically scheduled as batch processes to run as per business need.
OTBI is intended for online ad-hoc queries of real-time data, but reports can be scheduled via a BI agent.
FDI performs data ingestion, firstly with an initial load followed by incremental loads.
No scheduling is needed for the following:
Infolets
Account Monitor
Inspector
Sunburst
The above inquiry tools are intended for online viewing of real-time data.

Overview Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP Data Extract Tools
Most enterprises have an IT landscape with a large footprint of custom built, third-party systems, and Oracle
Fusion Cloud Applications and Platforms.
These enterprises may need to synchronize data between third-party systems and Oracle Cloud ERP. Data
extracts from Oracle Cloud ERP to Fusion Data Intelligence Platform or an external data warehouse, are usually
required too.
Figure 17. Overview of Data Integration Flows
You may need to synchronize data between your in-house custom built / third party systems and data in Cloud
ERP. For that purpose, you can utilize available REST APIs and in certain scenarios SOAP web services.
However, there are additional benefits of having a sole source of truth with Fusion Data Intelligence Platform
(FDI). FDI includes pre-built analytics for Cloud ERP, using Business Intelligence Cloud Connector (BICC) for data
extraction. FDI also enables integration of data from third-party systems.

Optimized Volumes for Tools
If you have very high volumes of data to extract, Business Intelligence Cloud Connector (BICC) is the
recommended tool to use. It can extract data based on pre-defined View Objects for Cloud ERP data to data
warehouses. If you use FDI ERP Analytics, those BICC ERP extracts are provided out of the box. Use an initial load,
followed by incremental loads for improved performance.
BICC is available as part of the Oracle Cloud Fusion Applications subscription.
Analytics Publisher delivers predefined operational reports, which can process high transaction volumes which
can be exported as CSV files for import into external systems. If you are extracting medium to high volumes can
consider using Analytics Publisher reports for that purpose but ensure you do limit the from / to parameter values
to keep volumes to a reasonable level.
Caution: If your Analytics Report is likely to produce an output of over one million records, we recommend
you use Business Intelligence Cloud Connector instead to extract such data.
REST APIs (with ‘get’ commands) addresses the need of sharing data externally of single real-time transaction
data between Cloud ERP and external systems. Therefore, it is suitable for low volumes of transactions. REST APIs
provide efficient web services that are used to view (get) real time single transaction- or master data values. For
example, ‘Get an invoice,’ ‘Get all invoices’ or ‘Get all account balances’ (Ledger Balances).
In some use cases, a REST API may not exist for specific meta or transaction data for single real-time sharing of
transaction data between Cloud ERP and external systems. In such scenarios, you can review if Simple Object
Access Protocol (SOAP) web services exist instead. Use SOAP web services to integrate with or extend Oracle
Applications Cloud. For example, you need to verify (‘get command’) whether a collection of newly created
account code combinations in Cloud ERP is valid for integration with another concurrently operated legacy
financial host system.
Invoke via Webservice
All tools in table 2 can be invoked via webservices.
Extract to External Repository
BICC, REST APIs, and SOAP webservices can extract data to external repositories. Analytics Publisher should not
be used for very high volume data extracts to external repositories.
Support for Incremental Extracts
BICC supports incremental extracts through Financials, Procurement and Projects Data Stores, refer to scheduling
options below.
REST APIs, SOAP web services, and Analytics Publisher do not support incremental extracts.
Scheduling Options
To extract data from Cloud ERP, you use the BICC Console to schedule a once only or regular data load, known as
a Cloud Extract. For example, you might extract high volumes of data from Cloud ERP to say an external data
warehouse of your choice. BICC Data Stores for Financials and Procurement provide a large number of view
objects (VOs) and their attributes which can be used for extracting data out of Cloud ERP.
Data Access Security
Analytics Publisher, REST APIs, and SOAP webservices data access security is based on your ERP security
configuration.
BICC, however, is intended for very high volume data extracts to an external data warehouse or FDI. Therefore,
you would extract data across ledgers and business units without data access security restrictions.
FDI provides data-level security and enables fine-grained access. It ensures that your team or users can share
reports but see only data to which they have been assigned access.

Conclusion
We hope this document helped you identify the appropriate Cloud ERP report tools to address a variety of your
business needs.
It also highlights how you can benefit from prebuilt ERP Analytics in FDI.
To help you decide on Cloud ERP data extract approach, the data volume is the key to identify the data extraction
tool to use.
