Introduction to SAP Utilities Core
SAP Utilities Core provides the essential capabilities of the Utilities meter-to-cash and related processes
under one single offering. The solution covers the business processes of customer service, metering, billing,
invoicing, financial accounting, and process management.
The solution comes in two versions:
• SAP Utilities Core for Germany
• SAP Utilities Core
• SAP Utilities Core, enhanced
While all three versions cover the meter-to-cash process, ‘SAP Utilities Core for Germany’ also covers
Germany-specific deregulated processes and an end-to-end market communication solution.
‘SAP Utilities Core’ is targeted to international customers. It includes both a framework to implement
country-specific deregulated processes and the Convergent Invoicing module within S/4HANA. (Remark:
This framework is the same as the one used for the Germany-specific market communication processes.)
‘SAP Utilities Core, enhanced’ targets regulated Utilities globally. It comprises SAP Service Cloud and SAP
Field Service Management but does not contain Convergent Invoicing.
SAP Utilities Core is a subscription service combining private and public cloud solutions. A mandatory
prerequisite for SAP Utilities Core is the subscription to the service RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private
edition. Its capabilities and its provisioning and operations concepts are the solid and rich foundation of
SAP Utilities Core. Please follow the links for more information on the service and the solution included in

In addition to the SAP Utilities Core bundles, we are also offering optional transformational services
including best practices and operational services along the end-to-end customer journey. These services
cover diverse areas such as solution discovery, implementation planning and execution, and operations.
The portfolio of transformational and operational services is constantly evolving along customer needs.

SAP Utilities Core combines public cloud and private cloud solutions in one offering. In this chapter, we

SAP S/4HANA Utilities
SAP S/4HANA Utilities comprises rich and mature functionality for the meter-to-cash process and adjacent
business functions such as regional structure, device management, energy data management, utilities-
specific maintenance and service processes, and core customer service functions.

Market process management for utilities for SAP S/4HANA is a solution that enables you to efficiently model,
execute, and monitor your business processes, including message handling for communication with other
systems (such as market partners).

SAP Cloud for Utilities Foundation
SAP Cloud for Utilities Foundation provides agile, quick, and secure integration through openness and
extensibility to enable industry-specific business processes. SAP Cloud for Utilities Foundation is a BTP-
based industry cloud solution, comprised of the Measurement Concept Management (MCM)
component. MCM is aiming to streamline and homogenize utilities-specific handling of technical and
business master data in the SAP Utilities Core solution and connected third party solutions. The solution
provides a consistent and coherent definition and view, from simple to complex measurement concepts.

SAP S/4HANA for Convergent Invoicing
SAP S/4HANA for convergent invoicing supports innovative business models by integrating billing and
