Chapter 3
METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the research design, the respondents of
the study, and the locale of the study, research instrument, validity
and reliability of the instrument, the data gathering procedure, data
analysis and statistical tools of this study.
Research Design
The study will utilize the descriptive method design that will
determine the classroom climate among kinder school in the district of
Buenavista II which will be a bases for care and support strategies in
area of support, cooperation, affiliation, and competitiveness for the
school year 2019-2020. A methodology designed to depict the
participants in an accurate way. More simply put, descriptive research
is all about describing people who take part in the study. According to
Dudovskiy (2019), descriptive research can be explained as a
statement of affairs as they are at present with the researcher having
no control over variable. Moreover, “descriptive studies may be
characterised as simply the attempt to determine, describe or identify
what is, while analytical research attempts to establish why it is that
way or how it came to be”.

Mann-Whitney U-test and Kruskall-Wallis H-test will be used to
determine the significant differences among variables.
Locale of the Study
This study will be conducted at the elementary schools in the
district of Buenavista II, Schools Division of Guimaras, province of
Guimaras, Philippines.
Respondents of the Study
The subjects of the study will be the internal stakeholders in the
public elementary schools in the province of Guimaras, Philippines.
They will be equated according to age, sex, civil status, length of
service and school size.
The sample size will be determined using purposive sampling in
determining the appropriate sample size from the different public
elementary schools.
Table 1 below shows the profile of the respondents when taken
as a whole and when classified according to age, sex, civil status,
length of service and school size.

profiling questionnaire for the demographic profile of the respondents
and a researcher made questionnaire in Likert Scales for the classroom
climate among kinder school in the district of Buenavista II which will
be a bases for care and support strategies in area of support,
cooperation, affiliation, and competitiveness for the SY 2019-2020. The
Likert Scales uses the “method of summated ratings. Statements of
opinions were presented to respondents who indicate agreement or
disagreement with the statements. Usually the respondents check in a
scale of 1 to 5 whether very high, high, neutral, low, and very low. The
Likert-type scale is regarded as the most useful in behavioral research
because it is easier to develop.
The research questionnaires will have six (6) main parts. Part I
will be on the profile of the respondents which will include the name of
the respondents (optional), age, sex, civil status, length of service, and
school size. Age will be categorized as young and old. Sex will be
categorized according to male and female. Civil status will be
categorized according to single, married, separated, and widow/er.
Length of service will be categorized according to long and short.
School size will be categorized according to small and big.
Part II will be the questionnaire on the classroom climate among

care and support strategies in area of competitiveness in the province
of Guimaras.
Part VI will be the questionnaire on the possible care and support
strategies that may be develop among kindergarten.
Validity of the Instrument

The questionnaire will be submitted to a panel of jurors for
content validation. The validators will be those who sat during the pre-
oral defense of the researcher.
The corrections and suggestions of the validators in the items of
the questionnaire will be considered in the preparation of the final draft
prior to reliability testing.
Reliability of the Instrument
The suggestions of the validators will be incorporated in the
questionnaire and will be tried-out among the 30 internal stakeholders
among elementary schools in the district of Buenavista I, Schools
Divison of Guimaras, province of Guimaras, Philippines.
Cronbach Alpha reliability technique will be used to determine
the internal consistency of the instrument.
According to Borro (2015) reliability refers to the consistency of
scores or answers from one administration of an instrument to another
and from one set of items to another. It also refers to the consistency
of scores given by the individuals to whom the instrument will be
administered.
Data Gathering Procedure
56
GUIMARAS STATE COLLEGE
GRADUATE SCHOOL
After obtaining the validity and reliability of the instrument, the
researcher will seek the approval from her adviser, Dean of the
Graduate School, District Supervisors, Schools Heads of the schools
and the Schools Division Superintendent through a letter for her to
field the instrument to the respondents. The researcher will personally
administer the questionnaire to the internal stakeholders and will wait
until the questionnaire will be finished.
The data will be gathered, tallied, tabulated, subjected to
quantitative analysis and interpreted.
Data Analysis Procedure
For the data analysis, the responses to the questionnaires will be
analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS)
version 17 for Windows. With the aid of the SPSS, the data collected
from the questionnaire will be tabulated and converted into frequency
and percentages to describe the demographic profiles. A further
analysis will be conducted by using descriptive analysis to examine
mean and standard deviation scores for classroom climate among
kinder school in the district of Buenavista II which will be a bases for

care and support strategies in area of support, cooperation, affiliation,
and competitiveness for the school year 2019-2020.
Statistical Tools
The data gathered in this study will be subjected to computer
processed statistical tools.
Frequency Count. This tool will be used to get the frequencies
of the responses of the respondents on their profile.
Mean. This will be used to get the sum of all items in the
questionnaire divided by the total number of items. The obtained
mean scores will be used to describe the classroom climate among
kinder school in the district of Buenavista II which will be a bases for
care and support strategies in area of support, cooperation, affiliation,
and competitiveness for the school year 2019-2020. The inferential
statistics used will be the t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to
determine the significance of the differences on the classroom climate
among kinder school in the district of Buenavista II which will be a
bases for care and support strategies in area of support, cooperation,
affiliation, and competitiveness for the school year 2019-2020.

Mann Whitney U-Test. This will rank the sum of test of two
populations when two random samples could have come from the
populations with the same mean.
In this study, Mann Whitney U-Test will be used to find out the
differences in the classroom climate among kinder school in the district
of Buenavista II which will be a bases for care and support strategies in
area of support, cooperation, affiliation, and competitiveness for the
school year 2019-2020 when classified according to age, sex, length of
service, and school size.
Kruskal-Wallis Test. The Kruskal-Wallis test is a nonparametric
(distribution free) test, and is used when the assumptions of one-way
ANOVA are not met. It can be used for both continuous and ordinal-
level dependent variables (https://www.statisticssolutions.com/kruskal-
wallis-test/, 2019).
In this study, Mann Whitney U-Test will be used to find out the
differences in the classroom climate among kinder school in the district
of Buenavista II which will be a bases for care and support strategies in
area of support, cooperation, affiliation, and competitiveness for the
school year 2019-2020 when classified according to civil status.
