Internship Description:
The industrial robots, conveyers, and plc programming are the foundation of
this internship. The internship lasts for 15 days, from June 13 to June 29, 2023. They
shared ideas regarding the selection of industrial robots depending on the application
and client need during this intern. They explained how conveyers function and why
they are necessary. They taught me about the design software the business uses to
create specialized robots. They provided the fundamental understanding required to
build the ladder logic for the plc programming. Every intern's day begins with a
session of problem-solving and question-asking, and it concludes with a session of
question- answering and doubt clarification.
Details of work and responsibility:
At POETs automation, I completed a 15-day internship training program. I've been
receiving hands-on instruction for over 15 days regarding industrial robotics, the
fundamentals of conveyers, using Solid Works, and plc programming. I have gained
knowledge about circuit wiring, driver modules, applications for special purpose
motors, and DC and AC motors during this training time. I had the chance to speak
with business leaders and observe business operations.

F.33
GENN Automation:
During the internship, I have taken to the Genn automation company. The best
authorized system house for SIEMENS drives (VFDs), PLCs, SMPS, servo motor &
servo system, etc. is GENN Automation Company. Electrical panels and Soft Sorter
panels for ELGI compressors, with power ratings ranging from 5 to 400 HP, are built
by authorized panel builders for ELGI equipment. There, I observed the many
SIEMENS plc pieces and their assembly at various sections. More than 1000 people
are employed at Genn Automation in various sections.
Solid Works:
The software used to build complicated machine designs in either a 3D or 2D
view is called Solid Works. It is software similar to AutoCAD, but the 3D makes it
simpler to use and view. During my internship, I studied the fundamental designs of
the TIG and MIG welding SPM automation machine base parts and gained knowledge
of the Solid Works program. Even 3D animations of the Designs can be created,
enabling precise demonstrations of brand-new features and goods. It is crucial in the
development of the customized special-purpose robot.
F.33
Conveyor:
A conveyor is a tool used to move loads or materials from one location to
another. The law says that the greatest weight an employer may lift while doing their
duties is 25 kg , hence conveyers were created to handle loads more than that. I gained
knowledge of how to design and build a conveyer system during my internship, as
well as how to wire the system. I used to work for a conveyer that was made for the
pharmaceutical business and used to move packaged medications.
Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
A digital computer called a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is utilized in
industries to automate a variety of electro-mechanical operations. The system
continuously runs the program that was created in the PLC. I have gained knowledge
about Mitsubishi Model Plc (MELSEC iQ-F) during my internship. This module
includes a built-in CPU module, I/O module, high speed counting module, and
Motion/Position control module. The security function has been improved, and battery
usage is quite low. It can be expanded by up to four extension adapters. Additionally,
a USB port, Ethernet port, and SD card slot are present.
F.33
TIG and MIG welding SPM automation machine:
MIG (metal inert gas) welding employs a feed wire that continuously travels
through the gun to create the spark, which melts to make the weld, in the TIG and
MIG welding SPM automation machines. It employs an automated or semi-automatic
arc. Long rods are used in TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding to fusing two metals
together. During my internship, I gained knowledge about the welding machine's
construction and operation. The specialized welding machine was
assembled by me.
Servo motor, Stepper motors :
Servo motors are electronic devices and rotary or linear actuators that rotate
and push parts of a machine with precision. Servos are mainly used on angular or
linear position and for specific velocity, and acceleration A stepper motor is a
brushless, synchronous electric motor that converts digital pulses into mechanical
shaft rotation. I have gained knowledge about how these motors and drives operate
and the various industries in which they are employed throughout my intern.
Servo Motor Drives:
A servo drive is used to power electric servomechanisms by receiving a
command signal from a PLC, amplifying it, and transmitting the electric current to a
servo motor. It allows for producing motion that is proportional to the command
signal. A servo drive monitors the mechanism's feedback signal. In this internship
period, I have learned about the AC Servo drive, which is the advanced one-touch
tuning drive. This drive is fast and accurate; its speed is 20 kHz. Its operating
F.33
temperature is 0 to 58°C, and its weight is 1.5 kg.
F.33
Circuit Panel:
During the internship, I have learned about the circuit panel and its operation.
The circuit panel comprises various components like the current transformer, MCB,
SMPS, RCCB, switches, displays, wiring, and indicators. The role of the current
transformer is to sense and measure the current flowing through the conductor. The
purpose of the MCB (miniature circuit breaker) is to trip during an overload or short
circuit. The purpose of the SMPS (switched mode power supply) is to convert ac to
dc. The role of the RCCB (residual current circuit breaker) is to trip when electrical
leakage is detected.
Industrial robots:
An industrial robot is a robot system used for manufacturing. Industrial robots
are automated, programmable, and capable of movement on three or more axes. An
industrial robot is one that has been developed to automate intensive production tasks,
such as those required by a constantly moving assembly line. In this internship, I have
learned about the six-axis robot, which is mostly used in modern robot systems. Based
on parameters like axes, robot reach, and payload, the robots are selected and
designed. Axes are defined as the directions in which the robotic arms move. I have
learned about the six-axis robot (x, -x, y, -y, z, -z).Robot reach is defined as how long
the robot stretches from its initial position. Payload is defined °as the amount of
weight the robot can lift at a time. The reach of the robot is inversely proportional to
the payload; if the load increases, the reach of the robot decreases. I have learned
about the datasheet of the industrial robot FANUC-ARC MATE 100 iD. This robot is
used for automatic welding. Its revolution is 0 to 170 and 0 to -170.
F.33
Description of the skills and the experience:
In the internship period, I have learned about the new software called Solid
Works. This software enhances the designer's skills. During the internship period, I
have uplifted my skills in the field of automation and control of different sensors,
motors, and motor drives. I have learned about industrial robots.
Outcome:
I can read and understand the different parameters of the robotic datasheet.
I can create the design using the Solid Works software.
I can analyze the different circuit panels.
I am able to design and work in the conveyer model.
Acknowledgement:
I have learned about conveyers, machine design software, sensors, motors, and
circuit panels during my internship term. I've gained experience from working with
people in the industry. I have learned information about industrial robots and their
datasheet from this intern.
