Q.1) Suppose that sweets are sold in packages of fixed weight of the contents. The producer
of the packages is interested in testing that average weight of contents in packages is 1
kg. Hence a random sample of 12 packages is drawn and their contents found (in kg) as
follows: 1.05, 1.01, 1.04, 0.98, 0.96, 1.01, 0.97, 0.99, 0.98, 0.95, 0.97, 0.95.
Using the above data what should he conclude about the average weight of contents in
the packets? [Use 5% level of significance]
Q.2) A sample of 20 women enrolled in a health program shows mean diastolic blood pressure
99 and sample standard deviation 32. Can you conclude that women enrolled in the
program have diastolic blood pressure greater than 75 recommended by doctors?
[Take alpha = 0.05]
Q.3) The following data relate to the weights of 10 persons (randomly selected) before joining
a health club and after 6 months from joining it. Test whether there is a significant change
in the weights after 6 months from joining the club. (Use 1% level of significance.)

Q.4) The hours of sleep for 10 patients before and after giving a new drug are recorded. Test
whether there is a significant difference in the average hours of sleep at a 5% l.o.s.

Q.5) The ability of brakes of two new types of cars was tested by driving the cars at the speed
of 60 miles per hour and then applying the brakes. The distances (in feet) required to stop
the cars were noted. The results were as follows:
