Objective:
• Assess students' understanding of the core management functions: Planning, Organizing/Staffing,
Leading/Directing, and Controlling.
• Evaluate students' ability to apply these concepts to a real-world scenario.
Description:
Students will be given a case study of a company facing management challenges. The case will provide background
information on the company, the problem at hand, and key organizational details. Students are required to analyze
the situation and answer a series of questions that focus on how the company can apply the basic management
functions to address the issues.
Case Study Format:
1. Company Overview (description of the organization, its goals, and industry)
2. Problem/Challenge (e.g., declining employee engagement, poor financial performance, etc.)
3. Organizational Context (brief details of company structure, culture, leadership)
Student Task:
Students will respond to the following questions:
1. Planning: Based on the situation presented in the case study, how should the company approach its
planning process to address the challenges? What type of planning (strategic, tactical, or operational) is most
appropriate?
2. Organizing: What organizational changes or structural adjustments would you suggest to optimize the
company’s efficiency and productivity?
3. Staffing: How would you approach the staffing challenges identified in the case? What steps should be
taken in terms of recruitment, selection, and training?
4. Leading: What leadership and motivational strategies would be effective in addressing employee morale or
performance issues?
5. Controlling: How would you implement control systems to monitor the success of the interventions and
ensure continuous improvement?
