Square Knot
To start put the piece of yarn, that you are using to make the knot, behind the yarn that you
want to tie together (see images below).
So you can clearly see how to make a square knot for the following images have used two
pieces of yarn in different colours, but for these patterns you will need only one piece of
yarn like in the images above.
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3
Step 4 Step 5 Step 6
Repeat Steps 1 to 6 until you have reached the desired length. When you hae finished cut
off the left over yarn.
Optional: You can put clear nail polish over the cut ends so that they don’t come undone.

Pattern Notes
• There are no tensions on any of these patterns, as the size of the bracelets on all 5
patterns can be adjusted by changing the number of chains that you start with. (See
each pattern for more details.)
• The hook sizes and yarn weight given are just suggestions as these patterns will work with
any yarn weight.
• When crocheting with the pony beads you will need to make sure that the hook you are
using is small enough to be inserted into the hole of the bead.

Pattern Notes
• I used 3 beads (1 per strand), but you could use as many as you like.
• Where the pattern says ch(A) this means that you decide how many chains you do
depending on how long you would like the bracelet to be. This number needs to be the
same throughout the pattern for example if you start with 50 chains then every time you
see ch(A) you must do 50 chains.
Pattern
Start by putting 3 (or more)
beads onto the yarn, cast
on and leave a long tail.
Row 1: Ch(A), put a stitch
marker onto the first chain
(this will ensure the bead
does not fall off of the chain.
Remove the hook. While
making sure your chains
don’t unravel carefully
slide the first bead onto the
chains.
Tip: put your hook through the bead and hook your last chain pull it through. (See images)
Row 2: Ch 1 (put a stitch marker in this chain as you will need to know where this ch is at the
end of row 3), ch(A).
Remove the hook and slide the next bead onto the chains. Sl st into the first ch on row 1 (be
careful to not twist the chains), turn.

Row 3: Ch(A), remove the hook and slide the final bead onto the chains. Sl st into the ch on
row 2 with the stitch marker.
Fasten off and leave a long tail (about the same length as the tail at the start of the bracelet).
Finishing
There are two ways to fasten this bracelet you can either leave it as it is and just tie the end
together or make adjustable closure.
Adjustable closure:
Tie a knot at the end of each tail
• Put the two tails together (see image below)
• With a long piece of yarn join the tails together with 5 square knots (see special stitches)
• Cut off the ends. (To ensure the knots don’t come undone you can cover the knots in
clear nail polish.)
