NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

Experiences have shown that the sensors for monitoring the landing gear and the aft cargo door
give indications that do not agree with each other. This behavior is caused by an Electro Magnetic
Interference (EMI) effect across the sensor cables.

This Service Bulletin gives the necessary instructions to remove and install a new shielded cable from:

- Connector 241VC to connector 1943VC to prevent the EMI effect on sensors 32WV and 34WV.

- Connector 248VC-A to connector 1994VC to prevent the EMI effect on sensor 35GA.

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will increase the operational reliability of the related
sensors.

(1) History

Experiences have shown that the sensors for monitoring the landing gear and the aft
cargo door give indications that do not agree with each other. This behavior is caused
by an Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) effect across the sensor cables.

(2) Objective/Action

This Service Bulletin gives the necessary instructions to remove and install a new
shielded cable from:

- Connector 241VC to connector 1943VC to prevent the EMI effect on sensors 32WV
and 34WV.

- Connector 248VC-A to connector 1994VC to prevent the EMI effect on sensor

35GA.

(3) Advantages

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will increase the operational reliability of the
related sensors.

G. MANPOWER

The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also not
included.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Task 211208-831-848-001 - Modification

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE WARNINGS AND ALL THE CAUTIONS
INCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED PROCEDURES.

CAUTION: ALWAYS OBEY THE PRECAUTIONS THAT FOLLOW TO KEEP

ELECTRICAL WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY
AND MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE). WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE
WORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS, ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING,
COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO
THIS:

- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC; AS

NECESSARY ON WIRING AND COMPONENTS.

- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND

OTHER CONTAMINATION.

THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION

AND DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.

IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION REFER TO ESPM 20-55-00.

(d) Tag the parts you must remove and retain to make the subsequent installation
easier.

(e) Put all the retained hardware in identified plastic bags and attach the bags to the
related unit.

(f) To torque tighten the electrical component fasteners (Refer to AMM Task
20-21-15-912-001).

(g) To torque tighten the standard threaded fasteners (Refer to AMM Task
20-21-11-911-001).

(h) For the removal and installation of fasteners (Refer to SRM 51-42-00).

(i) For fasteners spacing and margin (Refer to ESPM 51-47-00).

(j) For alternative and substitute fasteners (Refer to SRM 51-43-00).

(k) For fastener hole diameters and drill and deburr data (Refer to SRM 51-44-00).

(l) Do the electrical bonding (Refer to ESPM 20-51-20 and AMM Task
20-28-00-912-004 or AMM Task 20-28-00-912-043).

(m) Obey the instructions for the general installation of electrical wire harnesses (Refer
to ESPM 20-33-00).

(n) Make sure that the electrical connectors are serviceable before you connect them
again.

(o) Put blanking plugs on the disconnected line ends.

(p) Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.

(q) To install new wires, cut them to the necessary length, crimp the terminal and
connect them.

(r) Route the new wires with the wires that are in the aircraft.

(s) Use existing spare conduits to route wires in locations with difficult access.

(t) Do a continuity test of the new and modified wires (Refer to ESPM 20-52-21).

(u) For the cable tie application and tooling (Refer to ESPM 20-33-44 and ESPM
20-25-51).

(v) For the installation of placards (Refer to AMM 11-00-00, Page Block 201).

(d) Open the FWD Passenger/Crew door 831 or 841 (Refer to AMM Task
52-10-00-010-001).

(e) Open the Avionics Compartment doors 811, 812, 822 and 824 (Refer to AMM Task
52-41-00-010-002).

(f) Remove all the ceiling panels in the FWD cargo compartment (Refer to AMM Task
25-54-12-000-002).

(g) Remove the partition panels 131BW, 131AW and 132BW in the FWD cargo
compartment (Refer to AMM Task 25-54-11-000-001 and AMM 06-41-53, Page
Block 001).

(h) Remove all the necessary partition panels (Refer to AMM Task 25-54-12-000-001).

(i) If installed, remove from the modified plate the connectors No. 1939VC, 1941VC,
1943VC, 1945VC, 1947VC, 1949VC, 1951VC, 1953VC, 1955VC, 1957VC, 1959VC,
1961VC, 1963VC, 1965VC, 1967VC, 1969VC, 1971VC, 1973VC, 1975VC, 1977VC,
1979VC, 1981VC, 1983VC, 1985VC, 1987VC, 1989VC, 1991VC, 1997VC and
1999VC without disconnection.

(j) Make sure that the external connector(s) is (are) not connected to the aircraft
receptacle(s) EXT PW.

(k) Make sure that there is (are) warning notice(s) on external power receptacle to tell
persons not to connect an external power source.

(l) Make sure that the EMER EXIT LT pushbutton switch on 25VU is on OFF position.

(m) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 35VU release BAT pushbutton switches.

(n) Put a warning notice on panel 35VU to tell persons not to operate the batteries.

(o) Put a warning notice on refuel/defuel panel 800VU to tell persons not to operate the
NORMAL BATTERY switch.

(p) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.

(q) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the ENG1,2.

(r) Battery disconnection:

- For Job Set-up, refer to the removal of the Batteries (Refer to AMM Task
24-38-51-000-001).

- Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.

- Disconnect the connectors.

- Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.

1 Remove and retain the cabin pressure controller (FIN 11HL) (if installed)
(Refer to AMM Task 21-31-34-000-001).

4 Remove and retain the multi-mode receiver (FIN 40RT1) (if installed) (Refer to
AMM Task 34-36-31-000-001).

5 Remove and retain the instrument landing system receiver (FIN 2RT1) (if
installed) (Refer to AMM Task 34-36-31-000-001).

6 Remove and retain the bleed monitoring computer (FIN 1HA1) (if installed)
(Refer to AMM Task 36-11-34-000-001).

7 Remove and retain the pack controller (FIN 7HH) (if installed) (Refer to AMM
Task 21-61-34-000-001).

8 Disconnect the shelf cut-off connectors and install protective caps.

9 Disconnect the bonding strap and remove the shelf from the aircraft.

NOTE: Retain the hardware.

(b) Remove the shelf 96VU:

(e) Open the Avionics Compartment doors 811, 812, 822 and 824 (Refer to AMM Task

(f) Remove all the ceiling panels in the FWD cargo compartment (Refer to AMM Task

(g) Remove the partition panels 131BW, 131AW and 132BW in the FWD cargo
compartment (Refer to AMM Task 25-54-11-000-001 and AMM 06-41-53, Page
Block 001).

(h) Remove all the necessary partition panels (Refer to AMM Task 25-54-12-000-001).

(i) If installed, remove from the modified plate the connectors No. 1939VC, 1941VC,
1943VC, 1945VC, 1947VC, 1949VC, 1951VC, 1953VC, 1955VC, 1957VC, 1959VC,
1961VC, 1963VC, 1965VC, 1967VC, 1969VC, 1971VC, 1973VC, 1975VC, 1977VC,
1979VC, 1981VC, 1983VC, 1985VC, 1987VC, 1989VC, 1991VC, 1997VC and
1999VC without disconnection.

(j) Make sure that the external connector(s) is (are) not connected to the aircraft
receptacle(s) EXT PW.

(k) Make sure that there is (are) warning notice(s) on external power receptacle to tell
persons not to connect an external power source.

(l) Make sure that the EMER EXIT LT pushbutton switch on 25VU is on OFF position.

(m) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel 35VU release BAT pushbutton switches.

(n) Put a warning notice on panel 35VU to tell persons not to operate the batteries.

(o) Put a warning notice on refuel/defuel panel 800VU to tell persons not to operate the
NORMAL BATTERY switch.

(p) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.

(q) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the ENG1,2.

(r) Battery disconnection:

- For Job Set-up, refer to the removal of the Batteries (Refer to AMM Task
24-38-51-000-001).

- Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.

- Disconnect the connectors.

- Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.

1 In the structure of the FWD Electronics Rack 90VU, drill the 2 holes to a
diameter of 5.2 mm (0.2047 in.).

2 Remove the surface protection at the location of the shielding wire, in a

diameter of 14 mm (0.55 in.).

NOTE: This test procedure is to be accomplished after the installation of the

equipment removed for access (Refer to SUBTASK 211208-410-001 001
Install Items Removed for access ).

(a) Battery re-connection:

- For Job Set-up, refer to the installation of the Batteries (Refer to AMM Task
24-38-51-400-001).

- Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connectors.

- Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in correct condition.

- Connect the connector on the battery.

- Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.

(b) Remove all warning notices.

(c) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Refer to AMM Task 24-41-00-861-002).

(d) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-720-005).

NOTE: For the Maximum Permitted Resistance Values, refer to the table
(Refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-869-002).

(e) Preliminary Tests:

NOTE: If the aircraft is operated in CAT 3 conditions, you must also

do the Land CAT 3 Capability Test (Refer to AMM Task
22-97-00-710-001).

a Do the operational test of the Instrument and Panel Integral Lighting

(Refer to AMM Task 33-13-00-710-001).

b Do the operational test of the Lights (Refer to AMM Task

33-14-00-710-001).

c Do the operational check of the Avionics Equipment Ventilation-System

via Maintenance Central Display Unit (MCDU) (Refer to AMM Task
21-26-00-710-001).

d Do the operational test of the Auto Flight System (AFS) (Refer to AMM
Task 22-96-00-710-001).

e Do the operational test of the Electronic Instrument System (EIS) (Refer

to AMM Task 31-60-00-710-001).

f Do the operational test of the Electronic Centralized Aircraft Monitoring

(ECAM) Control Panel (Refer to AMM Task 31-50-00-710-004).

g Do the Ground Scanning of the Central Warning System (Refer to AMM

1 Do the test procedure as specified after the installation (if installed) of

the Cabin Pressure Controller (FIN 11HL and 12HL) (Refer to AMM Task

2 Do the test procedure as specified after the installation (if installed) of the aft
Cargo Heat Controller (FIN 10HC) (Refer to AMM Task 21-43-34-400-002).

3 Do the test procedure as specified after the installation (if installed) of the Air-
Conditioning System Controller (FIN 47HH and 57HH) (Refer to AMM Task
21-61-34-400-002).

4 Do the test procedure as specified after the installation (if installed) of the
Electrical Generation Interface Unit (EGIU)-1(2) (FIN 22XU1 and 22XU2)

Install Items Removed for access ).

(a) Battery re-connection:

- For Job Set-up, refer to the installation of the Batteries (Refer to AMM Task
24-38-51-400-001).

- Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connectors.

- Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in correct condition.

- Connect the connector on the battery.

- Turn the knurled nut a quarter turn.

(b) Remove all warning notices.

(c) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Refer to AMM Task 24-41-00-861-002).

(d) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-720-005).

NOTE: For the Maximum Permitted Resistance Values, refer to the table
(Refer to AMM Task 20-28-00-869-002).

(e) Preliminary Tests:

NOTE: If the aircraft is operated in CAT 3 conditions, you must also

do the Land CAT 3 Capability Test (Refer to AMM Task
22-97-00-710-001).

1 On each connector which was disconnected:

- Do the checks as defined by ESPM 20-52-10.

NOTE: The functional test and/or operational test requested by this

ESPM procedure is given hereafter.

a Do the operational test of the Instrument and Panel Integral Lighting

(Refer to AMM Task 33-13-00-710-001).

b Do the operational test of the Lights (Refer to AMM Task

33-14-00-710-001).

c Do the operational check of the Avionics Equipment Ventilation-System

via Maintenance Central Display Unit (MCDU) (Refer to AMM Task
21-26-00-710-001).

d Do the operational test of the Auto Flight System (AFS) (Refer to AMM
Task 22-96-00-710-001).

e Do the operational test of the Electronic Instrument System (EIS) (Refer

to AMM Task 31-60-00-710-001).
