Application for a

system ID number

This application for a system ID number is only for the following:


• Citizens of EEA/EFTA countries who are employed in Iceland and stay for maximum of six months. Those
who are staying longer than six months contact the offices of Registers Iceland.
Other citizens contact the Directorate of Immigration.
• Spouses of Icelandic and EEA/EFTA citizens who are employed in Iceland but are awaiting
the decision on a residence permit application at the Directorate of Immigration.
• Non-residents with taxable capital income in Iceland. The applicant is not required to sign the form, but a
copy of passport or travel document must be attached.
A system ID number does not grant the applicant any rights in Iceland nor does it not confirm the right
to residency in the country.
