Motive Power Requirements – 40
BPM Mineral Water Plant
Motive power refers to the total electrical energy required to operate all the
mechanical and electrical equipment in the packaged drinking water plant. It
includes pumps, motors, compressors, heating units, and machinery used
throughout the purification and bottling process.

🔹 B. Sanctioned Load Requirement
To safely operate the plant and allow some margin for future expansion:
Recommended Sanctioned Load: 30–35 kW
Electricity Supply Type: 3-Phase, 415V AC
You must apply for this load with the State Electricity Board or Local DISCOM (e.g.,
UPCL in Uttarakhand).
🔹 C. DG Set Backup (Optional but Recommended)
Capacity
40–45 kVA (sufficient for full load)
Needed
Use Backup during power cuts
Type CPCB Phase-II compliant (silent type)
Fuel Diesel, 2.5–3 liters/hour at full load
🔹 D. Power Saving Technologies (Integrated with
Motive Power)
VFD Drives on pumps and blowers to reduce peak load
IE2 / IE3 Motors for better efficiency
Proper Cable Sizing to reduce energy loss
Auto-Power Factor Panels (APFC) to maintain power factor >0.95 and reduce
penalties
✅ Summary
The plant will operate with a connected load of
approx. 30 kW, and require a 3-phase commercial
supply. Backup via DG Set (40–45 kVA) is advisable
for continuous operation. With energy-efficient
equipment and scheduled operation, monthly power
bills can be optimized.
