Part I.

High-Level Network Design

1. Topology for Each Department

Floor 5: Executives and Corporate Services Department

Tree Topology

The tree topology is a hierarchical setup, each computer connects to a main switch,
which then connects to a central router. This structure helps manage lots of computers
and is good for big departments with different teams.

Floor 4: Administration Department

Star Topology

All computers connect to a central switch. If one computer has a problem, the rest still
work fine. It’s easy to set up and fix issues, perfect for an administration department
that needs reliability.

Floor 3: Accounting Department

Star Topology

Each computer connects to a main switch, ensuring smooth and secure communication,
which is important for handling financial data

Floor 2: Human Resource Department

Bus Topology

All computers are connected to a line using one main cable. This is a simple and cheap
option for smaller departments.

Floor 1: IT and MIS Department

Tree Topology

Like the Executives Department but tailored for IT needs. It helps manage various IT
services and ensures good network performance.

2. Topology of Nodes/Routers as an Organization

Hybrid Topology

We used hybrid topology as each department’s switch as we used tree, star and bus for
different department, which is connected into a switch each floor. This setup helps manage and
connect different departments smoothly and ensures that the whole company’s network works
well together.
