STANDARD TEST METHOD FOR SLUMP OF HYDRAULIC-CEMENT CONCRETE –
ASTM C143/C143M – 15
           Laboratory No. 5, April 29, 2024, CVE171 – Construction Materials and Testing,
Civil Engineering Department, Mindanao State University – Main Campus
Abstract – This laboratory experiment investigated the slump of hydraulic cement concrete according
to ASTM C143/C143M. The experiment involved measuring the vertical displacement of a concrete
sample after a mold is lifted, indicating its workability. This test offers a quick and easy way to
determine how easily new concrete can be finished, compacted, and, and placed. The results, which
are expressed as slump value, may point to possible problems such as trouble managing or separating
coarse aggregate. It is also crucial to remember that slump and concrete strength can be complex,
particularly in field condition.

ingredient. Then we mixed the ingredients in a
container, after mixing it was put on a slump

V. CONCLUSION
The investigation of the collapse of
the hydraulic cement concrete based on ASTM
C143/C143M standards has helped to
illuminate the castability and the behavior of
the concrete.
        a. The concrete slump value of the
15kg concrete mixture is 6inches, therefore the
result shows that the concrete has a high
workability and a high value of fluidity which
makes the concrete easier to work with, failure
to attain a more convenient result and to Figure 4 Pouring into mold
increase the workability of the cement while
maintaining the water-cement ratio proportion,
using of admixture is permitted to keep the
strength of specimen.
        b. The obtained 6 inches slump value
indicates more fluid and more workable
concrete mixture.
