Course Outline
Course Code/Name ECE 543E, Radio Frequency Circuit Design
Semester/Year Sem I, Year 5
Units 3
Pre-Requisites ECE 442 Radio Communication Systems
Aims/Objectives/Purpose • To provide learner with RF circuit fundamentals in passive
components and various circuit building blocks in a typical RF transceiver.
• To understand the fundamental concepts of RF circuit behavior and
analyzing and designing of tuning and matching networks, filter networks, RF
amplifiers, power amplifiers, two port networks, mixers, power amplifiers and
RF oscillators.
• To learn to use appropriate CAD tools such in the design of RF circuits.
Learning outcomes At the end of the course the student should be able to:
• Explain the behaviour of passive and active electronic components
and devices at RF and apply appropriate circuit models at RF.
• Analyse and design RF circuits using appropriate subsystems.
• Use at least one software tool to simulate, analyze, and design simple
RF systems.
