INTERVIEW
Hi, my name is Sumit. I recently completed my 12th grade with 83.4%, and
alongside that, I prepared for the JEE and scored a 96.7 percentile.
I've always been curious about how technology works. During school, I started
exploring basic coding and solving logic-based problems, which sparked my
interest in programming.
Currently, I’m focused on sharpening my problem-solving skills through
platforms like Scaler Academy and NSET preparation. I really enjoy learning
through real-world examples, especially in topics like logic, mathematics, and
puzzles.
I’m excited about joining Scaler School of Technology because I strongly believe
in learning by doing. The mentorship model, live classes, and tech-first
ecosystem align perfectly with my goals. I want to build meaningful tech
products in the future, and I believe SST is the right place to begin that journey.
Q: What are your strengths and weaknesses?
A:
One of my main strengths is that I’m a quick learner. I understand new concepts
fast and like applying them, especially in subjects like coding and maths. If I
learn something new, I try to use it in a problem or a small task — that helps me
remember it better.
I’m also disciplined and focused. While preparing for both my board exams and
JEE, I learned how to manage my time and stay consistent every day. That routine
has really helped me stay on track with my goals.
As for a weakness, sometimes I overthink, especially in topics I’m not confident
in — like Permutations & Combinations or Probability. This makes me doubt
myself. But I’ve been working on it by staying calm and reminding myself to break
the problem into small steps. I’m learning to trust my process more.
I believe with the right support and environment, like Scaler offers, I’ll keep
improving and turn even my weaknesses into strengths.
Q: Why do you want to join Scaler School of Technology?
A:
I want to join Scaler because I believe it focuses on real learning. I’ve seen that
Scaler offers live classes, 1-on-1 mentorship, and project-based learning —
which is very different from traditional colleges.
I’m someone who enjoys learning by doing, and I think Scaler’s environment is
perfect for that. The way it connects students with real industry experts and
focuses on building strong coding and problem-solving skills really excites me.
Also, I like that Scaler doesn’t just teach you theory but helps you build real-
world products and prepares you for the tech industry from the beginning.
That’s why I feel Scaler is the best place for me to grow as a developer and
work toward my goals.
Q: What type of project have you built, or what would you like to build in your
career?
A:
Right now, I haven’t built a full project yet, but I’m very excited to start. I’ve
explored coding concepts and logic-based problems, and I often imagine how
apps or websites are built behind the scenes.
One type of project I’d love to build is a simple app that solves real problems —
like a study planner for students or a budget tracker for families. Something
useful, simple, and meaningful.
As I learn more about coding and development at Scaler, I want to turn these
ideas into real projects. I’m excited to build apps that are clean, helpful, and
maybe even something others can use one day.
Q: How do you approach solving a new or difficult problem?
A:
When I face a new or difficult problem, I try to stay calm and break it down into
smaller parts. I first understand what’s being asked, then list what I know and
what I need to figure out.
If it’s a logic or math problem, I usually draw things out or test small examples to
see patterns. If I still don’t get it, I take a short break and come back to it with a
fresh mind — or look at similar problems to get ideas.
I don’t give up quickly — I try to learn from what went wrong. I believe every tough
problem helps me grow, even if I don’t solve it on the first try.
Q: What are your dreams and aspirations?
A:
My dream is to become a skilled software developer who can build things that
make people’s lives easier. I’m especially interested in solving real-world
problems using technology — like apps for education, productivity, or even
health.
In the long term, I want to work with a team where I can learn, grow, and
maybe one day lead a tech project or startup of my own. I know I have a lot to learn,
but I’m excited to start that journey step by step.
That’s why I want to be at a place like Scaler — where I’ll not only gain strong
technical skills but also learn how to think like a builder and grow into a
professional who can turn ideas into working products.
Q: Why did you choose to pursue a career in Computer Science?
A:
I chose Computer Science because I’ve always been curious about how things work
behind the scenes — especially in technology. During school, I started exploring basic
coding and logic problems, and I really enjoyed how it made me think differently.
While preparing for JEE and managing my board exams, I realised that I enjoy
solving complex problems step by step. That’s when I knew I wanted to build a career in
something that challenges me mentally and also allows me to create useful things — and
CSE felt like the right fit.
Now, I want to go deeper — learn how to build real tech products, solve real-world
problems, and grow in a strong environment like Scaler. That’s why I’m excited to pursue
CSE and start this journey seriously.
Q: Where do you see yourself in the future?
A:
In the future, I see myself working as a software engineer, contributing to meaningful and
scalable tech solutions. I aim to grow in both technical depth and real-world experience
by working on impactful projects — ideally in areas like education, productivity, or social
good.
Eventually, I’d like to take on leadership roles, where I can guide teams and be part
of building innovative products from scratch. I’m also open to the idea of starting my own
venture someday if I come across a problem worth solving. Right now, my goal is to build
a solid foundation in software development and problem-solving, and I believe Scaler will
help me begin that journey the right way.
Q: What excites you the most about technology or your learning journey?
A:
What excites me the most is the ability to solve real-world problems through code. The
process of turning an idea into a working product — even a small one — feels incredibly
rewarding. I enjoy breaking down complex problems, thinking logically, and improving
through trial and error.
I also find motivation in learning something new every day. The tech field evolves
constantly, and that challenge excites me. Whether it’s a new concept, a bug to fix, or a
logic puzzle — it pushes me to grow, and I genuinely enjoy that.
