A notice is a formal means of communication used to announce something to a group of people. It is
usually written or printed information displayed in public to convey official messages, alerts, or
announcements.

 Change in schedule or rules

📢 Purpose of Notice Writing


1. To inform a group of people about a particular event or development.
2. To provide clear, concise, and essential information.
3. To make formal announcements to a community (e.g., school, office, housing society).
4. To reach a large audience through a single document.

📢 Format of a Notice
A well-written notice follows a fixed format, usually as prescribed by school boards like CBSE or
ICSE.

1. Name of Issuing Authority


o At the top (e.g., St. Xavier’s School, Delhi or Residents’ Welfare Association, Sector
8).
2. The Word "NOTICE"
o Must be written in capital letters.
o Centered and bolded for clarity.
3. Date
o The date on which the notice is being issued.
o Format: DD/MM/YYYY or Month DD, YYYY
4. Title/Heading
o Should be catchy and related to the content (e.g., Inter-School Debate
Competition, Cleanliness Drive, Tree Plantation Program).
5. Body of the Notice
o Should include:
 What (event/activity)
 When (date and time)
 Where (venue/location)
 Who (for whom)
 Whom to contact
o Keep it short (usually 50 words as per CBSE norms).
o Use simple and formal language.
6. Signature, Name, and Designation
o At the end, the name and designation of the person issuing the notice.
