Advisory for 4/24: Sen. Liz Krueger, CUNY Graduate Center to Host Forum, Discuss Political Attacks on Womens Rights
New York Presidential candidates are speaking out in opposition not just to abortion rights, but even to basic contraception. Legislators around the country are working to put more barriers between women and their reproductive rights. Gov. Scott Walker and state legislators in Wisconsin just pushed through a repeal of that states Equal Pay Enforcement Act. Congress just allowed the federal Violence Against Women Act to lapse. At this forum, the public can hear from prominent advocates, academics, and thought leaders on how the national phenomenon increasingly described as a War on Women came into being, and what citizens can do to fight back, stem this regressive tide, and protect the gains our society has made on the long march to equality.
