AI Integration
Assignment
Ethical AI use in research.
Objectives
This assignment aims to:
Reinforce your understanding of ethical AI use in education.
Provide practical experience using AI tools responsibly.
Develop your critical thinking skills when evaluating AI-generated content.
Enhance your research, idea generation, or summarization abilities with AI assistance.
Assignment Overview
You will select one of the following tasks and use AI tools to complete it. Your submission should
include both the AI-generated output and a reflection explaining your process and ethical
considerations.
Choose one of the following tasks:
1. Research a Topic: Use AI to research a current event (e.g., climate change, artificial intelligence
in healthcare, social media's impact on society). Focus on identifying reliable and diverse
sources.
2. Generate Ideas: Use AI to brainstorm ideas for a school project that addresses a specific
community need (e.g., improving recycling, promoting mental health awareness, creating
educational resources). Explain how the AI assisted in the ideation process.
3. Create a Summary: Use AI to summarize a complex article or document related to a subject you
are studying (e.g., a scientific paper, a historical text, a literary analysis). The summary must
concisely recap the original text's key points.
Instructions
1. Select an AI Tool: Choose an AI tool appropriate for your chosen task (e.g., ChatGPT, Google
Bard, Perplexity AI, Consensus). Always adhere to your school's policies regarding AI tools.
2. Complete the Task: Use the AI tool to complete your chosen task. Keep a record of your
prompts and the AI's responses.
3. Evaluate the Output: Critically evaluate the AI-generated output. Check for accuracy, bias, and
completeness. Identify any areas where the AI's output needs improvement or correction.
4. Refine and Supplement: Refine the AI-generated content by adding your own knowledge,
insights, and perspectives. Supplement the AI's output with information from reliable sources.
5. Write a Reflection: Write a 250-300 word reflection addressing the following points:
What AI tool did you use and why?
What were the strengths and weaknesses of the AI's output?
How did you ensure the accuracy and reliability of the information?
What ethical considerations did you take into account (e.g., plagiarism, bias)?
How did you refine and supplement the AI's output to improve its quality?
6. Submit: Submit your AI-generated output (e.g., research notes, brainstormed ideas, summary)
along with your reflection.
