SCHEDULE
Daily Learning Rhythm
FOUR DAYS A WEEK
We included these daily rhythms for you to use as a guide for how to flow through your homeschooling days
using the LHL curriculum. Please view this as a loose plan for guiding your daily flow. Developing a routine in
your learning days can help both you and your child with structure. Children love knowing what to expect and
this gives them a sense of belonging and security.

I have designed two different daily rhythms for you to choose from. It's important to put the heavier subjects
(such as language and math) in a time when your child is alert and willing to engage in this learning. For some
children, this can be in the morning when they are rested and for some children it may be in the afternoon after
the child has released energy with outdoor play.

You do not have to do all the subjects listed in these daily rhythms everyday. You may only do one subject
listed in the morning and then rotate another subject in the next morning. I like to record what we learned for
the day at the end of the day. Our daily learning rhythm morphs and flows and that is fine. I hope this is a
starting point for you as you discover your own family's daily rhythm.

How to Use the Schedules
MONTHLY PLAN
The monthly plan is set up as a guide to help you navigate through a month of learning activities using the
UNIT STUDY. It is divided by day into topics for study and lesson introduction.

Mondays are for introducing the MAIN TOPIC of the UNIT STUDY for that week. Read the recommended
books and use the printables. Especially use the 3-part cards (evergreen lesson) to introduce new
vocabulary.
Tuesdays are for LIFE SKILLS learning. This just means we concentrate on learning something new for the
first time for life skills on Tuesdays. Then these works can be left on the shelf to be enjoyed by the child any
time of the week.
Wednesdays are for hands-on PROJECTS.
Thursdays are for hands-on SENSES (using the 5 senses) learning, that incorporate the artist of the month,
art picture study (evergreen lesson), Art Journal, coloring work, hands-on science experiments, the composer
for the month (found within the Art Journal), and more!
Fridays are for NATURE learning and are reserved as a CATCH UP day if needed. There is a Nature
Journal with activity prompts to do throughout the week if you want more outside time.

All of the above learning materials (hands-on printables, DIY materials, & Montessori materials) can be placed
on the shelf for use throughout the week. The suggested days are for introducing the topic for the first time and
giving a special lesson on the topic. Language and Math can be incorporated throughout the week.

There is a BLANK month for you to create your own plan.

*PLEASE NOTE: The monthly plan and the weekly plans are NOT the same.

WEEKLY PLANS - PART 1 & 2

The two weekly plans are organized differently than the one monthly plan. The first weekly plan is organized
into a list format for which printables you will use on each day of the week. The second weekly graphed
format puts the subjects for study into a box under each day of the week.

The graphed weekly format plans include:

UNIT STUDY (main theme for the day)
LIFE SKILLS (used throughout the week)
SENSES (projects, science, art & nature divided over 2-4 days per week)
LANGUAGE & MATH - Add in LHL Language and math bundles or write in your own

AND...
SENSES incorporates the Art Journal and Picture Art Study into learning throughout the entire week.
The Nature Journal can also be used throughout the week.

*PLEASE NOTE: There is also a BLANK weekly plan for you to fill in your own plans using the LHL hands-
on printables, lessons, and DIY projects.

ROTATION OF THE EARTH & SUN
LESSON
It is important for the child to begin to understand that the moon
rotates around the earth and the earth rotates around the sun. The
rotation of the moon around the earth is what gives us our daytime
and our nighttime. The rotation of earth around the sun is what gives
us our seasons (Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer).

ACTIVITY 1
Print the Rotation of the Moon & Earth printable template and invite SUBJECTS COVERED
your child to cut out the sun, moon, and earth. Also, cut out the axis Earth science, sensorial,
lines (connection pieces). Then work together to attach the pieces with vocabulary

BIG BEN CLOCK CRAFT & ACTIVITY
LESSON
This activity is an interactive activity that helps the child learn to recognize
analog clock times, and to make it even more fun, it is based on a famous
clock in London, England known as Big Ben. A paper plate clock allows the
child to manipulate the hands to match the cards (as the roman numerals
make it harder for some children to recognize the time).

STEPS
Big Ben Model: Assemble two milk cartons. Cut top off second carton and
glue together (second inside first) to create a longer rectangle. SUBJECTS COVERED
Cut the top of the first milk carton to form four triangles. Glue together. Time
Cut out additional pieces (see outlines) out of corrugated cardboard.
OBJECTIVE
Form a square with longer piece, glue into place.
Recognizing different times
Use the four triangles to form a peaked "roof" and glue into place.
Use the remaining four rhombus pieces to cover the milk carton on roof. on clock face
Wrap a larger piece of corrugated cardboard around base. Glue securely. AGE RECOMMENDED
Paint the entire piece a gold or medium brown. Allow to dry thoroughly. 4-8 years
Print out clock printables on card stock paper. laminate if desired for
additional durability. MATERIALS
Use the clock face surrounded by a brown square for the clock face on Milk Cartons X2
the "Big Ben" model. Glue into place. Your model is finished.
Corrugated Cardboard
Note: Depending on the age of the child, these steps may need to be
Hot Glue
completed by an adult or the child.
Paper Plate Clock Face: Use the numbered circles and glue around
Cardstock
outside of a paper plate. Cut a hole in the middle and use a brad to Laminator (optional)
attach the clock hands included. This will allow the child to manipulate the Laminating Sheets
clock face to match the hourly versions on the pinning activity. (optional)
Pinning Activity: Print out and laminate (optional) the pinning cards. Cut Brown/Gold Paint
each one out and provide a clothespin per card to denote the correct Paintbrush
answer. Scissors
Allow the child to inspect the cards. Indicate the larger and smaller hand Brad
on the clock face. Have them choose a card. Have the child match the big
Clothespins
and small hand with their interactive paper plate clock face. Ask them,
Paper plate
"which number is the big hand pointing to?" and "which number is the
small hand pointing to?" Let them choose which is the appropriate "time"
based on the position of the small hand. Have them use clothespin to clip
the correct answer on the card.
If the child chooses the incorrect answer, have them review the position of
the smaller hand and correspond it with their paper plate clock. It is
understandable that many children may not be able to read roman
numerals, that is why the interactive clock is provided with traditional
numbers.

CIRCLE TIME
WHAT IS A CIRCLE TIME?
In the Montessori classroom, the day begins with morning circle time.
Everybody gets together and sits around in the circle. It is a perfect time
to discuss how everyone feels, what they did yesterday, talk about
calendar, time, weather and introduce any new materials that will be
used.

In the home settings, the circle time can be used the traditional way, but
you can also adapt it to suit your needs. You do not have to sit on the SUBJECTS COVERED
floor, you can sit at a desk, table. Conversation & exercise

OBJECTIVE
A FEW IDEAS TO INCLUDE IN THE CIRCLE TIME To learn together

SEASONS & THE SUN
Importance of the Sun: Storytelling
The Sun is similar to a huge ball of fire. The light and heat from the Sun
reach the Earth. Without this energy from the Sun, our Earth would be
a cold and dark place. The Sun is so far away that the Earth receives

getting the right amount of light and warmth for life to exist on Earth. It
appears as if the Sun is moving across the sky, but actually, the Earth is

LIFE SKILLS: CARE OF SELF IN BEDROOM
One aspect of Montessori education is to allow the child to be as
independent as possible. The caregiver can foster this independence in
their child by allowing them to participate in the functions/work of the
home, remaining positive even if the child creates what we would
consider a mess, and preparing the environment for the child to be able
to care for themselves.

Last month we started setting up the kitchen space and this month we

OBJECTIVE
"The education of even a small child, therefore, does not aim at
Care of self & independence
preparing him for school, but for life." ~ Maria Montessori
AGE RECOMMENDED
How can we set up the child's bedroom for independence? 2-5 years
Low floor bed for infants and toddlers so they can get in and out of
the bed by themselves MATERIALS
Low hooks to hang up their jacket Clothing Labels Printable
Low shoe rack for shoes Baskets, drawers, boxes
Low bar to hang clothes with child-sized hangers or other
Easy to open dresser that is low to the floor OR shelves with Low bar to hang clothes
baskets (see picture below) with child-sized hangers

Invite your child to learn how to fold their own clothes and then put the
clothes away. The clothing labels help your child know where to put
their clothes away. It is ok if the clothes get messy in the basket or
drawer. Please remember that this is a learning process and we should
remain positive while guiding our children. Repetition in a kind, calm
manner will help them learn what you are trying to teach.

Treasure Trove

Develop good habits while

the children are very young
(2-3 years) and while they
still find these tasks fun.
When they are older, it is
not so fun anymore, but if
they have developed a
habit... it will be easier.
