Module 5 - 6 - Design Thinking - Design Methods

This document outlines the design thinking process, focusing on the testing and implementation phases. It describes the use of solution prototypes to validate proposed solutions through user observations and feedback, and emphasizes the importance of iteration and strategic planning. The implementation phase highlights the need to assess desirability, feasibility, and viability to ensure the solution effectively meets user needs and is sustainable.

Testing : Physical & Digital solutions

A Solution Prototype is a method in which users are observed engaging in
planned activities around prototypes of proposed solutions. Two types of
Solution
Prototypes are used in this method:
(1) Appearance Prototype,
which simulates the appearance of the
intended offerings
(2) Performance Prototype,
which primarily simulates the functions of the intended offerings.
Through observations on these prototypes, user experiences are revealed to
validate
or invalidate assumptions about proposed solutions.
Solution Prototypes are tested and validated in simulated environments.
Information is gathered through observing the interactions and is recorded
with video
or note taking. The observations are then analyzed to understand users’
experiences and the impact they might have on proposed solutions.
