Judith Beheading Holofernes By Michelangelo Merisi
Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio is one of the most famous Baroque painters. His work is full of
dramatic scenes that focus on the most dramatic elements. Caravaggio uses dark background to push
the subjects to the front of the screen. He is very interested in naturalism and his subjects are often life
like and very realistic. One such painting that uses all of these elements is judith Beheading Holofernes.
This piece was painted between 1598 1599 using oil and canvas. This art work is currently on display in
the Galleria Nazionale d Arte Antica at Palazzo barberini, Rome. The subject of this painting tells the
biblical story of Judith, who saved her people from Assyrian gereral Holofernes by seducing and then
beheading him. A servant can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1606 Caravaggio had to flee Rome because there was a bounty on his life after he committed a
murder. This lifestyle led him to paint pictures with much disparity and darkness and as he got older to
more grim his work became. Gentileschi s life was just as traumatic. She was raped by her teacher, who
was her father s friend. She uses the pain and torment from this incident in her art work. In her Judith
beheads horofernes she painted herself in the image of Judith and Horofernes in the image of her
The Pros And Cons Of Easter Island
How an ancient, massive statue called a moai has moved from the quarries to its ahu has many people
questioning, how did the ancient natives of Easter Island do it? Over the years, archeologists and
engineers have tried to answer this question. However all theories of these great occurrences have
limitations. This may be because no one truly knows how the ancients of Easter Island lived and how
advance their culture may have been. Another reason for these limitations is the natural resources that are
available today versus the natural resources of the past. Not only is there a difference in the natural
resources available, but the landscape may also differ from the past. Taking these factors into
consideration it is still possible to theorize
The Travelling Salesman Problem
Travelling Salesman Problem

Introduction
A salesman is required to visit all the cities with a known distance between every two cities keeping in
mind that the cities have to be visited once. The problem facing the salesman is to determine the shortest
possible route the salesman has to use to visit the towns just once and goes back to the original city.
The Travelling Salesman Problem first statement was made by a Viennese mathematician Karl Menger. It
brought a connection and relation with the definition of the curve length proposed by Menger that stated
that the stretch of a curves distance can be defined as the lower limit upper bound of the groups of all
numbers that can be contained by taking each group of points of the curve and producing the shortest
length of the polygonal graph. This problem is called the messenger problem.
The Travelling Salesman Problem can be stated as where a network has n cities or nodes, and one of the
nodes (node 1) is the origin and the cost of travelling which include the ... Show more content on

No one has come up with the efficient way of coming up with the solution to large size problems as the
NP complete problems are much intractable.
The exact methods provide an exact optimal solution to the problem. One of the ways of solving the
Travelling Salesman Problem is simply taking all the available and feasible solutions and evaluating their
function values and selecting the best out of the solutions. The process might be inefficient, impractical
and time consuming due to a large number of a possible solution that applies to the problem. Travelling
Salesman Problem focuses on getting the heuristically good solution to the problem within a short period.
The solution to the problem can be obtained by carrying numerous trials in the given cities less than their
Recording Observations For Patients Is Vital
Recording observations for patients is vital. It is a way for nurses to communicate to each other about
what signs the patient is displaying but also when and how much food and/or medications have been
administered. Observations include:
Intakes
Patient demeanour
LOC
Appearance
TPR (morning night)
Patient weighed once daily
RER calculated (Resting Energy Requirement)
Weight/ type of food offered and how much was consumed (record how long it was left in the cage/run
and also record if you did anything to entice the patient to eat such as heating the food up)
Water volume offered and consumed (when fresh water was given and what time)

Never record that you have administered a medication or carried out a task BEFORE you have done so.
If you become distracted then you could forget to administer the medication or complete the task but as
you have already recorded it then you and other nurses will assume the patient has had that task
completed. This can become dangerous as it then means that the patient could potentially miss having the
required medication administered. This is particularly important in hospitalised patients who are receiving
several different medications a day and require them to be administered at specific times, so they each
have time to be absorbed into the blood stream and not interfere with each other. When recording
medication you must ensure that you record the type of medication, time administered, date administered,
amount administered and who administered the medication. If also possible have some witness that you
administered the medication and record who witnessed it.
Food and water: When recording the intake of food you must include the type of food offered (i.e. Hill
s Science Diet Adult Dry), the amount offered (i.e. ½ a cup), the time it was offered, the type of dish it
was offered in (i.e. metal, plastic), how long the food was left in the cage for (i.e. 15 minutes) and what
you did to make the food more appealing to the patient (i.e. heating the food,

Machiavelli s The Prince Essay
Most people throughout history and today are probably in agreement that those who are in power,
with rule over peoples should keep their word; however, as Machiavelli notes, those princes that have
accomplished the most have done so through deception. A prince can fight with laws, in a civilized
manner, or with force if needed. Machiavelli believes a prince should imitate the fox in cunning as well
as the lion in strength. So a prince must seem virtuous, while simultaneously deceiving those individuals
who are willing to be deceived in order to fulfill his own interests. Machiavelli justifies this way of
carrying oneself in that other princes cannot be expected to keep their word to you, so you must act in
ways that are prosperous to your... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an interview with King Ferdinand in 1483 after his capture, Boabdil offers his subservience to the
Spanish Crown as ruler of Granada in exchange for his freedom. Ferdinand grants this to him. On
Boabdil s return to Granada, however, he is no longer recognized by Islamic clerics as the sole,
legitimate ruler. He returns again to Castile to meet with Ferdinand in 1486, this time he offers to aid
Ferdinand and Isabella in conquering Granada as long as they leave him a small portion, again
Ferdinand agrees. Boabdil succeeded in hindering El Zagal s troops, leading to a Spanish victory later.
Boabdil keeps his word and surrenders the rest of Granada in exchange for a vast private domain and a
Castilian allowance. Only one year later, King Ferdinand treats Boabdil just as he did every other
Muslim, forcing him to cede his domain in Granada and leave the country. This was perfect execution
of Machiavellian values, offering a deal because the reward far outweighed the risk in that the reward
was conquering Granada once and for all. Then once Ferdinand got what he wanted, he proceeded to
carry out policies that would prosper his own nation, and if those policies broke an agreement with a
former quasi ally then so
Characters Of A Dog In The Golden Compass, By Philip Pullman
Three years ago, my family adopted a dog. I ending up being the one who was most reluctant to
making the final decision and still was even after he had entered our family. I was the one who thought
of all the negatives for we don t need a dog incorporated into our busy lives. For the first few weeks I
did not like this dog, and the dog new it. Over time, I started to relate and bond with this dog. I saw
how he was different, he did not act like a normal dog of his breed, different from the rest. I find the
same thing in myself in my family, not like the others, but were both of us are still included and loved.
Now, the dog that I didn t want and I are closer than any of my other family members are with him. In the
novel The Golden Compass, the author Philip Pullmandevelops a similar type of relationship for each of
his characters called daemons. These companions reflect a certain person s identity, soul, and changes
in feeling through their different forms, usually as animals. I am being considered for Mr. Pullman s
next novel and he has asked me to develop daemons of my own for the next book in his series. After a
few days of thinking I have decided on three animals that would be a great representation of me in
daemon form, an owl, a lemur, and a butterfly. Throughout my academic career I have tended to be a
good student who got excellent in elementary school and straight A s in middle school. So what better
daemon to have than owl to represent this side of me. I tend to have the ability to understand concepts
and make them concrete easily when explained complete and thoroughly. This form of myself not only
comes during school work but any time that I have to be analytical. One place that I have to show my
thinking is on the tennis court, a sport that I play year round. Tennis is very much a mindgame and at my
higher level of play, I am forced to compete more and more strategically while also maintaining my
consistent fundamental skills. This means observing what your opponents weakness is and applying it to
the match so swing it into your favor. Placement, direction, speed, spin, are all things that need to be
considered during every point. My owl is not only limited to its analytical side but its
Grief Reflection Paper
I would say there were a few class discussions that I personally connected to, but it is easier to write
about it than talk about it in class for me. Our in class writing 12 I specifically connected with number
one which states Our suffering is not unique but is shared by millions and trillions of other beings,
animal as well as human. We find out that we have cancer, and we breathe in the fear, the disbelief, the
pain of all cancer patients and send relief to all. We lose someone dear to us, and it connects to
everyone who is overcome with grief. We lie awake with insomnia, and it links us to countless others
who are lying awake. On the spot, we breathe in our sleeplessness and the sleeplessness of others, breathe
in our anxiety, our agitation, and the same discomfort felt by others. On the spot, we send out restfulness,
peace of mind, contentment (p. 81). I feel I strugglewith this personally because I am a very closed
person and do not like to share my suffering or grief. I have to face though it isn t my decision because I
cannot stop people from suffering the same events that I suffer in my life, it is all out of our hands
and allows us to form much deeper connections without knowing. I believe I most struggle with my
grief in the loss of my father, which I know I am not the only one to lose my father in the world, but it
is hard for me to think that as I write this paper right now another little girl could be losing her dad. Not
only do you share suffering with complete strangers, but you share it with your closest friends and
family the most without thinking about it. In the book it states, The word tonglen is Tibetan for
sending and receiving . This makes me think of the willingness to share/send our grief and the
willingness of others to take/receive it and help us through it or vice versa for us to take someone s
grief/suffering and help them through it even if you may be suffering as well. If we do not try to face
our suffering on our own, I believe it could help lessen it and possible help you to overcome it by
allowing others to help you, but nevertheless if you overcome this obstacle there will always be another
one to face in the future. Another one of our in class writing that got me
Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderlos Laclos
Pierre Ambroise Francois Choderlos Laclos wrote what was one of the most scandalous writings of his
time. He was born October 18th 1741 and died September 5th, 1803 at the age of 61. He was considered
a beginners writer and to have a morbid look on human relations which is what he choose to write about
in Dangerous Liaisons. Although he was a military official with little literary training his book Les
Liaisons Dangereusescame to be literally acclaimed in the 18th century. Laclos was born into a Bourgeois
family in 1760 he was sent to Ecole royale d artillerie de La Fere . In 1771 he was promoted to Captain
and became bored with normal military life and began writing small poems at first and later a opera. He

Dangerous Liaisons is a thrilling and enthralling account of the sordid, scandalous aspiring and often
secretive lives of the noble class in the 18th century right before the French Revolution. Dangerous
liaisons brings to life a tale of betrayal and revenge through aristocratic women and a rather promiscuous
noble young man. As these aristocratic women are eager to climb the social ladder and find loves that are
befitting them and their social class they are unaware they are apart of an elaborate scheme for a mere
women s amusement and experimentation. The book is written as though they are letters between
everyone involved from main characters Madame de Tourvel, Vicomte de Valmont, Cecile, Madame de
Volanges, Marquise De Merteuil, and Madame de Rosemunde. There are many themes coming into
play that are most prominent during the 18th century in daily noble lives. First being that of war a
minor fight in Corsica, is in the background of Dangerous Liaisons. War is also discussed in saying that
battle is the metaphor Merteuil and Valmont use to describe their sexual exploits. Either you have a

Comparing Beowulf And Superman
Beowulf and Superman
Beowulf and Superman are characters that define what it means to be an epic hero. Epic heroes are
leaders, warriors, or rulers that possess characteristics that provide for the betterment of their people.
Although they are similar in many ways, Beowulf and Superman are also different in many ways to.
Beowulf is known as a great warrior with unmatched fighting skills, and Superman is known as a man
from another world that has god like powers. Beowulf and Superman possess the characteristics of
battling supernatural foes, superhuman capabilities, and unmatched warriors.

WALMART AND TARGET:
A COMMUNICATION COMPARISON

INTRODUCTION

Many discount retailers have come and gone over the years, but Wal Mart and more recently Target, have
employed business models that continually deliver profits, even in the struggling economy of the United
states in recent years. Wal Mart and Target both have expanded rapidly since their inception and while

Because of the success of Target stores, the company was renamed Target Corporationin August 2000.
Target Corporation has three main divisions: Target Stores, Mervyn s, and Marshall Field s. Target
Stores, the second largest discount retailer, offers products geared to attract a more affluent discount
shopper. The Target customer is much younger than other discount BIG BOX stores with an average age
of just 40, mostly female, have children and are college graduates. The distinction in customer base is
important due to the emphasis on quality at lower prices. Target separates itself from its competitors by
offering more up to date and stylish products, better quality, while still keeping prices lower. The
attractiveness of the store presentations and the employee attentiveness also gives Target an edge against
other BIG BOX discount retailers.

Target s sales revenues have consistently grown since 2008, in spite of economical challenges. Ending
sales for 2011 topped $69 million, a $2 million increase over the previous year. Sales increases show that
their marketing, advertising and communication styles are working to bring in new customers and to
retain the customers they have.

Summary

Wal Mart and Target are both discount BIG BOX retailers which have made the most of their strengths
and have drawn upon the differences in their customer bases, product mix and business strategy. Even
though both
