Nature Vs. Nurture In Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
A Clockwork Orange
The power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate. Drugs, rape, and ultra violence,
example nature vs. nurture in Anthony Burgess s , A Clockwork Orange. In England s dystopian
futuristic world, fifteen year old Alex and his droogs , go on atrocity sprees at night for their own
pleasure. This book gives off the topic whether or not to be evil by choice or nature to be good against
one s will. Anthony Burgess was born on February 25, 1917 in Harpurhey, Manchester, United Kingdom
. His parents were both talented artists; his mother, a singer and actress who performed at music hall
stage, and his father, a pianist who played at silent cinemas and music hall as well. The year of 1918, his

Anthony Burgess definition of moral freedom is the ability to do both good and evil. Burgess, created
a language that purposely, for anyone to understand the book, the words had to be analyzed. He used
russian words which resembled a teens language per se, from how harsh they sounded; it was known as
Nadsat. It s the idea of understanding teenagers of how their mind works and what they re trying to say.
In Part 1, Chapter 4, Alex and his droogs , broke into a writer s home who ironically was writing A

1944, Burgess s first pregnant wife, Llewela Jones, was raped and beaten by American drunk soldiers,
while Anthony was stationed in Gibraltar. Unfortunately, she had miscarried and later died Burgess since

Descriptive Essay About Makeup
Women have been wearing makeup for years. Throughout the years, I transform myself into celebrities I
look up too. To transform into a character, I need the proper makeup tools to help me look like Angelina
Jolie. The tools I need are makeup brushes: contour brush, eyeshadow brush, angled eyeliner brush.
Transforming my face into a well known celebrity challenges my skills. To transform my face, I see my
characteristics are similar to Angelina Jolie. I identify my face to see if the transformation is possible. I
need defined cheeks because Angelina Jolie s cheek bones is her most prominent feature. The cheeks
must be high and well defined. Defining the cheeks, I choose a medium brown shade of eyeshadow or
bronzer. The forehead is the second most important feature to create. Angelina Jolie has a long, narrow
forehead, as mine is wide. Having the medium brown shadow on my temples it creates shadows. I
create the illusion of a long forehead. After identifying my features, I am ready to start my
transformation. The alterations for my face will take time to prefect. It will take an hour or longer to
do. I might have to attempt the look a few times until I get it right. When I perfect the look, I am ready
to start. Next, I clean my face to have a clean canvas. Then moisturize my face so the makeup does not
look cakey. Now time to collect my makeup supplies. The conversion of my face is ready to perceive.

The figuration is ready to start. I have the right makeup choices to

The Ozark Actors Theatre And Their Mission
APPLICATION OF THEORIES When looking at the Ozark Actors Theatre and their mission, in
general, they relate to the supply side theory as to why they exist. The supply side theory attributes the
existence of nonprofit organizations to the vision and initiative of individuals who have created and
built them (Worth, pg. 50). Additionally, the organization also exists as a common good, one that cannot
be consumed alone by an individual nor are they an interest or benefit to all people (Worth, pg. 52). This
is true as OAT provides community theatre in a rural area, but it is not a service that is of interest to the
entire community. On the contrary, Missouri Nurses Association acts as a gap filler to provide their
members goods and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All other associates are volunteer based whether they reside on the board or not. Members of the
board are actively involved in programs and shows associated with OAT. In terms of their marketing
level, OAT is in Stage four of their life cycle. They have an active website, Facebook page and recently
added a Twitter and Instagram account. They often send out email blasts, place ads in the paper about
upcoming events, submit press releases to larger area newspapers and send out rack cards on all large
shows. Missouri Nurses Association is firmly in stage four or Produce and Sustain. Jill Klienthermes
is a well rounded individual and is the CEO of MONA. The organization is at its peak with four full
time paid staff and one full time lobbyist. MONA offers well designed annual events for its members
and offers education and advocacy through its programs. In addition, they have a well defined strategic
plan and sophisticated marketing materials that include the publication The Missouri Nurse that is
published two to three times a year. Their fundraising is stable and their yearly conferences and
membership fees provide a steady source of income. BOARD GOVERNANCE The board governance
of the Missouri Nurses Association is one of an elected board. A nomination committee seeks qualified

Ralph Lauren Mission Statement
A popular goal for many businesses, especially in the fashion industry, is to provide quality products to
customers. Especially within the world of fashion, keeping customers loyal and happy is important for
any business, because customers mean sales and sales mean profit. Therefore, this is why providing
quality products is one major goal of Ralph Laurens mission statement. Ralph Lauren understands how
having quality products that satisfy customers impacts the loyalty of customers as well as the growth and
continuation of the business. When customers are not happy, they do not buy. Also, when customers do
not buy, they generally go to competitors. Furthermore, when customers are not happy, they often tell
others of their displeasure. Word of mouth

current pope of the Catholic church, Pope Francis, is a Jesuit. The Jesuit order is committed to doing

The Jesuits and Marianist have many similarities and differences among their communities. In the
Marianist community they too are very much involved in wide variety of people such as, education,
parishes, and spirituality centers. Just as the Jesuits are focused on diversity, so are the Marinist. The
Marianist community consisted of Priest and Brothers which eventually spread to the Sisters, while the
Jesuits are mainly made up of just Priests and Brothers. The mission of the Marianist is to seek the
gospel through service and the lives of others. With the guidance of Mary, the Marianist work together
to find faith to help serve others for their dignity, liberation, and justice. The Marianist look at Mary as a
model of faith and guidance to help carry out God s plan to serve others. Mary is their model of faith, just
as Jesus is the Jesuits model of faith. Marianist put the presence of Jesus among not only themselves but
for others. Both Jesuits and Marianists value living, praying, and supporting the community which
strengthens the world, mainly those in poverty. The Marianists has a similar mission statement to the
Jesuits as they both live in a community as equals. The difference between each of the mission statements
are that the Marianists minister with the youth and solidarity of the poor. Both religious orders contribute
to today s society by making Cleveland a better place through work of God and His
Peta Advertisement Analysis
At first glance, this picture seems harmless; a minor misjudgment from PeTA s public relations team.
However, upon further analysis, it is clear that PeTA is advocating for the assault, oppression, and
removal of agency from women. This advertisement, with a picture of a cat laying on its back, paw
outstretched to the viewer, face upside down, with the phrase, GRAB A PUSSY! in the design of an
American flag, with the words, Adopt a Cat From Your Local Shelter below it, seems to have good
intentions. However, when one deconstructs the imagery and meaning behind the words and image, the
other meanings overshadow the importance of this message. Whether this ad had good intentions or not,
this PeTA advertisement advocates for the assault, dehumanization,
Alcohol and Despair Depicted in Ernest Hemingway s Short...
Throughout the short stories of Ernest Hemingway, alcohol inevitably lends its company to situations in
which desperation already resides. In an examination of his earlier works, such as In Our Time, a
comparison to later collections reveals the constant presence of alcohol where hopelessness prevails. The
nature of the hopelessness, the desperation, changes from his earlier works to his later pieces, but its
source remains the same: potential, or promise of the future causes a great deal of trepidation and lament
throughout Hemingway s pieces. Whether the desperation comes from trepidation or lament depends on
the view pointfrom which it is observed, or rather, experienced.

In many of the works written early in his career, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In moving from the earlier stories of In Our Time to stories published in later collections, the shift in the
attitude of the characters toward potential and promise becomes clear.

Indian Camp in In Our Time, depicts Nick Adams a small boy, exposed to death for the first time. This
story does not describe desperation nor does it include alcohol; rather, it demonstrates the promise held
in the possibilities of life in Nick s final thoughts: In the early morning on the lake sitting in the stern of
the boat with his father rowing, he felt quite sure that he would never die (Hemingway 95). Despite the
events he witnesses in the camp, Nick s future seems boundless, as well as endless. Potential has no
limits, and the pressures of fulfilling potential are, as yet, unknown to him. This first story in
Hemingway s first published collection serves as a fitting point of departure for the descriptions of
desperation that follow; Nick is free from the weight of potential, and judging by his enjoyment of the
idyllic setting that surrounds him, it seems that he looks forward to the promise of life.

The Three Day Blow offers the reader one of the first opportunities to observe the trepidation and fear of
future potential. The story happens to feature Nick Adams, but as other stories are examined, different
characters will also exhibit
Pfizer And Developing Country Access For Essential Medicines
Part A:
GlaxoSmithKline and developing country access to essential medicines
The case study emphasized the spread of the HIV/AID s virus especially in the Least developed
countries (LDC s) where it was not possible for the poor people to be able to afford the expensive drugs
used to cure the disease. The pharmaceutical companies were consistently pressurized to take a solution
out of this to provide the medicines to the victims. Survey reports indicated that many deaths were
happening and many were expected especially in the south Africa where the standards of living and
earnings of people were very insufficient to afford the life saving drugs.

significant reduction in prices of HIV/AIDS drugs in LDC s, trying to take a step ahead to fulfill its

Blood diamonds
Issue identified in the text was about the smuggling of diamonds to earn money that was used to fund
the armed groups often against the government. These diamonods were termed as blood diamonds . In
many parts of the world, diamonds were sold for illegal purposes and were a source of income for the
armed groups. Strict actions were necessary to be taken against these illegal acts to secure the lives of
people becoming victims of conflict and civil unrest.
Diamonds are suitable for smuggling due to their small size, high value and once polished, their origin is

Social Bodies Book Review
Chapter 1 titled Social Bodies: Tightening the Bonds of Beauty provides an overview of social bodies
and the nature of masculine and feminine standards society has adopted through changing culture and
social norms. It connects the change of cultural ideologies and social institutions to directly changing
body standards and customs in order to prove why the ideals of beauty have changed causing higher rates
of cosmetic procedures. Partially due to image socialization, tighter bonds of beauty for women than men
are reflected in the statistics reported by the ABPS. Lastly, this chapter discusses the definition of
cosmetic surgeryfor the purpose of clarifying what the book is discussing later on.

custom of society today. The unique point of view the author provides allows the reader to fully grasp the
many components that have made the reputation of cosmetic surgery. This insight acquired from the
abundance of sources cited in the bibliography of this book ensures that the information and data
provided is credible and relevant to the topic at hand. This book can relate to virtually any topic of
discussion pertaining to cosmetic surgery as a growing industry. The broad spectrum of topics,
viewpoints, and references throughout this book will easily weave into the support of my claim that the
growing industry of cosmetic surgery demands greater recognition in society. Specifically, points in the
book that stood out to potentially support my claim include, the potential problems the future of plastic
surgery holds, the varying consequences a changing ideal of beauty entails, and finally, the power of
commercialism in today s society. This book, in my educated opinion, would be a great choice for anyone
uneducated on aesthetic surgery or anyone thinking of getting or performing such
The Effects Of Air Pollution On China
In December of 2015, China was faced with a red alert for air pollution. In an article from The New York
Times titled Smog So Thick, Beijing Comes to a Standstill, Edward Wong stated, For many residents, the
red alert...underscored the devil s handshake that China has made in recent years: the trading of a healthy
living environment for breakneck economic growth. There are many negative consequences of air
pollution. Vaclav Smil s Environmental Degradation in China, describes the various problems that
China s environment is facing. Smil explains that air pollution is a ubiquitous and particularly
troublesome problem in virtually all of China s large cities and industrials areas (778). China s polluted
air, along with the disappearance of good farmland, forest depletion and water resources, are all areas of
concern that Smil brings to attention. These areas should not concern only China s population, but it
should be concerning to everyone around the world. Not only does air pollution have a negative effect on
the environment, but it also has negative effects on society, as well. Air pollution can be explained as a
social problem since many of these environmental problems are possible ramifications of urbanization. As
higher class individuals make lifestyle choices that directly impact the environment in a negative way, the
entire population suffers the consequences. Because of the damaging effects of air pollution, China must
develop a way to remain urbanized
What Are The Disadvantages Of Concrete
In 2005, H Azamirad et al published a paper A criticism of Self Compacting Concrete which talks about
the problems in using SCC such as segregation and roles of different materials which affect it. It talks
about the economic problems too. Finally it says about some projects which are executed with SCC. This
paper helped in identifying the disadvantages of using SCC.

In 1990, T.H. Cooke wrote a book Concrete Pumping and Spraying: A practical guide . This book is
related to pumping operations of concrete. A nomograph is suggested by this book which is used for
determining the working power required for conventional concrete and SCC so that costing can be done.
It explains the graph and tells the method of usage.

Pumping operations will require less energy as it possesses flow able properties. Further due to its
flowing nature speed of construction will be increased. Rapid rate of concrete placement is possible
decreasing the placing time. Reduction in site manpower is achieved in various stages like faster
pumping requires less manpower hours, reduction of vibration needs negligible manpower, smooth
surface obtained from SCC needs less labor for finishing purposes, if SCC is placed properly then there
are negligible bug holes and patches on surface thus reducing the manpower demand. The construction
process becomes more productive which is evident by the fact that the truck has to wait for less time for
unloading of SCC and can go early thus improving the productivity. Also the service life of vibration
equipment and formwork will increase. Due to elimination of vibration to consolidate the mixture, the
forms used in the precast operations will receive less wear and tear, decreasing the regular maintenance
costs and costs of investing in new forms. SCC also shows high early strength allowing early removal of
formwork thus increasing
Analysis Of The Movie Slumdog Millionaire
A.Social Class According to Weber, a large group of people who rank close to one another in property,
power and prestige. (PG. 258)
The video we watched was about a mega slum named Dharavi. It is located in Mumbai, India. They
have around or over one million people living in an area smaller than Central Park in New York City.
This is the area which the movie Slumdog Millionaire was filmed and aimed to show the lifestyles and
things that people from Dharavi encounter every day. How a slum is defined is when there are more
than 2 people living in one room. The term social class is important in this movie because they show you
that in Mumbai if you live or come from the slum you are considered the lowest class within the area.
This is because most people consider the habitants of the slums people you don t want to be around, or
ever become. The whole population is considered to be one social class even though, many of these
small business owners are considered to be wealthy because of how their small businesses have thrived
over time. The population or people living in Dharavi are considered Tanning or Untouchables. This is
the bottom social class of the region. Many say that they never can stop being considered an
Untouchable . They say that one million dollars comes out of this slum a day. They have many small
factories, businesses and shops. Another huge staple of their economy is the rag pickers ; moreover, they
are citizens of the area that pick through the huge
