I am pleased to welcome you all to this collaborative debate of Philosophy and UCSP.

The TOPIC being debated today is: (Read the topic)


Seated on my RIGHT representing the Affirmative Side while on my LEFT are the Negative
Side.
The JUDGES for today are Ma’am Aiza and yours truly. I am also the moderator for today.
The TIME LIMIT will be flashed on the screen. The debaters will have 8 minutes to deliver
their remarks. There will be a break of 2 minutes after which the debaters will have 2
minutes each for Rebuttal.
After each debater sits down, I will immediately call on the next debater to begin his or her
address.
RULES: Heckling and formal questions will be permitted but judges will deduct points to
debaters who interrupts another thoughtlessly or excessively or who lowers the level of
debate.
Are there any questions? If there are none, may I call on the First Affirmative Speaker to
deliver their case.
(After the First Affirmative speech)
I thank the First Affirmative Speaker for his/her remarks. We shall now hear the First
Negative speech.
(After the First Negative Speech)
I thank the First Negative Speaker. We will now have a 2-minute recess during which the
debaters are to prepare their rebuttals.
(After Recess)
I now call upon the First Rebuttal Speaker for the Affirmative Side.
We will now have a 2- minute break.
I now call upon the First Rebuttal Speaker for the Negative Side.
Let’s have another 2-minute break to prepare for their rebuttal.
I now call upon the Second Rebuttal Speaker for the Affirmative Side.
We will now have a 2- minute break.
I now call upon the Second Rebuttal Speaker for the Negative Side.
Let’s have another 2-minute break to prepare for their concluding statement.
I now call a speaker from the Affirmative Side to present their Final Statement.
And someone from the Negative Side for their Final Statement.
QUESTIONS: And now, may I ask the Judges to ask each question from both sides. They
will have 4 minutes to answer.
FINAL: Thank you judges. Congratulations to all debaters on their performance and to the
audience for their attentiveness. This debate is now concluded.
