INTRODUCTION
The community you belong to has a vital part to your personal and social well-
being. Likewise, as a youth, you also play a crucial role in accomplishing your
community’s vision. As Dr. Jose P. Rizal said, “Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng
bayan.” So, it is of utmost importance that you become proactive in everything that
your community is going through.
This module seeks to give you essential information on how you could be a
participative learner not only at school but to your community as well. This will also
provide you an opportunity to be part of a community development by designing and
implementing a community-action plan.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
1. Identify the ways and means in implementing the community-action plan
2. cite the importance of community engagement and proper process of
implementing community-action initiatives; and
3. carry out the community-action plan successfully.
VOCABULARY LIST
Before you start your learning journey, please be familiar with the
following terms that would be essential in understanding our
discussions:

Community Action Plan. It is a road map for implementing community change by
identifying and specifying WHAT will be done, who will do it and HOW it will
be done? In other words, the action plan describes what the community
wants to accomplish, what activities are required during a specified timeline
and what resources (money, people and materials) are needed to be
successful.
Stakeholder. It refers to an individual or organization who shares the same interest in the
fulfillment and success of a project in each community.
Network. A contact list of key groups, government departments and others who are
supporting the community action plan.
You can also check your dictionary if you encounter some words which
are still unfamiliar to you as we go along with our discussions. Now, I think
you are ready to reveal our learning paths!

Community action includes a broad range of activities and is
sometimes described as ‘social action' or ‘community
engagement'.
These activities can vary in their objective, the role the community
plays, the types of activities involved, their scale and their integration within the
council. What they have in common is that they all involve greater engagement of

local citizens in the planning, engagement, empowerment of communities in the
design and delivery of local services.
You are in a very crucial stage of the course as you on board a real life actual
implementation of your project to the community. You went through different stages
and processes of conceptual and experiential understanding of community and
community proposal-making. Now, the question is: Are you ready? Always remember
that by virtue of the principle of solidarity and our responsibility to our fellow human
beings, we are doing this not just for the class assignment and requirement but
because it is our mission to accompany the disadvantaged and marginalized.
Below are the guidelines in implementing the activities before, during and after
community-action initiatives.
1. Need Determination
❖ Ocular visit of the target barangay or community.
2. Community Survey
❖ Gathering facts and figures about the profile of the community.
3. Packaging/Formulating Community Project Proposal
❖ A written project proposal to be undertaken by an assigned team or
a group and for submission to the Subject Teacher for approval.
4. Implementation of the Community-action initiatives.
❖ The team or group carries out their project(s) to the barangay via
seminar workshop, demonstration, etc. anchored or any of the
following major topics:

4.2 Environmental issues and concern

5. Monitoring and Evaluation
❖ This is assessing the community action initiatives/activities whether
its effect or impacts are positive or negative failure or success.
6. Writing and reporting of terminal report about the action plan initiatives and
activities undertaken
❖ Accomplishment reports of the action plan initiatives including their
community experiences must be written and documented. This report
will be discussed and shared in the class.
Rules and regulation in conducting community integration activity:
a. Common courtesy (Do’s and Don’ts before, during and after community action
initiatives)
b. Safety measures observing proper protocols (observe social distancing, wear
your mask and washing hands)
c. Make sure that the materials needed are complete letters, receiving copies
and other necessary documents (documents (see attach Communication
Letter to the Parents, School Principal and Barangay Captain below)
d. Pointers taken from your experiences
