Computer systems have traditionally been classified by their size and processing power into:

 Mainframe
 Minicomputer
 Microcomputer

Mainframe

Mainframe computers are the largest. Largest organisations such as banks, police and government
departments use them to process large amount of data.

Microcomputer

These are the smallest and cheapest computers. The PC is a microcomputer.
