Police Agencies and Law Enforcements
Police Agencies Law enforcement is a major element to keeping the balance of a society. Yet, it is
an incredibly complex endeavor. In this country, the execution of law enforcement has been
broken up into local, state, and federal agencies that all address varying elements of law
enforcement, and often in collaboration with each other. The current structure of law
enforcement in this country is very complex. There are various types of police agencies broken
up based on differing jurisdiction (Grant Te My 12). Today, there are over 18,000 police agencies
working within the context of the United States (Walker Katz 59). These agencies enforce our
legal structure through social control and force (Grant Te My 7). This maintains a very delicate
balance that helps protect and serve the larger society. These agencies employed 731,903 full time
officers in 2004 (Walker Katz 62). Still, this sometimes doesn t even seem like enough. In fact, this
country is notorious for a very low police to population ratio, and the national average for local
agencies is 2.5 sworn officers per thousand (Walker Katz 63). The structure of legal system as it
stands today is costing around $57.5 billion annually (Walker Katz 63). This creates a situation
where the structure of police departments and agencies is incredibly fragmented. This has often been
a source of controversy when examining the structure and functions of police agencies in
contemporary American society. Thus,
Short Term Effects On Consumer
The short term effects on the individual cannabis consumer is that they will have a mood change.
Some people may feel relaxed, sleepy, quiet or lazy while others may be full of laughter, talkatively
and excitement. Other short term effects on the cannabis user may include a bigger appetite, a
limited concentration time, a dry mouth, slower reaction times, reduced coordination, hallucination,
blurred vision and anxiety. The short term effects of cannabisuse on the community is a slower
reaction time and reduced coordination which may cause a car crash. This could potentially kill a
person or even a group of people from the short term use of cannabis. Cannabis use may also cause
misunderstanding or miscommunication of someone which may cause
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Aerobic Composting
Aerobic process, also called Composting, is a natural process that rot or decompose organic matter by

microorganisms under some controlled conditions. When raw organic materials like crop residues,
animal

wastes, food wastes, some municipal wastes and suitable industrial wastes having undergone
composting,

can make them become more suitable to apply to the soil as a fertilizing resource.

Aerobic composting occurs in the presence of abundant oxygen. In this procedure, aerobic
microorganisms

decompose natural matter and generate carbon dioxide, ammonia, water, heat and humus, the
approximately

stable organic finished product. 4Although aerobic composting may create intermediate complexes,

In vessel methods depend on an assortment of constrained air circulation and

mechanical swinging strategies to quicken the treating the soil procedure. Numerous methods
combine

techniques from the windrow and aerated pile methods trying to defeat the inadequacies and utilize
the

characteristics of each technique. This technique permits the administrator to keep up close control
over the

procedure. Other advantages of this technique contrasted with other composting techniques are: the
impacts

of climate are lessened, the quality of the subsequent product is more reliable, less labor is needed to

manipulate the system and public acceptance of the facility may be better. Also, because of the littler
space

necessity, in vessel technology is more suitable in rural and urban technologies contrasted with the
other

composting technologies. Also, the in vessel system allows for detailed containment and treatment
of air to

remove odors before they discharge. 6Disadvantages of this technique are that it is generally more
costly than
the other methods, especially regarding capital expenses. The higher level of automation with this
technique

also brings about increases operational expenses because of the maintenance requirements.
Sonny Blues Theme
The story of Sonny Blues , by James Baldwin, reflects on a time in music when Harlem was at a
crossroads in the cultural movements for African Americans. It was a time of poverty and of self
discovery within communities after the war. This story was about the lives and struggles of two
brothers within the Harlem community that was stricken by its poverty, crime and drug abuse that
plagued its city streets. Their family was haunted with the fear for the safety of their children due to
the growing changes of the city, but felt trapped within confinement of its walls of poverty. Yet it
was never really mentioned why until the mother explained the brutal racial killing of an uncle that
haunted the boy s father years ago. As for the narrator, refusing to let the declining community affect
him, he was able to overcome his obstacles in life and became an inner city teacher. His... Show

It became a way of self expression; his own movement within himself. He related to the way he felt
the music move him, was the way the heroin flowed through his veins and set him free. Free of
the confinements of the city that trapped his youth, and free of the bars that held him hostage to
break his habit of addiction. Even though he had hurt his family, he was able to relate his pain
and struggles through music. With his own emotional struggles after the death of his child, the
narrator reunites with his brother years later. They later came together in the end, for Sonny s
concert, as the narrator finally sees his brothers inner struggles come to life as he performs. A true
artist becomes their art, and Sonny expressed that body and soul in his expression of his emotions
etched upon his face as he played the piano. For the first time the narrator was able to connect with
his own emotions, as well as accept his brother for whom he has now become, as he felt Sonny s
emotions fill the
A Sand County Almanac And Monkeys Are Made Of Chocolate
More importantly is that by doing my service learning at the Gladys Porter Zoo and by observing
the behavior of the animals inside a cage, is that I make a connection with the three novels that
we read in class, Oceans The Threats to Our Seas and What You Can Do to Turn the Tide, A Sand
County Almanac and Monkeys Are Made of Chocolate. The novel Oceans explains the importance
of the oceans and how Jon Bowermaster gives examples towards society to inspire them and take an
action to find a solution in order to change the tide. Not only Bowermaster describe this, also
Leonardo DiCaprio, Alexandra Cousteau, Christopher Mann, Callum Roberts, and Captain Paul
Watson who made a contribution to the book. On the other hand, the novel A Sand County Almanac
explains the view that Aldo Leopold has about the green fierce fire, the importance of Land Ethics,
and how society needs to use the land ethic with a little help of humility in order to save our earth.
Cyber Warfare Techniques And Technology Development...
To address the increasing threats to national security coming from the cyber domain, military
intelligence corps have recognized the need for officers trained in cyberspace counterterrorism
techniques, technologies, and methods. These officers direct and conduct integrated electronic
warfare, information technology, and cyberspace operations, as authorized or directed, to ensure
freedom of action in and through cyberspace and the information environment, and to deny the same
to our nation s adversaries.
In support of the requirement for officers trained in cyber warfare techniques and technologies, the
ROTC Cyber Research program provides cadets with opportunities to research and solve real world
problems in cyber security and cyber counter terrorism.
This first year pilot program research effort focused on the design and deployment of a covert
communications network that can operate at the enemy s operational base and gather intelligence on
enemy communications and activities. This effort is in support of the Year 1 Challenge Problem of
the Cyber Spectrum Research and Technology Development Virtual Environment (CSpec DVE).
The covert communications system design is optimal with regard to detection avoidance,
information gathering and transmission, and power requirements. Covert methodologies for
installation, maintenance, and data retrieval were also devised. It was determined that a covert
system can easily be set up in an residential enemy base of operations using
Health System In Australia
There is an old joke about one fish asking another about the state of the water and the other
answering what s water? When one is immersed in something and that is his daily experience he is
not able to step outside it all you sees is what he knows.
With all the talk about Australia s health system being untenable, it s useful to step back and look at
the Australian health system in an international context.

Australia s health system is complex, and best described as a web of services, providers, recipients
and organizational structures. And they all seem to be doing a good job because research conducted
by Grattan Institute/OECD shows that. Australia sits above average in life expectancy when
compared to other countries. This is good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Australian Nobel Laureates Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet and Professor Peter Doherty, were the first
to change scientists basic understanding of the function of the immune system, as well as the way
infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases (A disease in which the body produces antibodies that
attack its own tissues, leading to the deterioration and in some cases to the destruction of such tissue)

antibiotic, penicillin, for use in humans.
Due to all these discoveries Australia has been fortunate in its experience with infectious diseases

The Theme Of Existentialism In The Brother s Karamazov
The Brother s Karamazov describes the life of a man, named Fyodor Karamazov, and his four sons.
Each son represents a certain worldview which is explored throughout the novel. The oldest son,
Dmitri, after arguing with his father over his inheritance, falls in love with a woman named
Grushenka. When Fyodor is murdered, and three thousand roubles are stolen from him, the police
accuse Dmitri because of his conflict with Fyodor. The Brothers Karamazovdescribes how three men
with contrasting world views discover the corruption of their family and the truth behind a hideous
murder.

Søren Kierkegaard is considered the father of existentialism ( Christian and Theological
Existentialism ). Kierkegaard wrote a book about the paradox surrounding Abraham sacrificing
Isaac. The narrator questions whether Abraham s faith in God can justify killing his son (Søren
Kierkegaard: A Master of Refraction 78). Another existentialist, Karl Jaspers, argues that, free will
makes all faith essentially existential. Jaspers also argues that, since life is absurd, it is less absurd
to believe in a God which promises eternal life than to believe in nothing at all ( Christian and
Theological Existentialism ).
Dostoyevsky uses two contrasting chapters to argue against atheistic existentialism. The Grand
Inquisitor is a story written by Ivan Karamazov. In the story, Jesus visits the Spanish Inquisition,
but the religious leaders do not want Him there. They claim that they already have freedom, and
that His return will take the freedom away. The chapter reveals Ivan s belief that the church is just
a cult which thrives off of the weak, and it explains how incredibly boring a sinless world would
Analysis Of The Book Dreams By Christopher Nolan
Running head: INCEPTION PERCEPTION

Inception Perception
Olivia Young 29 02
AP Psychology Inception Perception Inception is a film about dreams and being able to explore
people s subconscious by entering their dreams directed by Christopher Nolan (Nolan, 2010). Dom
Cobb is the main character who must plant an idea into a billionaire s son s mind, to break up his
father s empire. This is not Cobb s motive though, he is only doing this to be able to return to his
children. He needs the pardon from Saito, who hired him to perform the inception, because he is
believed to have killed his wife. The truth is that she killed herself and left in her will that he killed
her, to encourage Cobb to commit suicide with her. She believed that ... Show more content on

The idea of exploring someone s subconscious is the dream state, which is when you enter someone
s dream. This is designed by the architect and filled with projections of the person s subconscious.
In the state, your conscious is lowered and if not previously informed of entering the dream state,
you will perceive it as reality. If you enter a dream within a dream, you are delving deeper into the
person s subconscious. That is where secrets and important information is kept within your layers of
consciousness. If you delve deep enough, you will reach the edge of your subconscious. This is
dangerous though because to return to reality, you need the kick to be synchronized among all
the layers of the subconscious. If you spend too long in the dream state, the lines of reality and
dreaming can become blurred. In the movie, Cobb and his team are delving into Fischer s
subconscious to plant the idea for him to break up his father s empire (Nolan, 2010). To do this,
they must go very deep and plant the simplest of ideas, so his subconscious will run with it so
consciously he will make the decision. They used him and his father s relationship, because that is
the root of the idea they need to plant. It is not revealed in the movie though if the inception worked
(Nolan, 2010). To be conscious is to have awareness of ourselves and our environment (Myers,
2011). Freud proposed the idea the our conscious was divided into the conscious, preconscious, and
unconscious. The
Physical Therapy Program
The process a student experiences to become a licensed physical therapist certainly is strenuous
due to the average 3.52 GPA an individual should acquire to be accepted into a PT program (Ross).
Before a student sets up an application for a program, s/he is required to receive a bachelor s
degree that pertains to any basic science course such as anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, or
physics ( Physical TherapySchools ). Although a bachelor s degree may be earned, specific classes
need to be taken by a student to enroll in any PT program; these courses include, but not limited to,

Healthcare Relational And Object-Oriented Database
Database is an organized collection of data, references, or pictures that s stored in the computer. The
healthcare database replace paper documents, file folders, and filing cabinets. Its real time
processing that delivers health information. When a name is put in the computer you can see instant
results, just as placing orders or results into the EHR and the information is instantly stored there. A
database is composed both of data, and of programs or software to enter and manipulate the data.
Both data and software are stored within the computers which support the database. There are two
common types of databases used in healthcare, relational and object oriented database. The relational
database stores data in predefined tables and the
Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health
Effects of social media on mental health Overview Social media is described, by the Merriam
Webster dictionary (2015), as forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social
networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share
information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) . As few as 10 years ago
the term social media was yet to be coined, but within that decade the use of these blogs, websites
and sharing platforms has increased exponentially with no plateau in sight. From creating
Instagram accounts for household pets, to sharing Halloween themed baking ideas over
Pinterest, people today have access to social media outlets for almost everything. Today about
74% of people ages 18 65 use some form of a social networking site (Pew, 2014). Facebook takes
the lead in social media usage with about 71% of those adults. LinkedIn and Pinterest are tied for
second at 28% of users, 26% use Instagram, and Twitter falls last in the top 5 most used social
medias with 23% of users (Pew, 2014). In September of 2013 the Pew Research Center measured
that 90% of adults ages 18 29 used these social media outlets on a daily basis, which is an
astonishing increase from the 9% that was measured in February 2005 (Pew, 2014). Due to the fact
that young adults are increasingly involving themselves in these online platforms, it is very
important to understand the long term and psychological effects (such as depression, social anxiety,

Multicultural Education in America America has long been called The Melting Pot because it is
made up of a varied mix of races, cultures, and ethnicities. As more and more immigrants come to
America searching for a better life, the population naturally becomes more diverse. This has, in turn,
spun a great debate over multiculturalism. Some of the issues under fire are who is benefiting from
the education, and how to present the material in a way so as to offend the least amount of people.
There are many variations on these themes as will be discussed later in this paper. In John Spayde s
article, Learning in the Key of Life, he talks about how Education is ... Show more content on

These steps are as follows: First, from the very beginning, social studies should be taught from a
global perspective. We are all equal owners of the earth, none of us are more entitled than others to
share in its many wealth s or misfortunes. The uniqueness of each individual is what adds variety to
our everyday life. Second, social studies will continue to serve nation building purposes. By pointing
out the things we share in common, it will be easier to examine the individual things that make us
different. Third, the curriculum must strive to be informed by the most up to date scholarship. The
administrators must know that in the past, we have learned from our mistakes, and we will continue
to do so in the future. By keeping an open mind, we will take in new knowledge and different
viewpoints as they are brought up. Fourth, students need to see themselves as active makers and
changers of culture and society. If given the skills to judge people and their thoughts fairly, and the
knowledge that they can make a difference, students will take better control of life in the future.
Fifth, the program should be committed to the honoring and continuing examination of democratic
values as an essential basis for social organization and nation building. Although the democratic
system is far from perfect, it
