The Benefits Of A Single Stage To Orbit
A Single Stage to Orbit (SSTO) spaceplane would have many advantages over current methods of
getting people and equipment into space. Chief among these is major cost reduction. SSTOs would
be fully reusable, being that they are meant to send people to space and bring them back. A fully
reusable single stage space plane would have an advantage over a fully reusable rocketbooster,
similar to what was used on the shuttle, and what is being used as the first stage on SpaceX s
Falcon 9. In fact, the Falcon 9 has already started to pay off to SpaceX. According to an article from
SpaceNews.com, the President of SpaceX, Gwynne Shotwell, reported that a rocket launched in
March which had a reused first stage was substantially less than half ... Show more content on

There is a challenge for TSTOs to overcome: air friction being directed on the vehicle from its
booster, while separating. The paper Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept
During Separation at Mach 6 , investigates the issue. This study looked into the aeroheating on two
crafts when separating so one can make it into space, while the other, the first stage, returns to land.
The study found that in the small scale test conducted that there were not much negative effects of
heating from friction on one craft to the other. This would appear to be a positive development for
the TSTO community as it is possible to get a craft into space by attaching it to another.
As is seen in Investigation of Two Stage to Orbit Airbreathing Launch Vehicle Configurations ,
there are many possible configurations for a TSTO. The kind this paper explored most was the
booster craft had the orbiter attacked on top of it, similar to how NASA transported the Shuttles on
top of a modified 747. Aeroheating Characteristics for a Two Stage To Orbit Concept During
Separation at Mach 6 shows the characteristics of aeroheating during the separation of the top bottom
configuration. The paper showed that it is possible for the top bottom configuration, and that the
aerodynamic forces from the two vehicles won t negatively affect each other.
TSTO launches have happened before, albeit
How Does Calvin Klein Set Standard Of The Physical Ideal
Just be is the slogan of the world renowned designer, Calvin Klein. According to him, his
advertisements supposedly promote uniqueness and individuality, however, along with most known
designers. Calvin Klein does not have overweight or unattractive people representing his brand,
walking his runways, in his magazine or television ads. Furthermore, the music, movie and mass

the femalebody. Propaganda such as this encourages people into depriving themselves of their
nutritious needs and can encourage eating disorders within people so that they can fit the set

Biology Reflection
As the bell rung for the end of first period, I gathered my things and began to walk to my second
period class, Biology. Biology was always to me the hardest subject I had ever dealt with because
there was so much to learn, study, and truly understand. I walked through the door into the
classroom and I ll never forget the words I heard my teacher say that caught me so off guard. Get
out your notes and study because you have a test today , he said. As I heard him finish his
sentence, my eyes widen and I quickly moved towards my seat and began to skim over my notes as
fast as I could. I had completely forgot that I had a test in biology.
While reading over my notes, I kept thinking to myself that I just knew I was going to fail this
test. After a couple of minutes of studying, I heard the teach yell 5 more minutes . I began to skim
even faster over my notes. It felt like time was moving so fast because when I heard my teach yell
times up , it seemed as if only 2 minutes had passed by. He passed out the answer sheet around the
classroom and instructed us to fill out our student ID numbers. I looked over the unfilled answer
sheet and counted the amount of questions. There were 30 questions in total which frightened me
even more because I had to answer 30 questions on information that I barely studied. Then he
handed out the test and I became extremely nervous because not only did I barely study and there
were 30 multiple choice questions, but the classroom was so cold that

Later on, many service industries have adopted the philosophy of Lean with the aim of improving
their quality of service, processes, methods and resulting a better customer satisfaction. The study
made revealed that although the Lean Manufacturing was designed and developed for the
manufacturing industries initially, it is now proven that even the service industries could implement
the Lean principles as well, and increasing the customer satisfaction.
In this project, we compare and contrast how lean manufacturing principles and its best practices
have been applied in the Food industry (manufacturing industry) and the Health Care and Hospital
systems (service industry).

Manufacturing Industry FOOD INDUSTRY:
The food and beverage industries have large batch processes .There is a misperception that Lean
Manufacturing do not lead to easy application in these industries. Food industry is composed of
various sectors such as meat and fish, vegetables and fruits, dairy and its products, bakery, oils and
fats, coffee and cocoa products, sugar and salt, cocoa and its products, canned foods, and alcoholic
and non alcoholic beverages, etc. The food industry represents more than 20% of the total industry.
These products are sold to customers not on orders. The food products are manufactured based on a
forecast of the market and demand, and this results in large differences between the forecast made

Teenagers Today Are Too Busy To Be Bored Essay
Bored, to be weary and impatient because one lacks interest in one`s current activity. As the
definition implies, to be bored is to lose interest in what you are doing. As this sense of boredom
can only come when one is only doing the same activity for an extended period of time, I agree that
teenagers today are too busy to be bored.
Firstly, children were encouraged from young to enrichment classes, such as learning the piano or
ballet, to increase their exposure to things such as music and art. For some of these children, they
may have continued attending these lessons up to their teens. As such, some of these teenagers have
to spend extra time attending or practicing for these lessons. This would drastically reduce the
free time a teenager would have in a single day. For example, I have been taking piano lessons
since the age of 10 and it was a struggle balancing the time used for practicing and the time used for
studying. As a result, I was extremely busy doing so many things that I did not felt bored, rather I
felt very stressed out. Hence teenagers taking enrichment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some activities may require an attendance of once a week, while some require three days a week.
Activities that requires strong commitment, such as soccer and basketball, are not only time
consuming but are also physically and mentally draining. For example, a student maybe required to
attend training for four hours a day and three times a week. By the time the student returns home, he
would be extremely tired after attending school for six hours followed by strenuous four hours of
training. Furthermore, the student would have to spend another one to two hours completing
assignments that are due the next day. Hence, teenagers would not have any time to sit back, be
relaxed and be bored as they would be busy trying to balance the limited amount of time needed for
both studies and after school
Do You Ever Stop And Think About How Much Of Your Life Is...
Do you ever stop and think about how much of your life is actually yours? How many days of your
life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life.
Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week
and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the
weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes
out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to
5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately
15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work
emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does
this sound good to anyone? (Pepper)
When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that
so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is even
more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200
years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made
sense. But now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden us. Not
only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our
A Brief Note On Accidental Falls Are One Of The Leading...
Accidental falls are one of the leading causes of death in the construction industry today. Falls are
a persistent hazard that employees face on the construction site that can occur during simple acts
such as climbing a ladder or a result of a complex series of events. According to OSHA, 36.9
percent of all construction related accidental deaths in CY 2013 were from falls (OSHA
commonly used statistics, n.d.). Fall injuries make up a considerable financial burden for
construction companies and insurance companies. Between workers compensation, medical bills,
and other cost associated with falls it is estimated that fall incidents account for $70 billion
annually. Workers have a right to be safe while at their job site. Following rules and regulations, as
well as being properly trained and equipped will greatly reduce the risk of fall incidents.
Review and analysis In February 2007, an adult male construction worker sustained fatal injuries
after he fell three floors following the collapse of the precast concrete floor slabs. The precast
concrete slabs were fabricated off site and then transported to the construction site. These concrete
floor slabs weighed approximately 7 tons and were positioned on the buildings steel structure frame
that was composed of vertical and horizontal steel columns and beams. Once the slabs were
positioned, the workers were supposed to have permanently secured them to the steel frame of the
building using grout or welding. Before this

This paper presents the results of the authors detailed research into competition between
multinationals and local Chinese companies in 10 industries over the past five years. They conclude
that local companies are now threatening multinationals plans to conquer the China market. They
analyse this new competitive game in terms of a dynamic battle of competencies. Multinationals start
off with better industry specific technology and know how, and a higher level of competence in key
functions like marketing and financial management. Chinese companies enjoy a better

Our research over the past five years into the battles between multinationals and local Chinese
companies reveals that while market dominance by local champions is far from universal, it s
becoming ever more frequent. In industries as different as beer brewing, mobile phone
manufacturing and laundry detergent production, Chinese companies often seeming to appear from
nowhere are forcing multinationals to rethink their strategies and their hopes for explosive growth in
the China market.
The message is clear: Multinationals must factor in the existence of robust local competition, while
considering the new opportunities that have opened up as a result of China s WTO membership. To
understand the way competition between multinationals and local champions is evolving and to
pinpoint the keys to success, we traced the evolution of competition in China in 10 industries over
the last 10 years.2 We conducted more than 100 interviews with dozens of leading companies
operating in China, both multinationals and locals, and reviewed thousands of pages of secondary
data. The picture of competition that emerged from our research can best be described not in terms
of traditional market positioning, but as a battle of competencies between multinationals and local
players.
Constraints on Multinationals Multinationals generally start off with clear advantages in two areas:
They have
The Assassination Of Abe Lincoln
An Analysis Over the Assassination of Abe Lincoln Four score and seven years ago... Abraham
Lincoln was our 16th president and had his life taken after the North s victory over the South; he
lives on through these famous words of the Gettysburg Address. Abraham Lincoln was an
important leader in the Civil War who helped free the slaves; his legacy lives on today. Although
he was assassinated his words and actions are imprinted in our memory still today. This
assassination was a major event in the history of the United States, not only with the loss of a great
president, but with the changes and implications that came with it. Many possible reasons exist for
his assassination including angered slave owners in the south after he freed the slaves with The
Emancipation Proclamation. To soldiers from the south being angered with their recent loss in the
Civil War. The most historically accepted reason is that the South had just lost the most important
battle in the war, and this led the South to surrender to the North in the Civil War. After this
happened if the South wanted any hope at all to somehow remain independent they needed a way to
gain back some ground and upset the North s government and power. A common belief was that if
you cut off the head of the snake the body will flounder. In this case President Abraham Lincolnwas
that head, and it was believed if he was killed the Union would struggle. That struggling would be
exactly what the Confederacy would
Elie Wiesel And Larry Itliong Research Paper
Two very different men have led very different lives, and yet, both of their works helped changed
the world. These two men are known as Elie Wiesel, a human rights activist, and Larry Itliong, an
American civil rights leader. Elie Wiesel, on top of being a Noble Peace Prize recipient, also
received an honorary knighthood in London in the year 2006 (cite: Funk and Wagnalls New
World Encyclopedia). He is also a renowned author, and has written over 35 books (most notably,
Night). On the other hand, Larry Itiong was part of the 31,000 Filipino men who came to
California to work in the late 1920s. Itliong devoted majority of his life to his work, standing up
against the struggles faced by farm workers from age 15 to his death. Both men lived through... Show

Unfortunately, more often than not, his work here is overlooked by the similar efforts of Cesar
Chavez (see, Forgotten Hero of Labor Fight; His Son s Lonely Quest ). It was in fact he and his
organization, the AWOC that started the Delano Grape strike. Chavez and his organization only
followed. In the bringing up of the Delano Grape Strike, Itliong worked with Dolores Huerta, Philip
Vera Cruz, and as mentioned above, Cesar Chavez. September 8, 1965 marked the start of the Grape
Strike. Mexican farm workers teamed up with Filipino farm workers to stand up against the low
wages that they were being paid. Additionally, they protested their unhealthy living conditions.
According to The Farm Workers Filipino American Champion, in both these issues, the most affected

Love and Prowess in The Knight with the Lion Essay
Love and Prowess in The Knight with the Lion
The chivalric ideal demanded many things of a knight. To the military ideals of prowess, loyalty,
and honor it added the aristocratic ideal of largesse and, with the rise of the troubadour lyrics and
romances, the ideal of courtly love. At times a knight could find these demands in conflict with one
another. Such is the case with Chrétien de Troyes s romance The Knight with the Lion. In this
story, the hero Yvain finds love while pursuing prowess; but, continuing to pursue prowess, he
loses that love. In the adventures that follow, he seeks to regain his love. In so doing, he develops
true prowess without aiming for it and learns to reconcile chivalry s demands of love and prowess, ...

Yvain s prowess is already great in this early part of the story, as we can see from his first two feats
of arms. In the first, he defeats Esclados the Red, the defender of the fountain, by whom Calogrenant
had been so disgraced. How good a knight Esclados defeated in Calogrenant, the story does not
indicate, only that he is a most agreeable knight (258). We may perhaps assume that, being a
knight of Arthur s Round Table, Calogrenant would have been a good fighter and his defeat more
the exception than the rule. Regardless of his abilities, however, Calogrenant s failure at the spring
serves one important purpose: it provides a backdrop against which Yvain s success there is seen to
be all the more impressive. To this backdrop is added Calogrenant s description of the spring s
defender:
I thought there were at least ten. Yet there was only a single knight whose approach caused so
much noise and commotion....As though bent on evil, he was riding up faster than an eagle and
looking as ferocious as a lion....The knight had a good horse and a stout lance, and without doubt,
he was a whole head taller than I....His lance was not light but, in my opinion, weighed more than
any knight s lance. I have never seen one so large. (263)
Besides this, there is the testimony of Calogrenant s courteous host: So far as they knew or had
heard tell, no man, they said, had ever escaped the
The Influence Of The Holocaust On The Jewish People In...
The Holocaust was a cataclysmic event that took place during 1933 to 1945. The word holocaust
derived from Hebrew, olah , meaning burnt offering. Now the word is popularly known for the mass
genocide that was a part of World War II, that took the lives of millions of Jews over the period of
12 years.
It all started in 1933 when Adolf Hitler took over the Germany after the death of the German
President Paul von Hindenburg. The Jews were blamed for the pecuniary and environmental
dilemma after World War I that Germans endured. And also, for the defeat of Germany in the World
War I. According to Hitler conspiracy theory, the reason of Germany s problem were the Jewish
people that reside in the country.

Because of the succession of Hitler, Jews started to have less freedom in their lives. Children were
not allowed to go to schools anymore; the children went to schools which were secretly created by
interpreters of the Jewish community. It was almost impossible to find jobs at that time, due to the
unemployment for Jews. Then Hitler opened places called concentration camps for the Jews to
suffer for the rest of their time.
The Nuremberg declaration had a great impact on the Jewish people in Germany. The declaration
prevented people from keeping any jobs and it also prevented doctors from performing treatments.
The people were asked to pack their belongings so all of the Jewish people living in Germany can
get transported to Poland.
Non Jews were scared to help the Jews because the Nazi s threatened them that they were going to
be put them in concentration camps and be assassinated. Later, they were forced to live in a place
called a ghetto, where everyone was compacted together leaving them breathless in the ghetto. The
ghettos were the places that were surrounded barbed wires to prevent escape for future
