Analysis Of Viktor E. Frankl
Viktor E. Frankl found a thought provoking way to explore how crucial it is for a prisoner to
adapt to his new life. This is the utmost compelling life insight to myself at this point in my own
life. Frankl wrote, When one examines the vast amount of material which has been amassed as the
result of many prisoners observations and experiences, three phases of the inmate s mental
reactions to camp life become apparent: the period following his admission; the period when he is
well entrenched in camp routine; and the period following his release and liberation (Frankl 8). As I
read on through the book, I found that his adaption to new routine life insight has several supporting
and crucial aspects like accepting desire, finding beauty in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Then, after minutes of moving silence, one prisoner said to another, How beautiful the world
could be! (Frankl 40). Viktor Frankl was provided with dreadful treatment and witnessed horrific
sights. It would be effortless for Frankl to use his angry energy and focus all thoughts on the
negative. Instead, he accepted the current and acknowledged the potential. Accepting the current
and acknowledging what could be improved allows one to acclimate and tolerate the change. The
fact that he and some of his peers were conscious of what could be possible, rather than focusing
and protesting the negative is a crucial part to adapt to life. As an Honors student, I tend to show
the type A personality traits and typically act as a perfectionist. If I was to receive a lower grade in a
class this year, I may be upset with myself. It is customary for myself to dream of the best grade
point average, but in order to adapt to the change I ought to be willing to accept the difficult times.
Frankl proved that you can take negative incidents and shed a brighter light on them. Rather than
telling myself how horrible I did on an assignment, I can tell myself how delighted I would be if I
could improve. This process allows one to keep moving forward as they adapt to the change.
Moreover, when someone is adapting to life during a difficult time they must have some form of
salvation. For Frankl, humor was a form of salvation
John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism Essay
John Stuart Mill establishes a foundation of utilitarianism to justify our actions regarding morality.
Our actions; good or bad, tend to promote human happiness or unhappiness. When referring to good
actions, for example, they tend to be rewarded with pleasures. When one does a good deed that
person feels positive about themselves and therefore they are experiencing pleasure. Essentially, this
is John Stuart Mills foundation. In his writings, he writes, the creed which accepts as the foundation
of the morals utility or the greatest happiness principle holds that actions are right in proportion as
they tend to promote happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness. (Mill, Pg.
7). Seeking for pleasures throughout our... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pleasure is something that all humans are in pursuit of and therefore it is something we all have
in common. Of course, not all pleasures are equally desirable though. As he says, it is quite
compatible with the principle of utility to recognize the fact that some kinds of pleasures are
more desirable and more valuable than others. (Mill, Pg.8) Quality and quantity are completely
separate from one another when talking about pleasures. According to Mill though, a pleasure
should be a balance between both quantity and quality. If a human being s quality of pleasure is
not very satisfactory, he or she will be more easily satisfied in the long run than a person that
seems to have it all. Mill writes, It is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied;
better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied. Human beings are much more superior to
animals in many ways, but primarily in the level of intellect that we possess. A human being
should always be striving to achieve more and therefore we should not always be satisfied.
Therefore, as educated people, we should not succumb ourselves to pleasures of a fool or an
animal. We have a set of memories, beliefs, and desires that sets us apart from animals and
because of this, it is easier to satisfy a pig, for example. This animal does not really possess a set of
memories, beliefs, and desires but rather survives through natural
Public Health Response To Ageing
A longer life brings with it opportunities, not only for older people and their families, but also for
societies as a whole. Additional years provide the chance to pursue new activities such as further
education, a new career or pursuing a long neglected passion. Older people also contribute in
many ways to their families and communities. Between 2015 and 2050, the percentage of the
world s population over 60 years will nearly double from 12% to 22% (WHO, 2015). In the 17
years between 1992 and 2009, admissions to skilled nursing facilities increased almost threefold. 1.3
million Americans now live in nursing homes (Institute of aging, 2012). Beyond biological changes,
ageingis also associated with other life transitions such as retirement, relocation to more appropriate
housing, and the death of friends and partners.
What Is Chillingworth Symbolize In The Scarlet Letter
One of the most adroit talents authors use is symbolism. Writers such as William Shakespeare,
Ernest Hemingway, and Ray Bradbury have perfected this craft. One piece of literature s symbolism
I am distinguished with is Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter. Specifically, the how the names
of the main characters have an underlying meaning.
Pearl the devilish child birthed into sin has meaning behind her name. A pearl is a rare elegant
creation of nature that glows with radiance and has an essence. Hester, Pearl s mother noticed her
child s beauty surrounded by scorn and wanted to give her a name that shows who she really is
her only treasure. The narrator expresses, But she named the infant Pearl, as being of great price
purchased with all she had her mother s only treasure! . Hester believes that Pearl was a direct
consequence from God because of her sinful self. To reflect Pearls luster Hester dresses her in the
finest tissue. This shows the difference between Pearl and the puritan lifestyle.
Roger Chillingworth the old deformed scholar and husband of accused adulteress Hester Prynne
represents name symbolism. The name Chillingworth is cold and bitter a definite reflection of his
personality. From the start Chillingworth seeked vengeance on the unnamed adulterer. Once he
makes his suspicions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The partner of sin with Hester, Dimmesdale is a young minister who is very popular for preaching
his enlightening sermons. Although Dimmesdale is seen in the light, that light is dimmed through
the constant physiological manipulation brought forth from Chillingworth. One cannot live with so
much guilt so Dimmesdale deals with it by self harm. Hawthorne illustrates a change in the minister,
His inward trouble drove him to practices more in accordance with the old, corrupted faith of Rome
than with the better light of the church in which he had been born and bred. . A change indeed one
that haunts Dimmesdale to his eventual

Presidential Election Is Unprecedented
The upcoming Presidential Election is unlike any other. Two very different candidates with widely
disparate political experience and personalities square off against each other in a bitter, contentious
battle. Neither candidate seems very popular or likeable, yet one of them will be sworn in as
President of the United Statescome January. In many ways this presidential electionis unprecedented.
The candidates from both parties are perceived as extremely unfavorable. And, while the
establishment candidate Hillary Clinton currently leads the race, more recent polls show that her
lead over her outsider opponent, reality television star and real estate magnate Donald Trump, is
weakening. What is not unprecedented about this election, however,
Persuasive Essay On Hair Loss
Many individuals who are combating hair loss wonder if a hair transplant surgery is the answer to
their problems and many are even terrified of the word surgery . Maximum folks have seen others
with transplant surgery that look superficial and like a doll s stabbing out for the world to see. To
come out of that fear, we have the basic information regarding everything you need to know about
hairtransplantation.
Principle of male pattern baldness
Male pattern baldness is instigated by the interface of three factors: (1) genetic tendency
(heredity), (2) male hormones (testosterone), and (3) time or age. All three aspects must be
present. Ladies do not develop male pattern baldness since they do not have enough testosterone.
However, if a hereditarily inclined lady is given testosterone later on in life, the same gradation of
baldness that the individual would have had if he or she been a usual male develops speedily,
within a couple of months. Time or age is perceptibly a factor, since baldness upsurges with age in
normal males. The hereditary key is apparently enclosed within the hair follicle and has nothing to
do with the blood or nerve supply. Subsequently, the hair follicles on top of the scalp in a
hereditarily predisposed male are going to fall out regardless of where they are, as long as they are
on the same individual and have a satisfactory blood supply. The fact or principle is what makes the
hair transplant process possible.

Ted Kooser s Poem, Surviving
Omnipresent Death
Ted Kooser s poem, Surviving , can be interpreted in many different ways. At first the poem seems
to be about a man who is watching a bug being attentive to its surroundings and the bug having the
fear of death. Another way to interpret this poem is that death is unrelenting. Even when the
speaker seems to have ceased the image of death, it finds its way back. This is prevalent because the
speaker starts talking about the fear of death, then altering the tone by describing this bug he
witnesses. The speaker then leaves the reader uncertain at the end of the poem. Ted Kooser reveals
the uncertainty of the bugs near future in the last line of the poem. A careful analysis of the poem,
the poem is truly about a man in his final stages of life being attentive to death and the beauty of the
bug he observes.
The speaker has a fear of death and cannot escape its presence. The author states, There are days
when the fear of death/ is ubiquitous as light (Kooser 1 2). This line is a simile that compares the
fear of death to the presence of light. This line has a very negative connotation, because the speaker
is stressing that the only things visible are seen as a way to die. This statement does not t reveal if
the speaker himself has this fear of death. This line does indicate that the speaker thinks about death
a lot, but does not think of death everyday. This means the author may think about death when he
alone or sad. The speaker states that the fear of death
Cytoplasm Changes
Describe the changes that occur inside the cells as a result of alterations in the amount of calcium
in the cytoplasm. What effect will this have on the cells? According to Huether and McCance
(2012) ischemia is the most common cause of hypoxia and is frequently caused by an ongoing
narrowing of arteries (arteriosclerosis) and a total obstruction caused by bloodclots, which is also
called thrombosis (p. 64). In Martin s case, a thrombus has been the cause of his cerebral ischemic
lesion.
As we have learned during our anatomy and physiology courses, our bodies produce more adenosine
triphosphate in the presence of oxygen. When oxygen is not restored and the hypoxic injury
continues, there is not enough ATP to remove the calcium from the cytosol and the calcium pump
fails, which causes an increase of cytosolic calcium concentration (Huether McCance, 2012, p. 83).
This accumulation of calcium in the cytoplasm will trigger the activation of several enzyme systems
¨resulting in membrane damage, cytoskeleton disruption, DNA and chromatin degradation, ATP
depletion, and actual cell death¨ (Huether McCance, 2012, p. 65).
It is interesting to know that calcium ions are critical mediators of cell injury (Huether McCance,
2012, p. 64). In addition, normally, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of their uncontrolled activation, the cell phospholipids will be degraded and lost and the
cell membrane will be damaged (Huether McCance, 2012, p. 65). Kumar, Abbas, Fausto, and
Mitchell (2013) suggested that when the membrane is damaged, the plasma membrane will
experience a loss of cellular components. Also, the lysosomes will perform an enzymatic digestion
of the cellular components. These two processes will lead to cell death by necrosis (p. 14). In
addition, Kumar et al. (2013) explained that when the membrane is damaged, the mitochondria will
also be injured fostering cell death (p.
Analysis of Two of the Best Williams Shakespeare s Work
Known as the leader in classical poetry and drama, English writer William Shakespeare, captures
the passion and emotions that the romance and depths of the human heart experiences in life. This
is especially shown in his vast collection of sonnets which exemplified the carpe diem ideology of
the period, and the love that one can have for another. Two of the most famous of Shakespeare s
works, Sonnet55 [Not Marble, nor the gilded monuments] and sonnet 116 [Let me not to the
marriage of true minds], are no exception to this theme in poetry. Both of these sonnets exemplify the
love that the narrator has for a mistress in his life, and how he defines his love for them. Throughout
both poems, Shakespeare conveys his purpose through the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By using this subtle form of metonymy, the idea of immortalization is achieved by the poet as he
conveys his theme. Other forms of poetic devices are also used throughout the poem, such as
alliteration and assonance. Alliteration is first seen in Sonnet 55 with the M sound in marble
and monuments and the p in princes and powerful. Assonance is also seen early in the poem with
the I in shine and bright, this is the only occurrence of this poetic device in Sonnet 55. However,
alliteration is seen several more times in lines 5 6 with the triple w sound in when wasteful war
and the double s sound in shall statues. The p sound of pace and praise is also an example of
alliteration within this poem. Another literary element used in the internal rhyme of Mars and wars
in line seven. By using alliteration and assonance in this poem, Shakespeare creates a soft but
sincere tone for the piece. Sonnet 116 also has several different forms of poetic devices. Throughout
the poem the theme of love is conveyed through diction and the use of metonymy by repeating
several different words in order to illustrate the strength of emotion the poet feels for the issue.
